"Nice for a quick get-away"
great spot, close to what i wanted. pricey, but great staffGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was good. Room was tiny and finishes were dated. It looked better in the pictures. The staff was lovely. I eould recommend it but maybe not my first choice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice location"
Not 4 star hotel but good for short accommodation as it's location is close proximity to everythingGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location. Good shape for an older hotel property.Genuine Expedia guest review
"shopping nearby was good"
This is the second time I have stayed there. Both times our experience was good. Only draw back was there was only one desk chair in the room for seating. They ought to have other seating arrangements.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location location location :)"
Everything was great , the room was very small though but they have great location .Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent..................Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location. Room was good but ceiling in room needed repair. Dust was falling. After being ignored at the bar for a decent amount of time, we got water bottles for $2 each (which we felt price was fair). The next night went back for another water bottle and they were $5 each.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small, vintage hotel"
The location is great since it is right in downtown, in a safe area. Plenty to do and easy to navigate around Chicago if you stay here. The room was clean, but small. Nothing fancy… but if you don't mind older vintage hotels and spend more time outside the room then you'd enjoy it! I did get a suite so we had a living area to put luggage in. Classic hotel in the heart of the city. Clean and comfortable with a friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Within walking distance from everything."
The appearance of something isn't always everything! It's the people behind it that makes it everything. My stay at this hotel was just wonderful. My only complaint is, well it's not really a complaint. But the bed was to soft, I'm used to sleeping on a much fermer bed. With that being said, if you had to accommodate everyone that would be a whole lot […] of money. On a buisness scense, well worth the money. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The staff was wonderful and great location as it is central to MM. Pay WF is my only complaint. So if you have I pad don't get room facing Michigan or there is no signal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was a bit small, but that came as no surprise as we've stayed at the Allerton before. Service is outstanding.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel in a great location. They need to update their 1980's telephones in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Comfortable, clean, and excellent location. No complaints.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"One night in Chicago"
Check in was easy and way before the check in time. Service was great. Location was perfect for our 2 days to see as much as we could. In the middle of many things we wanted to see.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good location"
The hotel is in a great location for touring and visiting in chicago. While the hotel is older it is very comfortable and the staff very accommodating. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. I would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Exactly where you need to be downtown..."
Staff is great, very nice, very helpful. This is a really nice hotel, right off of the Magnificent Mile. Rooms aren't very big, but if you need a place to stay to enjoy everything around you, this is perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
"If location is important, this is a great hotel."
Hotel location is ideal, but parking is overpriced and makes the hotel even more expensive than it already is. $60/ day is a bit much- even for Chicago. The hotel is quaint and historic, but desperately needs updating. Some of the wallpaper was peeling off in the bathroom and it was poorly "patched" in others. Our bathroom only had one towel and we […] had to request more, which seemed a little ridiculous for a "VIP" hotel. Speaking of VIP, we were supposed to be upgraded to their best available room. I guess the best they have is a king bed, or otherwise it wasn't much of an upgrade from a queen. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Surrounded by shopping"
Great location, great service, but the most uncomfortable beds we have ever slept in. The hotel upgraded us for free and took great care of us. The service is excellent. However the hotel is in need of a couple of upgrades and repairs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right on Michigan ave perfect location"
Room was extremely small, no space to move around at allGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful hotel, but heads-up, vegetarians/vegans"
Very friendly and helpful staff, great rooms, and surprisingly affordable for its location. The only thing was I wished they had mentioned that the mattresses were also feather, in addition to the comforters. My boyfriend is a vegetarian, and he was a little weided out by it when we realized. Still a great experience, definitely would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Customer service was good but the room size was very small. Cost an additional $25 to upgrade to a "standard size room." My advice is to just pay the small account extra and stay at the Mile North hotel which is less than a block away.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, butt..."
It was a great location, but our room was small (which we expected) and the air conditioner was not working. The room and hallway were extremly warm . We asked to change rooms and without apologizing , they did accomodate us. I loved the location, but would probably stay somewhere else next visit...somewhere that serves a continental breakfast and that […] has a mini fridge . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Will not return"
Room was very crowded and vrry disappointed with our view of an alley and another building showing rooms undet construction. Very upset with parking bill of $60 per night which IS NOT posted on the web site nir mentioned when you reserve the roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall good experience. Great location, comfortable room. No coffee maker in a room was a surprise. Coffee in a lounge was expensive and watery.Genuine Expedia guest review
I wasn't happy with the 4 p m check in time We had a stop over I wanted to freshen up before a bit of sight seeing. So we have to leave our bags and goGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very convenient to shopping, restaurants, even walking to the Navy Pier. The staff was friendly and helpful. The doorman stood in the road for several minutes to get us a cab on a rainy day. The room was spacious and comfortable. We had plenty of warm water and large, thick towels. We liked the feel of this older hotel. It had an Art Deco […] look and feel. I would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Parking was $60.00 a night. So parked a cuple blocks away. Internet was really high at $19.95 a day for not very good. Ended up using free internet in the lobby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"room size and lobby situation are disatisfying"
Assigned to an extraordinarily small room 2017. Clean however. No lobby of size, comfort and rest . . country motels provide better lobby comfort.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
very good, looking forward stay again recommended to stay every oneGenuine Expedia guest review
"Everything within walking distance."
Very enjoyable stay. You can walk easily to vast majority of sights. One tricky detail is the on-site parking. You have to double park outside entrance and flag down door man to get your car into parking garage. A better option is to use public parking garage next door at half the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I booked this hotel through Expedia....was offered an upgrade to a suite for $25 upon arrival. We were going to a concert at the Chicago Theater and wanted a mini-staycation. The staff was amazing and the hotel was very upscale. Our only complaint was that the bed was horrible. VERY mushy and the pillows were the super squishy kind too which did not […] lead to a very good night of sleep for either of us, but we otherwise enjoyed our stay! "An excellent location and reasonable price."
Better price than neighboring hotels! Not glitzy, but a classic hotel that was just fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved being close to everything. However. They do not have coffee makers in the rooms. The ones downstairs are only provided until 11 am each day. Also, the are frequently not full. They are very slow replacing them. I walked to Starbucks. The hotel is cleanGenuine Expedia guest review
"Right in the heart of Michigan Avenue!"
This was our first trip to Chicago. We have stayed at a Warwick hotel in NYC and enjoyed it. This hotel was very close to shopping and restaurants. We stayed in an executive suite and it was very spacious. The view was of Michigan Avenue. Only complaint was that the bathroom had very little space to place toiletries. One small shelf over the sink. Other […] than that great hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel was very nice but there were two things that were slightly less than expected. First, their are not enough elevators. I stood waiting for an elevator for twenty minutes at one time. "A Nice Place"
The Allerton made for a good experience. The room was a little small but that was not a problem at all. It is located near a Trauma Center and the ambulances were very active all through the four nights we stayed. My wife complained the most about this noise, but I enjoyed the stay none the less. It is located along the Magnificent Mile and this made […] for an interesting stay in Chicago. Parking was expensive but that will happen in this type of city environment. we enjoyed our stay. "everything we expected and more!"
This was actually our second stay at the Allerton. We had several guests staying downtown for our wedding, so we picked an old favorite so we could be close to them. When we checked in, they had upgraded us to a suite, which was beautiful! The entire hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Amazing architecture and original style has been preserved very well. "First time in Chicago..."
Chicagoans (including the hotel staff) were so incredibly helpful and friendly...I was pleasantly surprised and grateful. The Allerton is very centrally located to shopping, restaurants, attractions, etc. however is quite in need of an interior make-over. Fresh carpeting and curtains would be to their benefit as it is a lovely place to stay otherwise. […] Besides suffering from allergies to a mysterious element in our room, I would have to rate my stay at the Allerton as a 7 on a 1-10 scale. Coffee was provided in the lobby every morning from 6-10 am, however it would have been even better if it was available in the room. Strangely, internet service was not provided at no charge, but was available for a daily fee, unless you were on the 2nd floor lobby. Overall...a good experience Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a perfect place to stay in Chicago without a car. It's about a $40 cab ride from O'Hare Airport and is basically within walking distance of most things we did in the city, except the Blue Man Group. When you do need a cab, there is staff to get you one quickly. It is very well staffed and we didn't have a wait to check in. The rooms are a nice […] size and the bathrooms are small, but up-to-date. Our room had tall ceilings, crown molding, and giant windows. Our view from the 24th floor was wonderful. There is complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings. There is a restaurant in the lobby for meals, but we didn't partake. We never heard any noise from any other rooms in the hotel, just noise from traffic outside, sirens from the local hospital and horns honking, but that is typical of a city & didn't bother us. Our shower's water flow was our only complaint. It was either on full with very hot or warm/cool with a trickle of water coming out. Maybe this was because we were on the top floor of the hotel?? When we took showers in the evening it seemed better but still not like it should be. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We were so very happy with our choice of staying here. The location was perfect, the staff was super helpful, and loved the whole vibe of the hotel!!! Would absolutely stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
This place is great! I never took part of the restaurant or bar so I cannot discuss service. The room was alright. I feel it could have had a better update and a better paint job but that is actaully part of my profession to notice things like that. "Nice hotel with great location"
I stayed for 9 days and had a great experience. I had a large room and the hotel staff were all so friendly.
