"Great location, a bit over priced"
Great location. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants, 4-mile beach, and marina. Although having a kitchen was nice, the wood slat bathroom door did not provide any sound privacy. All in all a good spot if you can get a good price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"wonderful small hotel"
We loved it! Personal service, perfect location. Very charming. A little piece of paradise.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location but expensive for what you got"
The location was great being right in the center of town and across the road from the beach. Going to sleep and waking up with the sound of the ocean was so nice. The hotel itself was fine but way too expensive for what you got. We stayed for 7 nights and payed $350 per night! That's more than I pay per night for the hotels in Times Square New York! […] Very hard to justify that kind of price and expected a lot more for that kind of money. I would not stay there again for that price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel in a great location"
We had a fabulous stay. You cannot have a better base from which to explore the area and the quality of accommodation was excellent - rooms were clean and comfortable, hotel service was friendly and helpful and the location within walking distance to Port Douglas main street and across the road from the beach. Breakfast was excellent - although for […] a hotel of this calibre something larger than a 2 slice toaster might be a worthwhile investment to minimise guest waiting time. The only fault was the hit and miss internet access during our stay but otherwise second to none. If we ever come back up this way we will definitely be staying here, no doubt about it. "Great hotel right by the beach"
If you're looking for an opulent 5 star hotel this is not it - but if you're looking for a very comfortable boutique hotel with just the best service then choose the Peninsula. It's not very large - more intimate really, it's very friendly and welcoming, and it makes the very best of its location - most rooms (including our coral suite) look out to […] the beach and the sea - there is a line of trees but you still see and hear the ocean. Most people seemed to be on B&B rates, and one area the hotel could improve is the breakfasts - most mornings the eggs were either underdone or bullet hard. However, this was one minor problem in an otherwise great stay. The owners and staff were so helpful - advising on the best tours and even running us across to the marina one day when it was raining hard. They knew about all the tour discounts too and made sure we got them. The hotel has a good cafe known by locals for its good coffee, and the cocktails were excellent too. The location isn't just right by the beach, it's at one end if the main street in town so it's also close to good shops and restaurants. If we can get back to Port Douglas another stay at the Peninsula will be one of the main attractions. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in room 2 which is the closest room to the bar and kitchen. You could hear them setting up on the mornings, which made it hard to sleep in.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A very relaxing place to stay."
Great location across the road from beach. The village is just around the corner. The perfect place for a rest it is quiet, the food is yummy and staff lovely very comfortable roomsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great position next to beach"
There are flashier hotels to stay in Port Douglas, but none have the outlook of this one.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Stayed 5 nights"
Got picked up from Cairnes airport, so that is a good way to start. Great location with a walk across the quiet road to the beach. The pool at the hotel is great too. We had a lovely sea view from our room/balcony but it doesn't get the afternoon sun, whereas the rooms over the pool do, so depends what you want. Close to the shops etc and kitchen facilities […] in the room were good. Although the room rate is high, that is the going rate - and we would probably stay there again. We stayed in July, we have heard since that September is the best weather (not too hot or windy) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel is in a superb location, directly opposite beach. We would certainly stay there again but there were a few minor hiccups which were annoying. When we arrived the fridge had been incorrectly turned off and for the first few days the wifi did not work in the room( some adjustment had to be made to the connection). During our stay the lock on our […] door decided not to lock any more and it took 36hrs to get that fixed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location and Wonderful Service"
We wish our stay were longer. The location of the hotel and the service can not be faulted. The room was clean and comfortable and well layed out with it's own small deck. The cooking facilities were completely appropriate for the room, and the furnishing is nice. We cannot find a negative that should affect any decision to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful in all aspects"
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our 5 days stay at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel. Service was prompt, efficient and combined with smiles and great attitude. Early each morning a typed paper full of various activity suggestions for the day was pushed under our door. Organising taxis, tours, etc was no trouble. We were very impressed. The Hotel location […] is perfect with 4 Mile Beach just across the road and Port Douglas Village only a hundred meters away. We hope to repeat our visit to the Peninsula Hotel again soon. "Not a great respite from the wind"
I will preface this by saying the weather wasn't great, and this may have influenced my review. The hotel is in a great spot, just across a boulevard from the beach, and the staff were attentive and happy. The pool was lovely, and sheltered from the howling onshore winds, so that was great, and breakfast was adequate. The room was tired, a broken window […] and missing fan switch seem minor, but it is an expensive place, and I was surprised by these things. It just shows it's age, not enough light, too many dark wood panels, and uncomfortable chairs that you don't want to sit in. Overall, a bit disappointing, but perhaps if the sun had been shining it would not have mattered! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful place to stay."
Lovely small hotel, very personal and accommodating staff. Beautiful pool area and foliage lush and colourful. Everything was great. In house food was delicious and so reasonably priced. The rooms are relatively expensive but worth it. We had a lovely room overlooking the water with a great balcony. Easy access to washing machines, dryer, towels just […] make life easy. Only thought was that the mattresses might need a change as getting a little uncomfortable. We would love to return as we felt it was a great atmosphere, very relaxing. "Very good hotel."
Great location walking distance to main village and right on the beach. Meals were good and reasonably priced compared to other restaurants. Self contained ocean suite was great and would highly recommend, although you pay for it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel with kind friendly staff and proprietors"
10/24/14 RupertTBear Weston, Herts
We stayed here as part of a New Zealand & Australia holiday via Trailfinders. The hotel organised airport transfers which went very smoothly indeed, on arrival we were greeted by a really lovely receptionist who gave us our door passes and helped us to our room. I have to say I wasn't expecting such a high standard of hotel, but it excelled in every way. Clean well equipped rooms withself catering facilities if you need them. Not sure why you wouldn't use the excellent breakfast or the restaurant as these were also really good. It is situated right on the sea front and we had a spectacular view towards the sea. We would definitely recommend it to couples who want high standards and a friendly small hotel. Well done to Sheryn and Phil for producing such a great hotel, we hope to see you again soon.
"Excellent accomodation and service"
10/23/14 Petty4 Melbourne, Australia
My husband and I recently stayed 9 nights in FNQ staying in Palm Cove, Port Douglas and our final 2 nights at Silky Oaks Lodge. We rate the standard of accommodation and service at Peninsula Boutique by far the best. I agree totally with other reviews down to the welcoming cold drink on arrival, great breakfast buffet, superior room facilities, great pool and friendly and helpful staff. Its in a picture perfect location opposite 4 mile beach with a short stroll to Macrossan St. We highly recommend you consider staying here.
"Brilliant Position Great Hotel"
10/20/14 GaryTheRoamer Melbourne, Australia
This is the fifth time we've stayed at Port Douglas, but the first at this lovely hotel. We checked it out during our visit last year and decided it was for us. It's in a brilliant position fronting onto Four Mile Beach and one block from the shops. Only 34 rooms makes it a cozy and intimate stay. Staff we're warm and helpful (we made a mistake with our booking dates but this was quickly fixed with minimum fuss). Good restaurant, buffet breakfast by the lovely pool. Will definitely be returning.
"Couldn't be better"
10/18/14 Dick R Perth, Australia
My wife and I spent 5 nights in this small boutique style hotel as part of our first trip to far north Queensland on the occasion of my wife's 80th birthday. What a very fortunate choice this proved to be. We were greeted on arrival, following a fairly long road journey from Cooktown, by the delightful Sheryn, (owner/host/manager) with a glass of ice cold water and face cloth - something never previously experienced here or overseas. Lovely touch stamping the quality of this hotel from the very start. Our room was large, light, clean, comfortable, and well appointed, separated into a living/dining area and bed area with lovely comfortable queen bed, each area with fan and air conditioner. The bathroom was large with bath and separate shower (cheers - can't stand shower over bath). The balcony overlooked a strip of palm and casuarina trees by the 4 mile beach and Coral Sea, where the breaking waves brought back memories of my childhood in England - very relaxing. The restaurant is small, outside again overlooking the beach and sea, and we enjoyed lunch there on two occasions - lovely seafood chowder. The breakfast area was in the pool area, and I can only say that this was the ideal form of buffet breakfast and absolutely lovely. There was adequate area undercover for our hire car. Overall then we consider this to be an outstanding hotel, as good as any that we have stayed at here or overseas, and including the Singapore Raffles! Unconditionally recommended and we look forward to our next visit and stay there.
"Wish we were still there"
My husband and I stayed here in late Sept/early Oct. We absolutely loved it- the location is perfect- right opposite the beach and a quick stroll to shops and restaurants. The room was well presented and clean, staff were super friendly and helpful. We loved having access to washing machines: less clothing to pack. Children free was fabulous: a great way to escape families on school holidays. Breakfast selection was good and tasty, didn't really change what was available (having said that, we also stayed at the Hilton in Cairns where breakfast was bland)We highly recommend this hotel.

This was a simply wonderful hotel to spend our last 3 nights in OZ. The room was so very comfortable with lovely touches like a Nespresso Coffee maker and wonderfully luxurious toiletries. The hotel looks out over the beach, so only a short hop across the road to 4 miles of wonderfully sandy beach. The breakfast is very good indeed and the lovely lady who runs the breakfast delivers exemplary customer service. In fact all the staff are very helpful and friendly. Free WiFi is an added bonus and works well. I would absolutely recommend this hotel it was lovely!
"Peninsular Boutique Hotel - fabulous accommodation"
10/14/14 James D London, United Kingdom
The Peninsular Boutique hotel Port Douglas is fabulous. The suites are astonishing beautifully equipped with stunning views, we were lucky to experience a lunar eclipse whilst there we viewed it from our balcony. There is a laundry room on site which is completely free and much needed by us as we had toured for two weeks before reaching Port Douglas. The hotel is situated 2 minutes walk from four mile white sandy beach, they lent us two beach chairs and you can take the pool towels to the beach. Buffet breakfast was excellent, one could ask for anything if not on the counter. Good evening meals, menu a little limited but excellent value.
"Hidden Hotel Gem in Port Douglas"
10/13/14 John J Bonita Springs
Just finished 4 great nights at the hotel. We loved the location. Not only did we have a great view and the sound of the ocean from our balcony but we were just a block from down town Port Douglas. The in house restaurant is exceptional with great dining selections. Our room was a spacious suite with kitchenette as well as living area separate from the bedroom and bath. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with virtually everything you could want. However the staff really make this hotel special. The pamper you, attend to your every need and willingly pitch in when issues arise. When our transportation to Cairns airport was late Sharon jumped on the phone and got us transportation to insure we met our departure time. A stay here is like the old days of service and caring about the guest.
"Perfect relaxing location"
10/12/14 Iduj2013 Melbourne, Australia
Warm welcome, lovely staff, clean rooms, great position across from the beach, lovely room with balcony on three sides and a great view of the beach. Easy walk to town centre and marina.... Breakfast was a wide choice although if you wanted a 'real coffee' you had to pay for it..would definitely stay here again. Most guests appeared to be a little older than the newly weds so a quiet and restful place to stay

Perfectly located just across the road from the beach and minutes away from the main street. We really enjoyed a peaceful stay at the Peninsula and found the staff exceptionally helpful - we had a problem with a late collection to the Marina for a trip to the GBR and the receptionist helpful in contacting the tour operator on our behalf - even offered to drive us to the marina. We ate dinner at the hotel on two evenings and was impressed by the quality and value for money - particularly enjoyed the surf & turf. Much cheaper than the restaurants in town! Our room was spacious with great views overlooking the beach. Would certainly go back!
