My stay was on the 22nd and 23rd of February and we stayed in room 220. I cannot fault the staff, who were friendly, helpful, polite and smart. The hotel is in a fantastic central location. I will however tell you that I was not happy with the accommodation. The mirror and the television in the room were dusty. The shower, however large, was dated and had fungi growing on the grout and silicone. There was a label still on the sink from when it had been fitted that was half ripped off. (Only noticing that as I have recently had my own bathroom done). There were banging neighbouring guests, who thought it their right to bang as loudly on the wall as possible and at one stage I actually thought they must have left a fist mark on their wall. There was also furniture (or something that sound like that) being moved about above or next door to us. The temperature control was not working or I was unable to follow the simple step by step instructions. The room would not heat up to a reasonable temperature. The windows did not open, even a fraction, so as to have fresh air instead of artificial. I must stress that I feel totally let down by my Hilton experience and as for value for money, I would have much preferred to stay a "Holiday Inn" or such like which I feel match the accommodation offered by the Hilton Cardiff.... A little basic for a 5* Hotel.

The executive lounge with complementary drinks and snacks was excellent and we also made full use of the pool facilities.

A fabulous location right next to Cardiff Castle and close to shopping and the impressive Civic Centre. A regular bus right outside the hotel takes you to the redeveloped Cardiff Bay and Welsh Millennium Centre. Room was spacious - overlooking the castle with a huge bathrom and lovely Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. The breakfast was terffic and staff all helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the leisure facilities with good sized pool, sauna, steam room and jaccuzzi. Overall a wonderful relaxing break in a top class hotel - and at a bargain price - recommended!

The Executive lounge is fab, well worth the extra money. Room was big, best asking for one over looking castle, as otherside of hotel backs onto a street with bars on. Did go quiet after midnight. The breakfast had a big selection and there were plenty of staff clearing up and relaying tables. Only concern was the tired and dated areas around hotel. The room was big but the furniture had big chips in it. Was expecting more off a 5*. Very disappointed with main restaurant, would not go there again, expensive, nothing special and sqashed in like a school canteen. Would go out for a meal next time.

On arrival we were allocated a twin room when we had in fact booked a double - this was quickly resolved and they changed rooms. Room in generally good condition although expected more from a 5 star hotel. Pool area also bit disapointed with - some areas needing attention and again from a 5 star hotel would expect better. Breakfast and restaurant facilities and services were very good. Location of hotel was excellent. Overall enjoyed our stay would return but only if we could get a discounted rate again - if we had paid full price for our stay don't really think we woud have been that impressed.

I stayed here with three friends overnight on 31.1.09 for a girlie weekend and couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. We arrived earlier than the check in time but that wasn't a problem and our room was ready. The reception staff were really helpful and so were the staff at the concierge desk. Our room was fantastic, couldn't have asked for better. The bed was really comfortable and the shower and bath were huge. We used the carpark service which is well worth the money. All we had to do was pull up outside the hotel and they took the car for us, then it was there for us the next day when we needed it. There was no rush for us to get it which meant we could go and do some shopping after we checked out and didn't have to worry about what to do with the car. I would stay at this hotel again, it's really convenient for the shops and looking out at Cardiff Castle whilst having breakfast was a real treat. Thanks for making our stay perfect. All this for an exceptional price too

On our arrival at the hotel; we discovered that we had to pay £15 to park our car, granted we had valet service; but we have stayed in numerous hotels in Cardiff - just as nice as the Hilton; and far cheaper - with free parking! The entrance to the hotel is lovely - however ruined by the miserable reception staff; who could not even force a smile - or pretend they were happy to be there - she spoke all of 2words and simply handed our key then walked off, the reception was quiet; so would have expected a nicer greeting! Once in our room; we were impressed by the cleanliness of the room! The bathroom was huge; although the room smaller than expected! We had very comfy bed, and room catered for all our needs; however not convinced worth all money we paid - could be compared to other cheaper hotels in Cardiff! We tried out Room Service - again steep prices for not that amazing food! ( Although have had food in restaurant previously; which was amazing! ) Checkout was quick & easy - but served by same miserable member of staff; who was just rude! Overall we had lovely time in Cardiff! Hotel room was very clean & comfortable; but unfortunatly recieved very poor customer service! Your not paying for the Hilton experience; more the Hilton brand!

I stayed with my son in the Cardiff Hilton from May 29th to Juen 2nd, 4 nights. I was immediatly impressed with the welcome we got when we arrived at 2.30am by both staff who were on duty. This was followed up over our stay by constant helpfulness by ALL staff. It was nice to be met by a smile and a hello at reception every time we entered or exited. The hotel is right in the centre of Cardiff and surrounded by restaurants, bars with plenty of activity going on if you want it. It is a step away from the night clubs but we heard no noise at night in our room. The hotel has a pool and a health centre which we never found the time to use. We will go back soon! Well done, excellent, top marks!
