It's a nice place. I like the interior. But there isn't much close by. Its in a business area with a few town homes around. You need to drive a couple of miles to find anything - bar, restaurant, because the hotel doesn't have one which is mainly why I think the place is a little overpriced at $100 +/- per night. Front desk staff were top notch, allowing us to check in early, printing Southwest boarding passes for us when we couldn't be at a computer 24 hours before departure, and responding quickly when the room temperature was a problem. Room had 2 queen beds allowing my husband, 16-year old son, and I to stay in one room. Room also had microwave and frig, […] free wi-fi- and breakfast. We love the hotel, this is the 3rd time we've stayed there. It's conveniently close to the xcel center. Unfortunately the girl working the desk was not very helpful & mumbled the whole time so we couldn't understand what she was saying. And that was after I stood at the desk for 5 minutes with her standing on the other side of the doorway. This was a really interesting hotel. The uniqueness of turning a train station into a hotel was what drew me to it. Bed was so so and there's not much nearby, but it's not too far away from dining off Snelling and University avenues.

This building and its surroundings are part of an old train station, and it's one of the more unique looking hotels I've seen. The pool is the primary feature of the courtyard, and while there is a faint chlorine smell in the lobby, I didn't detect any smell in the room, which was fairly spacious. Check-in was quick, clerk was very helpful. Also, clerk helped with getting towels for the pool (pronto) and later, showing me how to log onto the internet with my tablet. Bad points Rooms still using old Panasonic color CRT TV's. Ditch them and get flat wide screen models. The CRT monitors could not rotate from within the antiquated dresser drawer thus preventing see the TV at an angle. Provide a TV listing of channels available in the rooms. None was provided. Wireless access was horrible. Wireless controlled by a […] single Linksys router located at the Reception Desk. Internet access kept dropping every 3 min. No restaurant in the hotel for any room service. You have to use the take out menus or physically go out for lunch and dinner. Bathroom towels feel like sand paper. Bathroom mirrors extend too long. Having a pool and hot tub are always a good draw to a motel, it is not a small reason I pick a property. When I had the time to relax at the hot tub it was closed for cleaning; I was disappointed. It was still closed the next morning for "cleaning." They had all night to drain and refill the hot tub! This is not acceptable!

not having a car, this location was impossible. taxis took a long time to reach this place, and then charged excessively. your service car stayed outside all weekend, and there was no driver. in case of emergency, this is not a good situation. wouldn't stay in such an out of way place again--no food service,etc.

Hallways & stairways need some cleaning & repair,noticed some smoke smell in some areas. Windows do not open in the room and you have to rely on the limited temperature range on the wall thermostat.Helpful & friendly staff people, historic character of hotel adds to the experience.

We booked a non smoking room, but because they were full, we were put into a smoking room, despite getting there right at check in when I'm sure there were still other non smoking rooms available. We asked to be put in a non smoking room and were told all the rooms were booked by the clerk who seem uninterested in helping us further.

The hotel is a refurbished train repair "shed" that has great history. There are tracks running through the lobby and the transfer table is behind the hotel. OUR ROOM WAS VERY COLD. THE THERMOSTAT WAS RESTRICTED TO 75. THE ROOM SMELLED LIKE THE POOL AND SPA WAS IN OUR ROOM ALL NIGHT AND MORNING. Overall feel of the hotel was average at best. It was centrally located to my meeting locations. However, the only place to eat near the hotel was a sports bar three blocks away. The hotel bar only served frozen pizzas and closed at 9:00 PM. Wireless internet access in my room was spotty at best. Loved the cuteness of the hotel. The only complaint my husband and I had was that our room was considered a no smoking room. We walked into our room and were greeting with a horrible smoke smell. Then right next to the no smoking sign on the desk was an ashtray and matches. By the bathroom mirror was another ash tray and book of matches..... Hmmm. I was in town for an event, and found this as one of the cheaper hotels in the region whose community didn't cause me to run in fear. It's a very safe location, with an adjacent parking structure as well as just the best appearance of any modern hotel I've seen.
