Red Roof Inn Chapel Hill - UNC - Durham

Just grabbed this room as a good stop between vacation destination. It was a great surprise that for such a low price we got such an awesome room. Great bed, nicely sized shower and a flat screen HDTV. It was unbelievably clean and homey feeling. Will totally stay at more Red Roof Inn's to see if they've all been remodeled like this.

This hotel was very modestly priced compared to others nearby. I booked a room with them only because nothing else was available. When I arrived I was surprised at how nicely the grounds were kept, although the building itself is a bit aged. The rooms, however, were clean and updated. I especially liked that the floors were wood (so no smelly carpet), […] the bedspreads washable, and the furniture surfaces all cleanable. Really very pleasant, quiet and very clean. I expected a clean chain hotel. Instead, we wound up in a construction site! All rooms on the first two floors were ripped out for "renovation." 1,500 characters is not enough to describe the horrors of this experience. The room are being renovated. Construction is still in process. There were supply trailers all over the rear parking lot which was where we were placed. The bead bolt did not work. The superior king room was beautiful. On the way to the room saw an old an dirty shower curtain. Some trash here and there. Upon leaving ran into a lot of room service carts at elevator all were unattended. Exterior needs a face lift.

Overall the hotel fit my needs since I only planned to sleep there for a visit to Chapel Hill to watch a basketball game. It is about 4 miles from campus and is next to the highway. I had a two day stay at the Red Roof Inn, it was late when I got back to my room and could not get into the room I was locked out. I had to go to the front desk and the guy there had to reactivate my keys he could not tell me why they locked me out of my room.

Everything was satisfactory except trying to find the entrance. I was told by the front desk that the town of Chapel Hill will not allow them to put a sign on the entrance road, which is actually not visible from the main road or the hotel. We booked a smoke-free room through your website and they gave us a smoking room. Since all the rooms were booked, they couldn't make any changes for us. Our towels, room and bed stunk. My stay went very well. Getting into the hotel parking lot was a challenge. I made a wrong turn and had to drive 8 minutes out the way t get back. This motel is convenient to the interstate and is inexpensive. The room was small and the bathroom downright tiny. There was no refrigerator or hair dryer. But the room was inexpensive.
