If they give you a first floor room....walk out the door if you you don't want to here furniture being dragged over the floor from the breakfast room below at 6:30 AM. Can we say fingernails on a chalkboard? On the polar oposite the Mediterranean restaurant was really stellar!!

The hotel was close to the entrance of Petra which made it nice after a long day of hiking and being in the sun. It made it nice not only for the children but us, as well. By international standards, the hotel is still very good. Location was literally footsteps from the entrance into Petra. The main disappointing thing was that there wasn't much local food on offer... pretty much they offered average international food. Other than that... no real complaints.

This is the second time I stayed in this hotel and would strongly recommend it. My only complaint would be that they whould make the smoking rooms the interior rooms as there is a ton of smoke that drifts up from that area. We have to move it was bad.

Beautiful hotel and super convenient to Petra. Stay at this hotel and buy the 2 day pass to Petra (it's only 5 JD more than one day pass). There are restaurants at the hotel or you can walk to local restaurants which are just a few steps away from the hotel. We liked Mystic Pizza and the Oriental Restaurant.

Just returned from Movenpick Petra. I was pleased that when I arrived with my family at around 10:00 a.m. on January 5, 2013 from the 6:30 Jett bus from Amman, we were able to move into one of the three rooms I had reserved. This early check-in helped us a lot. We were able to drop our stuff and get ready to go to Petra. You can't beat the location […] of the Movenpick. Not only was it close to the Jett bus station, but it is a short walk to Petra. Every aspect of our stay was pleasant. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast buffet which was included in the room rate was excellent. It offered an amazing array of options to cater to many appetites and cultures. I had originally reserved only two rooms. When I called to reserve a third just a couple of days before our visit, I was pleased that the room rate given me was the same that I had received from Expedia. I highly recommend Movenpick Petra. We were thrilled to stay at the Movenpick instead of one of the many dingy hotels in the nearby town! The jr. suite was perfect for us and our two year old with enough space for him to play on the floor and a sofa bed for us to relax on after he went to sleep. Also, the room was very cold and we were told the heat had been turned off in the hotel. The breakfast buffet had many options and we were able to take snacks to eat while hiking around Petra. The hotel is located right across the street from the entrance to Petra and can't be beat! We asked for a driver to take us to the Dead Sea upon check out. The concierge said he would send the hotel's "personal driver". Although the man who showed up was nice and a good driver, we were expecting a more comfortable ride than a beat up old Hyundai. If you are looking for a less expensive dinner near by, check out the "Red Cave" about a block up the street. You can have a huge delicious Jordanian meal for about 25 Dinars. Read more

The soaps and shampoos were from a Dead Sea beauty supplier, which was fabulous. The room was very clean and comfortable, as well as quiet. I booked a room through hotels.com for 1 but had another guest stay with me. 1 or 2 adults for a room is normally the same price. Unfortunately here they insisted on $100 additional which did not appear on my bill but I did receive a hand written receipt. Local policy???? Sounds like....... Would never stay there again.

We had many problems at this hotel: The TV did not work. We reported twice, and the problem was not solved. We suggested to change the battery of the remote control, it was not done. We booked for a king size bed, but got two twin beds. We complained and the front staff said they would join the 2 beds. Priced too high and outrageous taxes / service charges. Waited twice in lobby & at bar for service. Buffet had mostly Chinese food ( to accommodate a group). Groups mob the lobby. Service in general is good but 5* means never having to say you 're sorry....and it also means no mold in the shower.
