Super 8 Modesto - Modesto (and vicinity)

Beginning at 5am, a large freight train passed the hotel with horns blasting every 15 minutes. Bathroom fans made a constant groaning sound whenever we turned on the lights (motel wouldn't fix this problem).

I enjoyed my stay at your hotel. The service was very good and I really appreciated the help with my luggage. The train will always be a problem, but it willl NOT prevent me from staying at your hotel again. I also appreciated how clean and neat my room was maintained during my 5 night stay.

We stayed in the room no smoking but the people in the next room smoked and it blowed in our room. It was not pleasant. People smoked around the pool. The comfort was old and tore off. The room looks nice.

I stayed here before a bike race the next day. The fact that this place is a converted Holiday Inn Express explains alot. I would probably not venture to eat the breakfast at most Super 8's. But this place was very clean and nice. Even the breakfast was inviting and tasty. An exceptional value.

The customer service was excellent, nice friendly staff willing to assist with any need. Just needed a place to sleep for the night, so I didn't get a chance to use the shower or take a dip in the pool or sauna. But the bed was absolutely comfortable! It was the best sleep I had in a very long time :-) The breakfast buffet was nice; they had biscuits […] and gravy waffles, hard boiled eggs, and many other items. My only complaint was that the light was on outside my room and the curtains couldn't block the light out. I thought that, being located off of the 99 freeway, there would be a lot of noise, but it wasn't too bad. Read more

Well, for one they write they have an all you can eat breakfast buffett but it seemed more like it was an upgrade of a continental breakfast. Two, their hot tub was out of service and their sauna was not working either. The exercise room had a built in t.v but there was no t.v. like other exercise rooms do. Three, we were only offered one tiny shampoo […] and one tiny soap for all three of us. Four, The carpet looked dirty and there were cops outside the hotel room, not too sure why. The manager greeted us with a great smile and excellent customer service. She was very pleasant as was the rep we spoke to on Saturday as we wanted to stay an extra night. The room was ok. It smelled like cigarettes but I know that's difficult to totally eliminate, the couch has seen better days =( but the beds were comfy, clean bathroom, too! I did see earplugs upon check in..I took one. They have it there (thank heavens) because there is a train that comes by EARLY in the morning..many times. The Super 8 motel in Salida, CA was a great bargain. The room we had was large, clean and surprisingly quiet. Sure, there was noise from the freeway and the freight trains (the tracks are across the street and passing trains blow their horns all night long), but the front desk had individually-wrapped earplugs in a basket on the counter. I actually […] found the trains soothing--and I knew they would be there before I reserved the room. What surprised me was the cleanliness of the hotel and the size of the room. We had a double queen. I am used to the furniture in hotel rooms taking up all the floor space. However, there was plenty of room to move around the beds, the table and chairs, the desk and the dresser. The shower was clean, there was no mildew growing on the shower curtain, the water was hot and a consistent temperature for the duration of each of our showers--in short, we didn't run into the problems I've come to expect even at more expensive hotels. The hotel had a free "hot breakfast," which I tried my second morning there. I will definitely skip that the next time I stay. The "hot" part was biscuits and gravy. Everything else was instant, and there wasn't even the usual selection of yogurt and dry cereal. If you are looking for luxury and amenities, I wouldn't recommend this hotel (although the pool and spa did look well-maintained and there was a fitness room and business center). However, if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, inexpensive room for a couple of nights, the Super 8 in Salida/Modesto is a great find. Read more

My room was not soundproof. The noise of the adjoining freeway 99 was too noisy to sleep and after getting to sleep, it constantly woke me up. I would not recommend this hotel for this reason and this reason alone.

Overall the hotel is clean and the bed was comfortable. The freeway noise is super loud. Had problem getting to sleep because of the noise. If noise effects your sleep, would not recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 214, and sounded like we were sleeping on the shoulder of the highway.

Great Hotel, Good Price, Good Breakfast and Rooms were very spacious. Only Drawbacks were long walk to rooms from parking lot and location was off an inconvenient side street which is a frontage road along freeway. Freeway noise was noticeable, but not too bad in the rooms. I liked this hotel and would stay again.

The hotel staff was very helpful and courteous but the bed had a large stain on the comforter and the carpet and computer/office chair was also very stained. The noise of the train didn't bother me but to others it may be a problem.

A good clean hotel for the price, breakfast was better than average with biscuits/gravy, various cereals, and bagels/toast etc. The only drawback is the proximity to the freeway and the rock hard bed. Overall not bad tho.

This hotel met our needs perfectly. Easy to find in a good location. Checkin/ checkout was fast and easy. Front desk person friendly. Room was in good condition, comfortable, roomy, and best of all clean. There were only 2 towels for our 4 adults, but that was easily fixed. We could hear the freeway traffic and the train, but neither were a problem […] and neither woke us up during the night. Breakfast is great. Biscuits and sausage gravy (good gravy, not cheap stuff), hard boiled eggs, eggo waffles, toast, bagels, three kinds of muffins, cereal, milk, juice, butter, jam, cream cheese, and fruit. Swimming area is good size. Hot tub was nice. Pool is unheated, which made for a chilly evening swim and great for an afternoon swim. We were pleased with our stay. The price was a deal for our stay. The one issue we had (not enough towels), was corrected simply without complication. The room exceeded our needs, and breakfast was delicious. We recommend this hotel, and we will stay here next time we visited the area. Read more

The rooms are clean and facilities are a good value. There is easy access on and off the highway. You may need some earplugs as there are frequent trains that run at night. I had mixed experiences with the desk staff. At one point a was experiencing a problem with my room phone, and the desk clerk was a bit condescending insinuating I didn't know how […] to use a phone.
