"Lousy - DO NOT RECOMMEND"
We checked into our room and found it to have a musty odor. I took my shoes off and found the carpeting was soaked? We went to the front desk and spoke to the desk clerk who told there was a broken pipe that they fixed earlier that day but thought the carpet would have been dried? We asked for another room but was told the hotel was sold out. We will […] be traveling to this area for the next 4 years and have crossed this hotel off the list of choices we have. "Average, lower cost suite hotel w free breakfast"
Hotel is conveniently located at exit within a Walmart parking lot, convenient to shopping and a nice mall. The rooms are of average quality and are not huge, but have sofa beds that increase the sleeping area. They also have a small refrigerator which is a nice addition. Beds are reasonably comfortable but pillows are marginal. Some of the bedding […] was stained, but it had been cleaned- it was just old. The breakfast is ok, nothing special, but they do have a hot entry every morning that was ok. The breakfast area is tight and congested in morning- not large enough if too many guests come down- such as a volleyball team that was at the hotel when we were there. The staff is very friendly and interested in you having a good stay. Overall, the hotel was acceptable, but not my first choice for an extended stay. For what I was looking for- a lower cost hotel with a free breakfast and ability to sleep six in a room comfortably for 2 days while attending a college commencement - it met the mark. "Comfortable and pleasant"
Enjoyed our stay. The hotel was not busy and we had the hot tub and pool to ourselves. The staff was pleasant and the room comfortable. We will stay again, I am sure!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to shopping center"
The hotel was nice and clean and the front desk was friendly; however I was not impressed with the pool. While visiting the pool there was a swim instructor giving swimming lessons to numerous children one after another. Almost all of the children were screaming and crying the entire time. I found this inappropriate to the point that we left the pool. […] We chose this hotel because of its location and it had a pool, this was disappointing. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good, but a bit older"
This is an older hotel in a very convenient location off I-196, near a lot of restaurants & shopping. I had to have some display materials shipped to the hotel for a work event, and they were waiting in the lobby when I arrived. The staff was attentive to our needs (which included 2 cases of "key demagnetization" and a request to re-make our bed after […] we found stains on the sheets), but could benefit a little more attention to detail in general (checking sheets for stains before putting them on guest beds, keeping all food items better stocked during breakfast hours). Also, our room shared a wall with the breakfast room, so the TV in there woke us up at 6:00 each day. Overall, a perfectly adequate stay (the suite rooms are nice, especially if you have to work in the room at all or need to store food), that could be better with a bit of work. "motel close to store and mall"
We couldn't use the tea bags because something was spilled and dried on it. The 2 chairs were very shaky so we sat on the couch, bed and computer chair. The rest of the room appeared to be clean. The beds were comfortable. With the breakfast, the Canadian bacon was gone by 9 am, and my son didn't get any. There was waffles, scramble eggs, dried out […] biscuits, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, dried cereal, sausage and gravy, fruit, tea bags but no hot water to make it, and coffee. We stay here once a year, and go to mall the next day, and we stay here because of the location. This is the first time that I was ever disappointed with our stay, but overall, the room was nice. My husband always uses the hot tub and having a microwave and a refrigerator are other conveniences. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place to rest"
The staff was kind and worked with us to make sure we had an enjoyable experience.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were in town for business and only at the hotel for a short time, but the rooms were clean and comfortable, big enough that we were able to spread out some large drawings and get some work done in the evening. We didn't have time to take advantage of most of the hotel amenities, but did enjoy the complimentary breakfast. The staff was friendly as […] well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Friendly staff and good price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was quiet. Room was fine, seemed clean. The couch in the room had a tear in the fabric. Decor could use a little updating. Lots of pillows for the bed. Room was too warm when we walked in so had to set it to cool, in the middle of winter. The wall heating/cooling unit blows all the time & makes the curtains billow out on you if you are on that side […] of the bed. So bring a clothes pin or a chip clip to keep the curtains from flapping around. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Comfortable Hotel in Suburbs"
I have many years of experience in extensive business travel both in the US and in other countries. Recently I needed to attend some technical training that was being held in an area away from the "higher end" hotel chains I had been accustomed to using in the US. I was surprised at the quality of this facilty considering the reputation of Comfort Suites […] as a hotel for the budget minded. It was not ornate, but it was an excellent quality facility. The fitness center was neat, clean, and provided a variety of quality exercise options. The indoor pool was better than many I have seen at far more expensive accommodations. The staff were warm and relaxed around the guests. The rooms/suites were pleasant, comfortable and provided plenty of space for "spreading out". The listed feature of "Continental Breakfast" significantly understates the level of breakfast provided for the guest. To sum it all up, this facility far exceeded my expectations. I strongly recommend it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We lived here during our trip to the beach. While it is a little far away from the beach, the hotel is really nice, and I will never regret my choice. room is clean, quiet and comfortable. The room we got was really big but was crowded with too much furniture. The carpet was old and looked dirty. The carpet was very dirty with big spots and the furniture was old. The pull out bed was hardly an inch thick and had springs poking up through. I was very disappointed in the room for the price. Will not go back. The front desk service was pleasant, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Room and Service!"
08/05/14 Nancy R
Excellent room had two queen beds and there was a large setting room with a couch, refrigerator and microwave which we didn't need but very impressed. Got in late and Rachael at the desk was very accommodating. The pool and hot tub was open until 12 which was great we got to relax a minute after a long day. Stayed at many Choice Hotels this one ranked right up there! Close to Rivertown Mall too!!

Stayed at this hotel for four days for a hockey tournament. Big rooms, great customer service and a great location! They were very accommodating to try to get all our families together. I will definitely stay here again if I'm in the Grand Rapids area!

Our family was there for the Meijer State Olympic Games. Everything at the hotel was perfect! Beds were fantastic, queen size and pillow top. Fridg and Microwave in room. Plenty of space with a couch. Staff was more than friendly & helpful. Breakfast was plentiful, clean and well staffed. We will always stay at this hotel when visiting Grand Rapids. Close to restaurants and shopping and freeway.
"Nice Hotel In GRANDVILLE Area"

I always stay here when I'm in Grandviile for my business trip. Two flavor waffle choice, Scrambled egg, Link sausage are my favorite. They just remodeled most of thing in the rooms. Staffs very nice and helpfull. There is a walmart in the same parking lot if you need to buy any grocery and it is 24 hour open. There is a lot of restaurant within one mile. Only 10 minutes from downtown grand rapid
""Not so much""
05/23/14 Kathleen S Kalamazoo, Michigan
After staying in a Microtel by Wyndam the night before I was very disappointed paying double the $ for half the comfort at this location. The lobby feels like a motel-not a hotel. Once you get past the little vestibule full of brochures, the lobby is small, dark, and the counter person didnt seem very professional. I had to walk around her friends/relatives she was visiting with who were taking up most of the lobby space. Beds were not uncomfortable , but very bouncy with no padding-seemed ancient, but they did have pillow choices-YAY!. Breakfast was OK-waffles were the only hot choice. They must have gotten rid of the eggs/sausage the previous reviewer described.Probably a good choice/fair price for a large family, but for a seasoned solo business traveler-not so much. Didnt feel like it fit the area and/or are keeping up with their competition.

We came for a wedding and had the discounted rate. I appreciate the price was pretty darn good for a suite and we definitely need a suite with 3 kids. I also love that there are 2 QUEEN beds (not double) and a sofabed in every room. The location is close to the highway and shares a parking lot with Walmart, which is convenient. The front desk staff were friendly. Still, there were a few things I wasn't happy about. 1. Even though I made a point on reservation and check-in of stating we'd be using the sofabed since there we're a family of 5, the room we were assigned had no bed sheets on the sofabed and none were in the room (looked in the closet, the dresser drawers, etc). The only thing there was a dirty mattress cover that didn't cover the whole mattress. Of course, we only discovered this around 11pm when the kids were exhausted and I needed to make do with what was in the room. So, I took a sheet that was over a regular bed comforter from one of the queen beds and put that around the mattress. There was 1 only 1 thin blanket for the sofabed, not a comforter and only 1 thin, flimsy pillow for the sofabed (we pulled more from the queen beds, since there were many) We shouldn't have had to pull stuff from a queen bed to make the sofabed work! Everything for the sofabed should be included in the room at check-in. Also, the sofabed mattress and cover were disgustingly dirty. I'm glad there was a sheet acting as a barrier between my child and that! And, to top it off, the holes that hold the springs to the foundation material had been ripped at the bottom of one side. So, there was no support for even a kid's legs to lay there without drooping down. And, forget about trying to sit there! Overall, the sofabeds are nasty, uncomfortable and the staff must not expect you to use them since linens aren't "usual" stock. Some serious updating needs to happen here. 2. The first morning of our stay, the breakfast was a bit stale (especially biscuits), they were running out of some things with almost an hour left of breakfast, and there was no non-stick spray to be found. After having a waffle stick and make a mess, I finally asked the lady running the breakfast if they had any. She found it in a cabinet, but acted like she was doing me a favor rather than providing something that should be on the counter throughout breakfast. The next day, we skipped the breakfast in the hotel and ate out. 3. We used the pool a lot; they frequently ran out of "pool towels" and staff had to be asked to bring more. Also, the pool is used (rented ?) Mon-Fri in the late afternoon/evening for an outside group to conduct swim lessons. While I think this is a nice thing to do and we were told we could swim while they were doing lessons, it felt uncomfortable to be in there during that time. Maybe they should limit it to less busy days, Mon-Thurs or off-hours a bit more.
"Nice hotel -GVSU Commencement"
04/28/14 Patti S Taylor
We booked 2 rooms here for my daughter's graduation from GVSU last weekend. Both rooms were clean, large and comfortable. It was a 10 minute drive from Van Andel Arena and less than a mile from a mall and several restaurants. The breakfast was very good, with scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, bagels, toast, juices, cereals, biscuits & gravy etc. The staff continued to restock and the food was fresh and warm. Would definitely stay here again when in the Grand Rapids area. Nice job Comfort Suites, I'm not easy to please.

Have stayed in several hotels in the Grand Rapids area and by far this has been the best of the best visits. The staff was very friendly and informative, Was put at ease when we were able to check in prior to regular 3:00pm, after a 6 hour drive my wife and I was ready to relax down at the pool. The breakfast had a broad choice of items to choose from
"Overpriced, over rated"
04/13/14 sleeping_bear Michigan
This hotel is poor at best. I stay in hotels about 50 nights per year and this is one of the worst. The room was marginally clean. There was no bath mat provided in the room. The curtains were torn. Housekeeping failed to replace an empty tissue box. Used linens form the sofa beed were not removed. The common areas are dirty. The elevator floor is filthy. The breakfast provided is marginal at best.
