We were very happy with our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice stay. Rooms and hotel we're clean. Staff was pleasant. No shuttle service to Portland, but they work with 207 Taxi and you get a pretty good deal to get there and back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I don't usually rate hotels but I thought I should do this one....first they weren't sure our room was ready after 4:00 with an actual 3:00 check in time...not too bad. However, I noticed a couple towels were dirty ( like someone cleaned dust off their shoes or something and hung them back up) which made me wonder about the whole room. Furnishings were […] a little warn/ stained. It just wasn't what I expected for a Marriott property. Maybe I was just too critical after the towel thing. I guess they are also doing some remodeling so that may be why we had a little trouble finding the check in desk. They gentleman behind the desk was super nice! Most likely wont stay again even though the location is good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exterior is GOOD, Interior is OK, Staff are BAD"
I think the title of my review summarizes everything. The grounds are kept neat. The room is tolerable, but needs renovation. The staff particularly the evening/grave yard shift staff who watches TV and eat his meals at the front desk is beyond rude. Picture this, a grumpy bearded man with his legs up who can't be bothered for anything. FYI If you don't […] bring your own laptop you'll be using the one computer they have right by the entrance door where everyone can see your business. They have a small outdoor pool and fitness room that doesn't look too inviting. You'll have to settle for cold cereals and bananas for breakfast (don't expect anything else). "Covenient and a bargain"
Overall the property was a great value. provided a clean room, some amenities (pool), and convenient to all roads, shopping and restaurants. Gat hotel for a stopping off point or a hub for travel to Portland.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel close enough to the beach"
spent three nights with my daughters in their hotel studio suite. It was always quiet and a friendly atmosphere. I would stay with them againGenuine Expedia guest review
The room was great: clean, comfortable, great amenities. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My only complaint was there was no wifi in my room- access yes- but only local access and no internet. I complained about it twice- nothing changed. Since I was in Portland for business, this was a must. Good thing I had a broadband card with me or I would have checked out the first night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very spacious and clean"
We arrived late to check in which was no problem. Found the room to be both very clean and spacious. Fiancee thought there wasn't enough sheets on the bed considering how cold it was outside but the room itself was kept very warm so no complaint there either. The one thing I did take a star off for was purely down to the breakfast. If you went in to […] grab some breakfast there was no one there to even point you in the right direction as to where you might find something to eat. A small complaint and really the only one I can make. As I said the room was spacious and very clean. Location would have been excellent for r shopping had we been there for that. Room was clean and comfortable. Appliances were dated. TV was new.Genuine Expedia guest review
Pleasant stay. Staff was courteous and the room was clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
You need wireless internet. The wired connection was not good. You need a bigger lobby area. Need a place to lounge and relax. Breakfast needs more selections. Smoking area needs to be moved further from the pool. When the sign says no animals allowed, that should be enforced, it was not. We asked for a king and got a queen.Genuine Expedia guest review
"So many hotels, stay somewhere else."
This hotel is centrally located near the Maine Mall. But with all the other options around I would recommend staying somewhere else. Our non-smoking room had clearly been a smoking room at some point. The room smelled like stale cigarettes and the bathroom vanity had burn marks all over it. Our "suite" was really a small hotel room with a small kitchen […] in it. Not the extended stay suites we are used to. The continental breakfast ends at 9:00 am. This is fine if you are in town for business but if you are on vacation that is too early to end breakfast. One morning we made our way down to breakfast only to find a sad assortment of yogurt floating in ice water and a basket of wrapped gas station muffins. Clearly not worth getting out of bed early. When we were checking out we were asked how was our stay to which I replied "Well it could have been better" the gentleman behind the counter just looked at me and continued the check out process. He was clearly not concerned that our stay was lacking. I would have complained but the only hotel staff we encountered looked like high school freshman and I doubt I would have gotten far. We come to Portland often and will not be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable hotel with nice room except appliances"
Nice comfortable room except kitchen appliances were old which might make cooking a meal harder.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very impressed with cleanliness and service. A quiet room with lots of amenities, close to all major shopping. Not impressed with the complimentary breakfast, but better than most.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for 2 local golf courses"
Suited us as we just playing golf in the areaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Enjoyed our stay. Comfy bed, clean bathroom and fully equiped kitchen. Supermarket right across the street. Centrally located too which was great, about 40 minutes to Kittery, not even 10 minutes to Old Orchard Beach and only about 20 minutes to Freeport.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Très déçu de Marriott."
En arrivant dans la chambre, il y avait une odeur désagréable. Il n'y avait qu'un seul miroir dans la salle de bain. De plus, quelques éléments disponibles dans la salle de bain avait déjà été utilisés (crème et shampoing). Enfin, le lit était tout simplement inutilisable. Il était tellement mou, que lorsque l'autre personne bougeait, l'autre risquait […] d'être projetté par terre. Vraiment pas à la hauteur de la chaîne Marriott. "Great place-cheap price"

Title says it all. We will return! Great venue. Close to attractions and lobster. Easy to get into Portland and all of the best places to eat. No reason to pay higher prices by staying right in town when you can enjoy great hospitality here.

We stayed here for two nights. The service of the front desk staff was extremely great. We left our iPad in the back of the cab while returning from diner one evening. The cab company was maine airport express. After we called and said we were missing it. They returned it the next day. We were extremely happy to have it back. And used the same company for the next evening.
"Recommendable, but . . ."

10-25-14 Got adjoining rooms, which were very clean and well equipped, as expected. Only drawback was a half inch, 3-corner tear in the fitted sheet, and a very thin, extra blanket with a small, 1-inch "hole" worn through. Neither effected their performance, but I expected higher housekeeping scrutiny for Marriott standards. The free Internet worked flawlessly with multiple devices. The free breakfast was a little lacking from what I was expecting, but the kitchen/dining facility was very clean and well stocked. Staff were very friendly, but a call for help with the TV in one room could've taken a long time, but we found the problem - a loose connector on the back proved to be the culprit - that and the fact that the primary power cord wasn't plugged into the wall outlet. (Ha! Not our fault, but it shouldn't have been overlook by housekeeping. Just call me picky.)
"Great Customer Service!"

When we arrived, we were greeted by Kosta Suli, the Assistant General Manager. After checking us in, Kosta asked what we would like to do while in Portland. We were really just staying for the night on route to Bar Harbor but Kosta gave us some great advice on the area regarding sites to see and restaurants. We took his advice and were pleased with all his suggestions. He is an exceptional employee. Kosta was not there when we checked out but we received the same friendly service. I would definately stay here again.

Not a big fan of Towneplace Suites but had no choice while driving through Portland on a busy weekend. Check-in was easy enough as the staff was friendly and helpful. We went to our first room which was a studio with a full kitchen that is typical for this type of property. We started to unpack and then heard what sounded like a small dog yelp in the room next door. I called down to request a room change right away. Our request was granted and during my conversation with the staff I learned that TownePlace Suites welcomes pets. I've always associated pet friendly hotels as run down properties that don't care any more. Now I know for next time. The second room had an identical layout as the first sans the dog. We did have some housekeeping issues, however. The refrigerator and freezer had food left over from a previous occupant. We also found lipstick on a couple of the coffee mugs. The room itself was OK but not that great. Breakfast was mediocre like other TownePlace Suites we've stayed at. We are in Portland often I don't think we would stay here again. I also avoid pet friendly hotels as it generally doesn't go well.
"Quiet clean 2 bedroom suite."
Room 318 was quiet and clean, beds were comfortable. Corner room away from noise and foot traffic. Stayed 2 nights. Free wi-fi and continental breakfast. Personally I don't think they should allow animals in a hotel room but TownPlace (Marriott) does and someone had 3 (yes three) rottweiler's staying in one room. I am sure I wouldn't want that room after they have left.
"Dirty rooms and dirty bed settings - it's too far from Marriott standards!"
09/08/14 Ana M New York
We stayed at this hotel 3 nights during the Labor Day weekend. We arrived late, after 10pm, and received a very dirty room - with hair on the bed, many hairs on the telephone and in the bathroom. We requested to change the room and moved to the next door room, which was cleaner. Then we realized that we are missing a blanket with the sheet, so we requested and shortly received it. But after my daughter starting arranging her bed, she seen that the sheet was dirty - it was used and even has 3 brown spots on it. It was disgusting! We had to call again and request the new bed setting. Half an hour after we started to smell cigarette smoke. We had to address the issues to the manager. He spoke with the guest the next day, who reside on the 2nd floor and this problem was resolved. The manager comped one night for so many inconvinience issues, but our small vacation was ruined. It's not the Marriott standard, we wouldn't stay there even for free.
"Good value for group"
We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. Great beds, and also has a pull out couch so it could sleep 6. Well stocked kitchen with stove, fridge, micro. Hotel still supplies contental breakfast. Boiled eggs, cereal, muffins, bagel, yogurt and fruit. Hotel is convenient to the mall area, and Portland is about a 10 minute drive north on I295. Exit 4 just up the road takes you into the downtown area with cool bars and restaurants.
"OK for the Value"
09/02/14 CCB_Vacationer Brooklyn, NY
The stay was OK for the price paid. The kitchen area was a bit outdated. The couch was worn. However, the bedroom and television have been upgraded. The major issue I have here is that I believe housekeeping is not very thorough. I dropped something at the bedside. When I lifted the bed skirt / sheet, I noticed a granola wrapper and a bottle of orange juice from a previous visitor. However, the staff at the front desk seem friendly and courteous.
"Comfortable and quiet stay"
09/01/14 donchamp donchamp
Big comfortable rooms. Quiet. Didn't seem like it was next to mall. Wooded area. 10 minutes from downtown, easy to go anywhere quickly by car. Right near entrances to 295 and Maine turnpike. Brewpub across parking lot for nice lunch or dinner. Fairly good complementary breakfast.
