"I went for the location and got my money's worth."
The staff was friendly and polite. The free breakfast was exceptionally disappointing, but I got more than I paid for, I suppose. The location was a bit hard to reach due to road construction, but once I was there, it was central and offered me access.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location for LDS conference goers"
Karina and Ryan were very helpful and friendly. I needed help on several occasions and they helped me out every time. Very accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It was great"
It was a great experience. It worked good for the trip I had planned. It has a great bed and pillows. It is old but very clean and nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel close to downtown SLC"
Since I just needed a room to stay for me was good, is a nice hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not for business trips"
I had to book this hotel for my convention as all nearby better hotels are filled quickly. I would use this hotel just to come in the night and lay down, but don't expect anything beyond that. It's a little worn down place. I honestly expected it to be a bit better from their pictures, which is why I was disappointed. They can do subtle changes to make […] the experience a little better, like having an air freshener in the common areas, and replacing those century old analog TVs etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Reasonable budget choice for Salt Lake City"
Acceptable budget option. Room was large with nice firm bed. Darkened nicely. Fairly quiet, very central.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient, Cheap, but not the greatest quality."
I chose this hotel because of its proximity to The Depot, ESA, and downtown. The price was right, the location was convenient, but the quality left something to be desired. I still recommend this hotel, but be prepared for a hotel that is just a step above motel 6.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cute little hotel"
My boyfriend and I went to SLC for the tattoo convention held at the Salt Palace. The HoJo Express was 2 blocks away from everything we could have wanted, a super easy walk. The room we got was non-smoking, so all the room doors were inside like a hotel. I assume of you were a smoking room, it was one of the doors that faced outside like a motel. The […] room (standard queen) was spacious and clean, though a tad outdated, and the shower could have been bigger. Overall very satisfied with our stay, especially for the price of $60 a night. "Cheap if that's what you want."
Front Desk clerk was not the friendliest and made you want to go elsewhere. Everything was an effort on his part. Walls were too thin and could hear the next door guest snoring, guests upstairs walking around and the room had a weird smell.Genuine Expedia guest review
When I arrived I received quick service . I found the room and hotel to be well kept and pleasing. hotel offered in room services and was located in a central location of attractions and sites. local tram was only a few blocks away as well as the stadium where u could enjoy NBA games by local team Utah jazzGenuine Expedia guest review
"Review for Howard Johnon,"
The room was clean and nice but that is as far has the good rating goes. The TV is old and hard to see. The pillows are only half the size of a regular pillow. The worse part is the heater. Every time the furnace came on it was so loud that I couldn't hear the TV so I would have to turn it up. Also every time it came on it would wake me up. This is […] with out a doubt the worse night sleep I have had at any motel or hotel. The clerk in the morning was to busy eating chips to even ask how my stay was. The money I saved wasn't worth it. I will never stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The only thing I didn't like was the old TV. I wish there was a fridge in the room. But very impressed with the place over all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was OK. But I stayed for three days and didn't get any new soap.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Next to Salt Palace and Energy Solutions Arena"
The hotel was old, and the outside looked it. Rooms were comfortable, and clean. TV was very old, and the satellite signal dropped a couple times while I was there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was adequate. Service was poor. Location is excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything downtown"
Clean rooms, nice for the price but heater fan noisy kept us awake and a lot of noise from the halls.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel close to Family History events"
Works well for our experiences at RootsTech. Fairly close to facilities and inexpensive.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cheap stay close to downtown"
When I say cheap, I mean cheap. The room didn't have a small fridge, microwave, or even a DVD player!! The wifi was free but terribly slow and the building/rooms were in need of some remodeling. We loved being able to walk to Temple Square, City Creek, Energy Solutions Arena, and even The Gateway...but this place needs some TLC.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Economy Motel Downtown Meets Expectations"
Perfect place to stay down town Salt Lake for the Price. I stayed at this hotel 12 years ago and I would say it has been improved and updated.Genuine Expedia guest review
Just what I needed, in the right location and at a price that is an excellent value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hojo should be a Super 8."
This facility needs to undergo a full renovation or be sold to a different hotel chain like super 8 or motel 6. Night crew was not helpful and did not know the city. Computer software is outdated and I could not print a word document with out it changing the formating. Had to go to another hotel to find information I needed about where I could print […] out the document I needed for the next morning. Would not recommend to anyone. "Our birthday get away"
Each year for 16 years my husband and I have traveled to Salt Lake City to celebrate our birthdays. We have always gone to a Utah Jazz game. It was a nice discovery to find the Howard Johnson motel that was a nice hotel, but was also close to the Energy Solutions Arena. We have stayed in this motel for several years now and will continue to do so.Genuine Expedia guest review
"inexpensive - right in downtown slc"
power went out in that part of the city during the night - hotel personnel came and brought extra blankets to make sure we were warm enough, until the power company could get it fixed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to downtown"
Real close to downtown, Gateway Center and Energy Solutions Center. Only down fall was no bathtub.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel within walking distance to downtown"
Great staff. Clean hotel. Continental breakfast could be better and not in lobby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for"
Like the title says. I stayed here one night and would not stay more than one night. Its old and rundown but it works. For the price and location its good. bathroom was tiny. TV was very old and the channels weren't even right on the listing they had. Soda and vending machine were way far from my room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Front Desk staff who went the extra mile"
Great location. Best value for service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good thing for security chains"
After checking in New Years eve I went up to my room and found out it was already occupied. Good thing the security chain was engaged or I would have walked right in. I went back to the front desk and they were confused on how that would happen and gave me another room.Genuine Expedia guest review
We needed to go out to get into our room in a freeze temperature.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. The continental breakfast was OK, not spectacular. The hallways seemed old and slightly dirty. The pool was outdoor so I couldn't use it in the winter. Although I didn't need to use it having a free airport shuttle is nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convienient to downtown"
Decent room. Clean.Great location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great value. Location is great, very close to Gateway Mall and City Creek Center.Genuine Expedia guest review
Cheap and clean!not bad for just stay one nightGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"close to our activities at Temple Square"
It was a great value. Breakfast was delicious (even though the microwave was a little inconvenient to access...in a different room around the stair case, etc). We did notice that the carpet on the stairs seemed to always be dirty (maybe from all the ice-melt/salt on the slick sidewalks?) The staff was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly appreciated […] the later check out time requested and the even later check out time that was actual. We do like refrigerators in rooms to keep our personal drinks cold. "My trip to Utah"
I have been to this Howard Johnson's Express Hotel before this trip, I knew about the shuttle to the airport and I used this shuttle again. They were very fast at calling a taxi for me. I wish my room would have had a microwave and a refrigerator. I got an accessible room this time, which I liked because I have arthritis. All in all a good experience. "No frills place near downtown"
No frills apartment in a fairly old building. It is in a very good location, just a few blocks from the center of SLC and near the basketball arena and downtown mall.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We asked for an extra blanket and the clerk yelled"
We needed an extra blanket the clerked yelled be patient also the room smelled like weed and was filthy do not stay here not worth your moneyGenuine Expedia guest review
"Better options out there."
Even though it was a pillowtop, bed was too hard. Tiny bathroom. Breakfast was subpar - the bagels were like hockey pucks. The heater did not turn on when it was supposed to. Ended up being a cold night on a hard bed. Plus, this is basically a motel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The hotel was in a good location"
The Marquee posted rates that were considerably lower than what we paid. There was a convention in town, and many hotels were full, so they were able to charge. The bed was not very comfortable, and it was a bit noisy at night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A slightly dated hotel which is close to Temple Sq"
This is the fourth time I have stayed at this hotel but the rooms are looking a bit shabby so probably won't stay there again but it is close to the Traxx train system and to two shopping Malls. They serve a good uncooked breakfast. As there had been a conference on, my room rate was much higher than usual.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Can walk to tabernacle."
H.j. Was very reasonably priced and we could walk to Temple Square. It was an older motel but clean. Breakfast was ok too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place to stay, close to the center of town"
Nice hotel to stay, close to the center of town and all destinations can be at a walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review

very comfortable but wished there was a tub and shower not just a shower.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
liked the breakfast and transportation to air port had difficultly understanding the operation of the key and one day of no Decafe but it was quickly correctedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location, Close to Downtown"
The location was perfect, 1 block from Energy Solutions Arena, 4-5 blocks from Temple Square and City Creek Shopping. The hotel wasn't the nicest we've stayed at, but it wasn't the worst either. If you want cheap that's close to downtown, then this is pretty good location.Genuine Expedia guest review
This motel is in a very convenient location. It is in walking distance of Temple Square, the Salt Palace Convention Center, the Energy Solutions Center, and two shopping areas. There are two restaurant nearby and many more within walking distance. The free shuttle to and from the airport was also a benefit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older but still a good choice"
Convenient location for our stay in Salt Lake. Reasonable rates, the airport shuttle was a major plus. It is an older facility but has been maintained well. Rooms were smallish but livable. Would consider staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
