I spent one night in the hotel March 2013. It is very nice and the staff were friendly. The breakfast is fine as well. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone asks about a nice hotel in Cardiff away from the city centre. The hotel is about 10 minutes drive from the city centre.

We were made very welcome at the Hotel on what was a very cold weekend. Room was excellent, clean and tidy and bed very comfortable. We had a meal in the Raglan Resturant which was very nice and good value. We are planning to use this Hotel again.

Stayed at the Copthorne again after 2 years and if it was in need of a refurb then, it's desperate for one now. Food and room service was good, check in staff a bit lethargic and the overall hotel looks like a hangover from the 1990's

The website images are somewhat misleading - our room had a lovely view of McDonalds and our friends were presented with the majestic view of...Pizza Hut. The check-in and restaurant staff were very friendly but the hotel in general is airless and a bit tired.

Hotel fine , nice and convenient but the breakfast facility had more of a workmans cafe about it than a top quality hotel. How about some cloths on the table and cups and saucers rather than a mug for tea and coffee. After all you charge good money for it.

I have stayed in the Copthorne many times and generally speaking, i am always pleased with the room and service. This time my evening meal was marred by a cold Raglan restaurant. The food was delicious and hot on arrival but my guest and I felt very cold throughout the meal which did not make it a pleasing event. Can something be done please to warm […] the place up or at least check and maintain the heating. The receptionists need to speak more clearly and not rush their questions on my arrival. There was almost a robotic approach to my arrival with questions and statements that they had doubtless repeated many times that day until they could speak the lines in their sleep. I HAVE NOW STAYED HERE TWICE WHILST ON BUSINESS IN THE SOUTH WALES AREA. THE LOCATION IS IDEAL FOR ROAD NETWORKS AND EASY TO FIND. PLUS NEAR A MAIN TESCO STORE, WITH FILLING STATION. ALSO A SHOPPING PARADE VERY NEAR AND WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. THERE IS PLENTY OF PARKING AT THE HOTEL AND SECURITY GOOD TOO. this hotel has a good bar and is priced average, the heating is on a timer and the room was cold during the day ,there are no bars near by so you are stuck in there once you have checked in but overall not bad

Stayed here twice now. Staff are always friendly and the rooms are always clean. Quite pricey considering it isn't in the centre of cardiff but it is well situated and did the job. Good shower, spacey room but hairdryer very old and faulty.

The room was dated and although the welcome was OK there were issues. The room had a faulty radiator which made a constant clicking noise. We also had a number of other inconsiderate guests which added up to no sleep. When this was pointed out to reception the staff with poor english said sorry but nothing was done. Location somewhat depressing no obvious local amenities, McDonalds opposite. The Hotel was somewhat dated in parts and in need of updating. The outdoor part of the bar was closed, curtains, carpets, some decoration such as swimming pool ceiling desperately needed updating, sauna lighting blown, mens changing had mediocre wet flooring. The Hotel is positioned close to a busy junction, but its landscaping stops a lot of the noise. The amenities are good and the staff very professional. The atmosphere is nicely relaxed and the open lounge is comfortable.

The availability of the pool and jacuzzi was a real attraction for us, also the easy access to the retail outlet, and the centre of Cardiff. I did not find the bed comfortable, but my daughter reported hers was comfortable.

Lovely hotel, however we found the bed to be far too soft while the small pillows were extremely hard. Breakfast dining area was very pleasant and there was a good and varied choice of food. However, the cooked food appeared to be somewat under done and the toaster only produced either white or burnt toast. I regretted paying the extra for breakfast […] when making the booking as it turned out not to be the value for money I'd expected, since I know I could have purchased a well cooked breakfast at several nearby restaurants and eaterys. which I would have enjoyed more. Hotel was fine but room smelt of cigarette smoke - presumably previous occupants had smokey clothes as the fire alarm would have gone off otherwise. Very nice outlook over pond and comfortable bed.

we only stayed one night as planned. overall the hotel was good, the staff were friendly. there was a hair on the mat in the bath tub which was not pleasant - i always hate to find somebody else's hair when staying in hotels, in the bed/bath or wherever. i find it quite off putting. there was also an issue when my partner ordered room service, the card […] machine didn't work and there was a bit of faffing about trying to sort the payment. having said that the waitress handled it well, was polite and got the appropriate assistance from her line manager. overall a good stay, i should think probably better for business clients. Location was fine for what we required. Hotel OK, breakfast OK, rooms OK so it was generally OK! Bar prices are ridiculous. £25 for a bottle of house white was over the top for the quality of the hotel and the wine - drink elsewhere.

extremely naturally friendly staff. Great car parking. Super choice of breakfast. Our room overlooked the lake which was pleasant in the mornings and avoided car noise. Very clean. Only had one dinner which was quality and value. Will stop again when visiting Cardiff. Only downside was a drive to any restaurants, pubs etc.

Nice hotel , good staff , only two major drawback ,,, one there was not double size mattres,,i found there was combination of two , which is very uncomfertable for couple . Other is hotel is very close to moterway, in the morning very disterbed from the noice of moters.

Had a problem with booking- not getting 2nd disabled room, but staff did all they could to resolve, and were very attentive and helpful. The pool is lovely, but again not accessible for disabled, all down 6 steep steps. But rooms had loads of faults, auto door locks on disabled rooms not working, lamps broken, net curtains missing, all décor looking […] tired and stained carpets etc. Breakfast food a good selection but hot food was all fried, and couldn't get anything grilled. The weather was poor. Outside terrace could do with a steam clean or similar, umbrellas over the tables would certainly help, otherwise very efficient & courteous staff. An enjoyable stay.
