Our stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Mill Valley was excellent. The staff is gracious and accommodating. The breakfast was tasty and abundant. The location is more than perfect. The surroundings of nature and walking and bike trails is gorgeous. The trip into Sausalito and SF is minutes away. The hotel is very nicely maintained and the rooms are spacious, […] clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back soon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Handy to freeway"
Very convenient. A comfortable, pleasant hotel. Good breakfast provided also. I would return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location, beautiful view. I was concerned about highway noise but the room was on the opposite side of the hotel from the highway with a great view of the open space and Mt. Tam in the background. Great breakfast, friendly staff. Comfortable, clean room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent stay. Joanne at front desk was very helpful and made me feel very welcomed. Definitely will come back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice place to stay. The front desk staff was awesome. Had a good nights sleep, without any interruptions. Just 7 minutes from downtown San Francisco, and minutes from downtown Mill Valley.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place, quiet and convenient to everything"
It's the ideal place to stay in the Bay Area. I grew up in the east bay, and know already that's it's better to stay in Marin than downtown SF, since it's so easy to just drive across the bridge to get downtown & to the museums & GG Park, while still being located north along 101 for easy traveling to the north or to the beaches along Hwy 1, or to the […] Richmond bridge to get to Berkeley (East bay freeways to be avoided at rush hour though). Hotel is nice, quiet, decent quick breakfast (as per usual Holiday Inn). There's also Dipsea cafe (excellent) just up the side wooden bike path (west of hotel) and a dinner restaurant next to the hotel. And a long bike/running path that goes from Sausalito to Mill Valley right behind the hotel. Also just a few minutes drive to Muir Woods. The staff here is nice and accommodating, and I'd stay here again and recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"If it's all about location..."
Being seconds away from the intersection of 101 and 1 puts you on the road to the ocean, Mt. Tamaulipas, Tiburon, and Sausalito. Very convenient location. The bed was too firm, as were the pillows. The property was well maintained for an older property. The amenities of the room were good enough, and the flat screen was the best I've seen in a motel […] like this. No robes. Only one jet in the spa puts out a good stream, but the pool and deck are very nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a work trip. The location of the hotel was great, front desk staff was very polite. The hotel had some amazing amenities like a great, free breakfast, cute fire pit outside and they give you pre-packed smores packs!, large rooms, great pool w/cabanas and hot tub (although I was too busy to use them!), lots of parking, great scenery nearby. […] I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a room in the SF area but doesn't want to pay the price of a 4 star SF hotel, this hotel has everything you need. I will definitely be staying here again, when in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Winter Time, Living Easy"
Was meeting friends up in Mill Valley, and this hotel was very close to town. The hotel was very comfortable and had a good restaurant and bar on site. The room was very clean, with a soft bed. I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel, good location, excellent customer service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I normally stay here when I'm in thus area of SF. View is great, wonderful accommodating staff, breakfast included which makes it very affordable and easy access to the 101.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was I thought going to be comfortable and it was clean. However not sound proof to room next door. Their was a baby crying on & off until after midnight and then by 6:00 a.m. it was crying. It was very frustrating and annoying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Comfortable room, convenient location, decent breakfast, loved the smores. Word of warning, though --- if there is no one in the pool, they lock it up before the posted closing time. Very disappointing to my teens who wanted a quick swim at the end of the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I wasn't expecting much from a Holiday Inn and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were nice and clean, the hotel had a modern look and feel to it. The Breakfast was adequate, nothing to write home about but the best part was the location. I was a bit apprehensive when I saw it was close to 101 but if you avoid the rooms at the back then […] it shouldn't be an issue. We loved the fact that it was close to so many trails and one could actually bike to Sausolito if desired. Surely a value for money place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty good overall"
Pros: Location, location. location. Walking distance to nothing, but a short drive from everything we wanted to do in the area. The room was clean and fairly nice, especially for the price. Cons: A bit noisy when people were loud in the hallways, which was frequent. Parking lot flooded every single morning. And the absolutely worst thing was the breakfast. […] The food was quite bad, but worse than that, there were so many people in the tiny space that the wait was unbearable. Overall: I'd skip the breakfast next time, but the hotel is otherwise well worth of the cost. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Mediocre. The hotel has deteriorated since our last stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice place clean"
all was good they gave us marshmallows and graham crackers and chocolate to make smores at their outside fire. yum!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We've stayed at this hotel for years even before they changed ownership. The location is superb, being right off the freeway and so close to so many things. It's situated in a beautiful nature preserve with birds and biking/walking trails right off the property. It's absolutely beautiful. We come to this part of the Bay Area to get into nature. This […] is where we stay. If you want to go into the city of SF, it's a couple of exits away. It's close to Sausalito, Mill Valley, Mt. Tam, etc. Also, the beds and pillows here are really comfortable. You should sleep well here. It's a small, quaint hotel with a great pool and spa area. The complimentary breakfast isn't great but their options will please someone in your family or travel group. Free Wi-Fi!!! I can't tell you how annoying it is to pay for internet service when you travel. Here, you won't. Absolutely beautiful area with lots to eat nearby. Forgot to mention there's great shopping in Corte Madera (just a couple of exits away) if you don't want to go into the city. It's a lot less crowded. They have a Container Store. Enough said. "Great locale, staff, and amenities, but thin walls"
I really like this place because of how convenient it is and how nice the rooms are. And I love the staff - so warm and welcoming! I also love the fire pit and marshmallows. However, I was surprised at how thin the walls were. I could here my neighbor's TV as if I was in the room with him. I can't remember the last time I was in a hotel where I heard […] through the walls. If possible, ask for a room not near anyone else. Then you'll be pleasantly surprised by what a great hotel this is. And it's adjacent to a delicious restaurant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome as always"
Had a great stay. I come for the pool and hot tub. I was first put in a room right next to a hard slamming door but asked to be moved and no questions asked got a room upstairs. Clean, quiet, comfortable and the breakfast is not half bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great easy place to stay !"
I was in Sausalito recently and needed a place close by. The hotel was convenient, free parking (rather than $25 per night like most SF hotels), and gave me a spacious, clean, and comfortable room. Nothing nearby to walk to - but I had a car. The restaurant next door is FABULOUS. Organic, beautiful, delicious Italian restaurant. The staff were kind […] and helpful too. "For the cost I just expected a little bit more."
It was just for one night and the breakfast was nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
Mini-Refrigerator broken everything kept freezing from freezer box that was so iced up I couldn't put anything in freezer and kept joke of door open. No microwave so no ability to heat anything other than hot water through the coffee machine which tasted like coffee for a non-coffee drinker was nasty. They had multiple trucks parked sideways in the […] back taking up 5 or 6 parking in back on nights that the hotel had no vacancy such that when I got back from work late at night I had to walk from a parking spot not associated with the hotel, past the attached restaurant into the front entrance, and through the interior all the way to the back of the hotel on the second floor where my room was located . Then to top it off it was easy to get into, but a pain to get out of as no stop light or sign and during rush hours takes literally 10 min each time just to be able to pull into the middle turn lane to be able to merge with traffic making a 10 minute drive a nearly 25 min drive to my office there. "Affordable to San Francisco area"
Good location and great staff at desk. Pretty decent complimentary breakfast and evening smores a treat. Free bicycle loaners need some work and a pump available to inflate tires. Excellent natural food sandwich/wrap shop within easy walking distance. Fun stay for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Visit with Mom"
Great view of the estuary and loads of walking/cycling paths that are paved and wide. Amazingly quiet even though it's just a few hundred yards from a major freeway. Rooms are spacious and well appointed and the breakfast service has plenty of choices. Really like the outdoor seating area with the fire pit for mornings and evenings. The pool is a good […] size the furniture and decor substantial which makes the ambiance even better. There are even beautiful hammocks tucked under the shade trees to relax. "Overpriced with squeeky bed, hair in shower"
Terrible experience and hotel is overpriced compared to what you receive! We complained after checkin upon entering our room to find a bed that was squeeky and tilted down toward headrest for an uneven level. Front desk told us they would call us back and after 30 minutes, a maintenance worker knocked on the door. Poor communication and although we […] checked in at 3pm and parking lot was empty they told us they could not change rooms as they were fully booked. Later when about to take a shower there was black hair in shower (mine is blond) and was worried that the bathroom was not cleaned. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Bikes, Breakfast and great location"
Mill Valley is close enough to SF and Sonoma that you can easily do day trips to both places and avoid traffic by timing your departure and return. The bike trails from the hotel are great and they offer free bikes on loan. Filling breakfast and very clean rooms and facilities. S'mores each evening is a great way to end the day!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is nothing special. We paid way too much for for what we got. We've stayed in San Francisco for half the price and much more luxury. At the busy continental breakfast, someone spilled creamer on the floor, and it took a good fifteen minutes for someone to clean it up. This hotel was recommended by the running club that was putting on a race […] that my husband was in. Otherwise, I don't think I would have picked it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good spot for tours of SF and Napa"
The approach underwhelms, because the turn in/turn out is difficult and the entrance is unprepossessing. But the good thing is that it only gets better thereafter. Rooms are comfortable and quiet -- the latter a surprise because of the proximity of the highway. They are not five star but they are perfectly serviceable. Same thing about the breakfast. […] The pool is a nice asset and the hot tub a real plus. (I did not try the gym.) Another nice feature is the free bicycles, giving access to lots of interesting trails right alongside the hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. The location is excellent because of the highway, easy access to Tiburon, Sausalito, Mill Valley and Mt Tamalpais (the latter definitely worth the trip), as well as SF and Napa. Good value for the money and a good base for touring. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Rooms and facilities very clean, staff polite and accommodating. Standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast, which is great unless you are a health nut like us :) Overall great experience, beautiful views, and convenient central location.Genuine Expedia guest review
Terrific location for accessing San Francisco, Sausalito and Mill Valley. Right along a walking, biking path. It is in an odd spot right near the interchange with 101, but you get used to finding your way in and out depending which direction you are going. Lovely outside fireplace. Nice breakfast room. Comfortable room with nice furnishings, good shower, […] fridge. Would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value for SFO .....if you have transport"
This is a typical holiday Inn Express, clean, and the property well looked after. The rooms are smaller in the back building, our friends were in the front, or main building and had a much bigger room. The beds and linens were not top quality, and I found the sheets scratchy and the mattress just OK. The walls are like paper....I heard the whole conversation […] the man next door had with the airlines trying to change his ticket, and my friend said she heard her husband talking on the phone after she had closed the door. there is no air con, so if you have to sleep with the windows open, noisy residents parking their cars late at night may wake you. Breakfast was good, and pretty crowded, some days they opened up another room which was great. Coffee in the lobby all day and till late at night, as well as a coffee machine in the room. The price was good, but we were not within walking distance of much. We had a car so drove to Sausalito and parked in a valet spot across from the ferry..... About a 5 min drive. The staff were friendly and helpful, and in all a pleasant stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Location was excellent, close to San Francisco and points north. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool and hot tub were beautiful. There is a great jogging and bike path right next to the hotel. Would recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place close to Sausalito"
Nice place, although I had to request a more quiet room as the original one I had was near the heavt windstream and was howling loudly. The bed was very comfortable, hard water pressure etc. The complimentary breakfast was nice, excluding the powdered eggs and other bulk not fresh hot items. All in all the location was great, I would go again.Genuine Expedia guest review

It was the perfect location for visiting San Francisco, state parks and the wine country. Let's you drive across the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. Nice heated pool. Kids had a great time with the evening smores by the courtyard fire.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
In trying to find a hotel in the SF area, I looked for three things: 1) Free parking 2) Free breakfast 3) Free wifi We found all of these things and more! The breakfast was tasty, with anything you could desire (eggs, bacon, muffins, bagels, pancakes, yogurt, cold cereal, fruit, etc. From 4-7pm, delicious chocolate chip cookies are in the lobby along […] with fruit infused water. From 7-10pm the front desk gives out s'mores packets that you take and make over at their outdoor fire pit off the lobby. As a bonus, there is an outdoor heated saltwater pool, and a large spa. Water temps were perfect and we enjoyed each night. Wifi was strong and very easy to access. Would definitely come back and would recommend to others. Booking a head of time can also save a lot of $$ too. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"What's that smell?"
Nice appearance and good location but there was a very musty smell in the room. The cooling system barely cooled and did nothing to mitigate the odor. The bathtub was slow to drain (after the drain plug was figured out) and I always had water on or over my ankles.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent location, friendly staff, good value"
A real 'find' for Marin County---very near the freeway (without freeway sounds) as well as only a few exits before the entrance to the Golden Gate Bridge. Located on the Shoreline Highway leading to Muir Woods and Stinson Beach. An excellent Northern Italian restaurant right next door, which doesn't look like much from the outside, but has a beautiful […] interior, and features many homemade basics---pasta, bread, etc.---along with a very good California wine list. The hotel facility itself has been refurbished, with added amenities like a heated tile floor in the bathroom; good shower, pleasant room accessories, and comfortable beds, etc. Your hotel fee includes a continental breakfast every morning from 6:30 to 9 AM---in a rather crowded little dining area, but the selections are serviceable, if not great. The one real downside is that the audibility of upstairs guests is greater than one would like, just because it is a fairly old building. There are good workout facilities, an indoor pool, and an outdoor fire pit. The hotel also has the unique offering of bicycle rentals, with a connecting bike path, and maps to other bicycle paths in the vicinity. The hotel was at full capacity all four nights I was there (Tues. through Fri. summer nights), which speaks well for the facility. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
