Everyone quite helpful from the front desk to the laundry. Initially our request for 2 bathrooms not met but we were moved the next day to a 2bath and larger room. Our laundry was picked up at 1300 , cleaned and returned by the time we came home at 2000. Housekeeping very considerate of our needs. One can't ask for better service.

Hotel was an outstanding value. Staff were nice but not well informed or coordinated. The room safe failed to open and it was a fiasco trying to get it back open. The communication was not good in that it was never stated to us that Security could only open the safe with us in the room -- which makes sense. On two occassions we requested the safe be opended and never informed that we had to be there in the room. So time was wasted thinking the safe was being opened/fixed. The only other problem was the heating system was very noisy. Would bet the motor on the fan was bad.

If you are seeing a play in the Chicago Theaatre District, this is the place to stay. Convenient to walk to and we found it to be a very safe area. The lobby is wonderful, and with the bar situated right there as you walk in, it is an exciting energy that takes you in the minute you walk through the door. Staff was exceptionally courteous and polite. We also had dinner there, in Lockwood, and wow, what a treat! Fabulous presentation and the food was wonderful. Treat yourself to this fine establishment!

Fantastic location one block from Grant Park/Millennium Park. Starbucks & Corner Bakery at the base of the hotel. 24 hour Red Line underground subway at the door. Nicely appointed updated room (but bathroom is typically small in an old hotel), and a comfy bed . The lobby is breathtakingly beautiful from America's Guilded Age. The only negatives: Bring earplugs (the walls are paper thin), and the wifi was over $12 per day extra (most hotels offer it for free), and no free coffee/tea in the room.

I stayed here over the 2009 marathon weekend and the hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet. Being only 1.5 blocks from the park and Michigan Ave. made it very convenient for pretty much all of downtown and there were plenty of places to eat nearby. I had a small room with one bed. I was by myself, so the small room was comfortable, but request a larger room if you are more than a single. Overall, the hotel was close to perfect for my weekend in the city.

We have stayed there several times because of its location near the art museums and parks. It seems to have gotten better as far as available food choices in the hotel. The room was quite large, although we have had very small ones before. The major complaint is the cost of parking overnight. Don't use the hotel valet parking service; convenient but its worth walking a block to a self-park city garage.

I loved it, but my husband prefers something a little more contemporary. We stay on the executive level(key access only) and it was nice and quiet. The suite had 2 bathrooms and one was very small and cramped, but clean. Beds were comfortable, but a bit far from the small TV located in the sitting area. Location is perfect, long walk to all the big shopping, but close to the Art Museum and Milliennium Park. We didn't get a chance to enjoy the free appetizers and continental breakfast, but it looked good. I would defiantly stay again when I can afford it.

Slight drawback with this older hotel, sound proofing wasn't great. Would recomend this highly hotel. Foyer is breath taking.

Although this hotel was lacking some basic amenities and was a bit of a let down, it was definitley worth the price because of the location. Everything (Millenium Park, the Magnificent Mile, Chicago Art Institute, the train) are within a maximum 2 mile radius to the hotel. There are also great restaurants and stores within walking distance as well. If you need any help with restaurant suggestions or getting around town, the concierges were incredible friendly and helpful!

We had all free pop, water, snacks, hors d'voures (we ate as supper), continental breakfast, and dvd rental. The room was spacious and had 2 bathrooms. The hotel staff was friendly and tried to be helpful. Sometimes it was hard to find someone available to help. We were charged for parking, but the desk clerk took care of it pretty quickly. The hotel itself is beautiful and in a great location. We absolutely loved our stay!

The Palmer House Hilton was everything I expected and more. Having grown up in the Chicago area, I had never stayed at the Palmer House. So, this was a great experience--it was lovely, the lobby ceiling is a must see. The staff helpful and extremely polite. The room was large, and while not "modern", it was beautifully remodeled and looked as it might have looked in the Palmer House glory days. I was 2 blocks from my conference meeting place and had easy access to the Art Institute, Millenium Park, Grant Park, and more. I would recommend this place to visitors and Illinois residents alike.

Positives: I found the location to be convenient to everything. The main entrance is really pretty for taking pictures. I was very satisty with my room (2 double beds room), it was clean, but a little bit small. I did not know that the hotel did not have views of the Millenium Park, there are no views of anything except the other side of the hotel. Housekeeping staff is excellent, my room was very well cleaned every day. Negatives: bathtub was clogged. I called from my room several times and nobody picked up.The concierge and registration staff are rude, unfriendly, and fake-nice. As a visitor to the area for the first time, the only people who really annoyed me were the concierge of the hotel. After I handed the keys on my checkout to the staff, I asked her is she can call the aiport service to come pick me up, she directed me to the paid phone and told me to call myself. I would only recommend this hotel for its location and cleanliness, but do not expect any customer service at all.
