When I first got there the room they gave me was HORRIBLE. Looked like something I would not even put a dog in. They gave me another room and that room was still horrible. So I went down to the lobby and told the guy behind the desk I could NOT stay in that room. The manager came over and said he could show me another room, which was way better. He […] explained they were in the process of renovation, but still those first two rooms were horrid. I would never go back there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"In NY on business and on a budget"
10 day business trip. Very spacious and a great price for NY, although a bit out of the way location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice small hotel.no parking on site and closest parking garage was full. Otherwise nice room,a little small. Clean and very friendly and helpful staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"solid, but not elegant"
solid, but not elegant. good value. irritated that we were woken up at 7:30 by a scam call that is running through the neighborhood which wasn't hotels fault but was irritating nonetheless. Would stay there again because of price and location but not for upscale lodgers who want more style. Would have okay if the room had some more heat. Room are very cold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This stay was for a little couples weekend away from all those things you need a break from. We wanted to stay in a cozy hotel, something where we could just be together and order from the local diner. When we got to the hotel lobby, the staff was friendly, the service was great. Then we got to the room! It was clean, it was spot on! We even got a room […] with a view of the river! It was just glorious! Honestly this hotel is a MUST STAY HOTEL! Enjoyed my stay. Convenient to 1,2,3 subway and its elevator. Needs more hall way signs. Had trouble finding where to get ice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Much improvement needed"
Rented this room to attend a concert at the Beacon Theater, wasn't looking for terrific quality but this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, not worth the money. I would recommend spending the extra 50-70 bucks to get a quality stay at the Sheraton or something. Room was not great. 3 channels on the television with horrible quality. Chair for the […] desk didn't fit under the desk. It was January and cold in the room and the only heat was a AC unit in the window, the heat did not work on that. Elevator button to go down from the 9th floor didn't work. Did have free WiFi - if you're into that - and front desk was very nice and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"My PERSONAL Experience"
So I reserved the Queen bed suite and it was amazing! The bed was nicely made, the room was spot on! The bathroom was a little smaller than I expected but was clean and very nice. I did have some trouble hooking up a system to the television but eventually got it figured out. There was a bit of noise outside but it's New York and I didn't mind. It was […] a great expierence and I would definitely do it again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was good ! But they should upgrade! They should have new tv and cable in the room ! It would be niceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I really have trouble rating this hotel... There are some questionable people living at the hotel. One man got uncomfortably close to me in the elevator and made advance which made me feel very unsafe. At first, we were put in a room on the 2 floor where the wifi didn't work at all. The room was decent with a king size bed which is what we booked. I […] couldn't be without the wifi, so the front desk switched us to a room on a higher floor which had enough wifi to do basic things, but would not stream on iPad. Also, this room had a double bed and we paid for a king.... You cannot control the heat in the rooms. One night it wasn't working and maintenance had to come up at 11pm to fix it. Very uncomfortable.... The elevators take forever to come but their are 2 of them so you can run back and forth and see which one will be first..haha..On a better note the front desk has some very nice people. I was freezing one night and I was brought up a blanket Immediately. The floors where you get ice, 11th floor, is very nice and renovated. So if you can I would get a premiere room because I believe those are on the 11th floor. The hotel is in a wonderful area. Just book with caution knowing these things...the strange characters living there make me feel weird thinking of this as a "hotel"... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lots of problems"
Unhappy that the in-room WIFI did NOT work. It was one of the main reasons I booked the hotel. Also had no heat adjustment. The room temp was dictated by the hotel... Elevators slow or broken. Would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"DO NOT STAY HERE"
Hallways had bugs. Floor was supposed to be non-smoking but reeked of smoke. Front desk clerk did change our room to one that was marginally cleaner, but still not a pleasant place to take one's shoes off. Duct tape trying but failing to close vents around window A/C. No manager available to discuss conditions in the morning. We checked out after […] one night. Do NOT stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK if all you do is sleep there"
Room 716 (queen bed) Pros - Renovated bathroom with makeup mirror - Nice water temperature setting - Temperature of the room was perfect Cons - Room smelled old (smoking room) - Stains on the desk chair & bath towel - Makeup mirror was placed behind the bathroom door which chipped the paint - Small counter space in the bathroom - Heater was old & […] really loud - Thin walls We felt insulted. They could've at least washed out the white stains on the chair, checked any stains on the towels and repainted the bathroom door and wall. Room 803 (double room: full bed + one twin) Pros - Separate kitchenette area - Comfortable bed and temperature of the room - This room didn't smell (nonsmoking room) Cons - Street noises - Window frames were taped - Water in the shower would suddenly turn into burning hot water - Small counter space in the bathroom Non room-related info - Excellent location, close to the subway (1, 2, 3) and great eating options - Friendly staff - Business center has 3 computers and a printing machine (not free) - The gym room has 1 bike and 1 treadmill - They charge you extra if you want a fridge in your room (no microwave though) - They have a luggage room - I had mail and they had not notified me Would recommend only if: - You're on a tight budget - All you do is sleep there - You're okay with an old, non fancy-looking hotel and small space Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A long weekend to NYC"
I booked my hotel room from Hotels.com to NYC. Due to the time of year (after Christmas but before New Years), there was a long line of patrons waiting to check in. There were only two front desk staff working throughout our stay (3 nights). We booked a standard room with a king bed. The person that checked us in was pleasant, until I returned later […] to complain. He gave us a standard room with a double bed. There were three of us (one child) which is why I booked the king bed. He was trying to say that I booked a standard room. I agreed, with the exception of a KING bed. He finally switched us the correct set up, only after I said that he would have to give us an extra sheets and blankets to make up a bed from the chair included in the bed. Once he switched us, everything was fine. The neighborhood was great and it was extremely close to a subway stop. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Worth the price. The location is good. Located at a block from a subway station makes it very convenient and easy access to any area in Manhattan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean with hissing radiator"
Front desk service was excellent. The hotel was old but clean, with updated bed and bathroom. However, the steam valve on the radiator hissed loudly on and off and the room was too hot. The only recourse would have been to turn on the AC; there were no individual room temperature controls. Hertz secure parking garage around the block was $27 for 24 […] hours-- a decent price for Manhattan. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The ghost of the hotel's recent status as an SRO seemed evident. There were no blankets on the bed and we had to sit up half an hour after a late night waiting for one to be brought up before spending a chilly night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"a good location at a good price"
Hotel was a bit shabby but in a perfect location for us. Our bed had a big dip in the middle, but the room was clean. There was a loud group of young people in the room next to us on one of our nights, but the other two nights were quiet. So, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the price was right.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Where did they get those pictures?!"
First off I have to say the pictures they provided are totally misleading! My room looked nothing like the rooms depicted in the listing. My wall paper was peeling, there were water damage spots on the ceiling, loose footing under the carpet, and just plain dated looking. It was like a scene from a movie where the bad guy had to find a place to hide […] out, complete with the small tube tv and sirens outside every hour. 2 of the elevators didn't work, and it was quite a good wait for the other two elevators being that they are the older model, cramp elevators, and we're not hiking from the 8th floor everytime we want to get into the city. The cleaning staff wants to work on their schedule, never mind that you're still occupying the room because it's 9am, and you're not ready to go out and about. But when we asked her to come back in an hour, she didn't come back till that evening, as her last stop before clocking out, and by then we're back in the room and she's acting like we the guest are an inconvenience for her. And did I mention the smell? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Solid hotel for reasonable price"
My fiance and I stayed here for a weekend get away. It is very close to Central Park and the 96th st station which connects to the 2 & 3 express trains to downtown, making it easy to get around. It is an older hotel but you can't really beat it for the money, especially in the time before Christmas. Parking was also cheaper here than at other hotels […] because of their relationship with a Hertz parking garage. Room a bit small but cozy and the bathroom was new/clean. I would recommend if your looking for a solid place to stay for a reasonable price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Okay for a short stay"
Great hotel for the star rating. Definitely more than I would like to pay, but I think the prices were hiked because of the popular weekend. 10-15mins by subway to Time Square and 30 less than a 2 minute walk from the subway made this accommodation worthwhile.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not bad for the price. The elevator is very small and frequently busy so it takes a while to get to you. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean. Can't really complain for the cost.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for a quick trip"
I was in NY for an interview. It was a good hotel for the price. The concierge helped to arrange a hotel shuttle, and the bellman was very helpful holding bags during my interview. "worst experience in a hotel"
The room was clean but the shower was deplorable. The TV had close to 20 channels. Plus there was hardly any heat in the room. Plus only one ice machine on the 11th floor. The room was definitely not worth the price point.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent clean hotel"
This hotel is not a 5 star, but it is clean, maintained, and comfortable to stay in. I recommend it, I didn't have any problems staying here, and the staff was nice. Looks like they are trying to slowly renovate this hotel. The renovated areas look good. But the areas not yet renovated are clean and maintained, so you can't really ask for more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good bang for the buck"
For nyc I thought the room was quite sufficient. It was clean and the bathroom was bright and clean. The towels smelled clean and they were soft! The bed was comfortable. I wasn't there to spend lots if time in the room so it served my purpose. I would stay there again!Genuine Expedia guest review
Rooms are small, bathroom was small but ok for the price and ok for whats available in Manhattan. The location is Great for people who like the West side. The subway, bus or a $9.00 cab ride would get you to any place on the West side of Central park , and from Times Square to Harlem.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel not far from Central Park"
The staff were all very, very, nice. I would recommend coming here just for that. No hotel restaurant, but you're right next door to places with food. The rooms were small, but I'll chalk that up to going to NYC on a budget. Again very courteous and attentive staff. Things that went wrong: we didn't get our extra towels. (no biggie, because we were […] very tired and got them the following day). Noisy neighbor. (Door was heard opening and closing all night and I wanted to recommend that the hotel pick up a spray can of WD40. Turned out it was a guest that was being a problem, and I had the unfortunate opportunity to hear him rant about being kicked out. I can only guess as to what trouble he was causing, but I did hear what I would assume to be his door constantly being opened and then closed. The hotel took care of the problem guest right away, although it made me a bit nervous. Overall though, I enjoyed my stay and might return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good location very close to the subway, clean rooms but everything, including elevators, was way too small. No restaurant/breakfast on site. I did an upgrade at check-in for 50$ but it wasn't worth it. I was provided with what I was told were breakfast vouchers but had to fully pay for our meal in the cafe at the corner the next day. "Dirty, dilapidated, very tight & some rude staff"
I knew going into the hotel that it was a lower end hotel and was willing to accept the level of service; however, what I did not expect was that the room would be as bad as it was. The lobby looks relatively decent but that is where it ends. The area near the elevator is dirty and had litter in the hallway. Once on the floor where the room was the […] carpets were dirty and the hallways were so tight it was hard to even walk through with a small roller bag in tow. Inside the room the paint was peeling off the wall, carpets were terribly stained and dirty, the cover was broken off the radiator and the heat did not work. Upon leaving I accidentally left a pair of jeans inside the room so I called (9:30AM) and was directed (electronically) to housekeeping where nobody answered and I left a voicemail. After 8 hours later (5:30PM) when I received no return call I called and talked to the front desk where they told me I would have to talk to housekeeping and transferred me before I could even explain that I had already left a voicemail; again, housekeeping did not answer so I left another voicemail. At 3PM the following day I called again and was directed to voicemail again so I left a 3rd voicemail. The following day I was able to go back to the hotel and spoke to the front desk where they very rudely barked at me "there is a process for retrieving lost items and that process starts with you calling to confirm the items are here before you come here."
