well first off the lobby was very dirty the restroom in the lobby was filthy floor was nasty and toilet also a durty mop was in there to the employees do not have any coustomer service skills, they complianed about having to put roll away matresses in the room. mattres in room was saggin and rooms smelled very bad the carpet were very dirty and shower […] was filthy and room attendants were all outside talking and hugging on there boy friends and kissing them , staff there was less than helpful in any way. I was a head house keeper at a major hotel chain for over 15 yrs. and the way we were treated buy the staff and the condition in which the rooms were in was not good at all needless to say we are never going to stay at this property again! i only give it a one star as there are no lower stars than that simply put i would rather stay in a tent than at the Howard Jhonson in Flagstaff! I'm not sure how they got a 3.9 rating! The hotel is old, entrances on outside, steps no elevator. Rooms are small, furniture old and dirty, carpet very dirty, old and stained. Everything just felt worn out. The only redeeming quality was the mattress! Bed was clean. Dust on all funiture, carpet had not been vaccumed. Had plastic fork on floor, paper on floor, mirror was dirty. Ok stay, but disappointed in cleanliness. I stayed 2 years ago and thought it was so nice we decided to stay this year. Disappointed.

We checked in to the hotel around midnight and left the next morning at 7am. We were hardly there long enough to give a true 'review' of the hotel. The room wasn't fancy, but it was fine for the night. We choose this hotel because the reviews on hotels.com were positive AND because Flagstaff is within 1/5 hours or so to the Grand Canyon. You need to post that the hotel has no elevators - just stairs. Husband just had knee surgery - Very difficult to get to the room. Hotels suggestion was to call everytime before you come. Suggestions for others not frealising there may not be rooms on 1st floor. Easy to find the location off of I40.

I did not stay!! Room was HOT. AC would not cool it down. Went to front desk and was told that maintenance person would be back in 30 minutes. (How many times have you heard that one!) When first going to the room assigned, it has not been made up yet. This was past 3 in the afternoon! This sometimes happens so my wife and I went down the street to […] eat. When we returned I lugged our luggage up the two flights of stairs and was hoping that the room was ok. After allowing enough time for the ac to do it's job it did not. After hearing the story from the desk, I went to the motel next door and secured a room there for the night (It was downstairs and the ac worked). At this HJ I noticed a lot of people, 8 or so, outside of their rooms sitting and standing outside. I had to assume that they had the same problem and it was not just the room I was assigned. Convenient to freeway and flagstaff. Tried to use safe but was told there was an extra charge since we booked online. Breakfast consisted of corn flakes, fruit loops, mini bagels, donuts, or waffles. Healthy cereal choices such as oatmeal would be nice!
