Stayed overnight, and the whole experience was great. Checkin was quick, and since they were doing some elevator maintenance they gave me some free drink coupons. The room was wonderful! "Very nice, but terrible valet service"
Other than incredibly slow elevators, I have only one negative thing to say about the Magnolia Hotel. As I was driving a company van with a tall clearance, I called ahead to verify that the valet service had an open air lot available prior to booking a room. I was assured that they did, by the head valet. However, upon arriving the valets argued with […] me saying that they had no where to park my vehicle. After a bit of discussion, the parking issue was resolved. However, after checking out the following morning and turning over my ticket to the valet, I was left waiting for over 45 minutes for my vehicle. At first I assumed this was due to the large number of guests leaving at the same time. But after seeing several guests come up and leave after me, I confronted the head valet who had taken my ticket. This individual proceeded to very rudely tell me that the van was parked right around the corner, as if it was my fault that I was unaware of this fact. When I arrived to check in. I was told that the room I booked was given to someone else because the roof was leaking in their room. "The little things DO MATTER!"
My wife and I were excited to stay in a vintage (older) hotel for her 1/2 marathon in late march 2014. However, we found that many of the little things (in regards to service) were completely missing. Cold room service breakfast - all three days, including a curdled milk incident the morning of her race. She was appalled when she went to get some food […] for her race and took a bite of spoiled/curdled milk. Upon our departure, after waiting almost 20 minutes for a bellman, we took our nine bags down ourselves (A lot of running gear came with us). The kicker was the bellman in the elevator on the way down who politely opened the elevator door; but proceeded to walk past us and not offer assistance. We ordered our rental car to be ready for us at the same time we requested a bellman. To our disgust they hadn't even left to pick up the car when we arrived at the bell stand. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff was very apologetic when we complained about the type of service we received, but after four phone calls during our stay to "complain" about their service.....it was just enough. Needless to say we don't ever plan on staying at this hotel again. "Quick trip with the grand daughters"
Spent only one night, now wish it had been more. They loved the hotel, most especially the Pegasus in the lobby and the cookie and milk hour in the evening! Very close to the arts district. "Delightful Hotel With Lots of Extras"
My first visit to Dallas and I am so glad I chose the Magnolia. The décor was unique, the service was polite and prompt and the location was ideal for my purposes. It was within walking distance of the JFK sites and next door to one of my favorite restaurants, CBD at the Joule Hotel. (Which was also cool, but MUCH more expensive than the Magnolia.) […] Who else has a free cocktail hour, warm cookies at night and a free breakfast buffet, which was wonderful. I was attending the theater each night and returned too late for the warm cookies, but was brought a plate of them personally by one of the staff at the bar area. My room was minimalistic, comfortable and had 6 windows overlooking the city. The only reason I gave the condition of the hotel a 4 instead of 5 is the elevators, which were a little worse for wear and could be extremely slow. "really nice hotel"
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend getaway the hotel was immaculate. It was fairly busy between private parties and business meetings. The morning breakfast was really nice they had more than the regular fruit and toast most hotels offer and Milk and cookies was served nightly. This hotel was awesome. The service was impeccable and the rooms are like apartments, with a fully stocked kitchen, which we were not expecting. If you stay here try to get a good high floor so you can get a good view. Our view was wonderful. Our only issue was that the room was freezing, but they have an actual comforter not just a blanket in the closet […] that made up for that...plus we had each other.
