The bathroom was the worst part about the entire stay at this hotel. The tiles on the floor were loose and coming apart. All of the grout was either broken out or gone between several of the tiles. We were visiting family in Leavenworth and this was one of the closest hotels we could find. The price was slightly higher than some of the hotels closer to the airport, but it was worth it to be closer to our family. The free breakfast was more than we expected - very good. The breakfast had pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage/biscuits, fruit, cereal, yogurt […] and the normal continental breakfast fare. It had a small indoor pool, but did not seem heated - so the kids hung out in the hottub with mom/dad. Luckily no one else was using pool/hottub or my kids would have got out. Rooms were normal hotel sized with a small refridgerator and microwave in each room. This hotel is within walking distance to a Pizza Hut and a Dairy Queen. Read more

The hotel was great. The staff was courteous. We were in town to drop our son off at college. The hotel was located within 5 minutes to the University. The staff on duty gave us directions to places in the area and gave us a brief overview of local attractions. We used the exercise room. It was good. 2 ellipticals and a treadmill.

It is nice little hotel. The rooms were clean. BUT I was told I had two non smoking rooms and my confirmation said they were nonsmoking. One was not and I am allergic to smoke so was not happy about that. They sprayed it once and our kids slept in the room and we took the nonsmoking room. But even with the spray by the time we came back later in room […] the smell was there. Know KC was swamped with events that weekend but when told nonsmoking rooms that is what they should be. I would never go back here. No desk, office chair or other chair in the room. Toilet paper floating in the toilet upon arrival in the room. After driving 12 hours to get here, we were 1.5 hours earlier than their check-in time. the front desk and manager on that Friday absolutely would not give us a room that was ready, so we had to sleep in the car. […] When we told the Front Desk about the absent desk and chairs, we were told they would bring in a desk right away. They never showed up. Upon departure, we were told they probably didn't have one, which is why our room only had a bed and dresser in it. We had to sit in bed to use our laptop or just to watch TV. The front desk employee was very rude and made no effort to allow a guest to check in prior to 3:00 p.m. I do not believe that out of 67 room none of them were clean by 1:00 to allow a guest who traveled 857 miles to your hotel to enter a room a couple hours early. The desk staff informed us upon checkin that the toilet in our room had maintenance problems earlier in the day and that he personally remade the beds (?) instead of the maid staff so it might "look a little off". Odd procedure and comments and the room did look "off". Normal service and looks... Nothing remarkable either way.

This is a nice Holiday Inn Express for the money. Our only complaint was that the bed was very hard and not comfortable and the air conditioning unit was loud. Overall though we were pleased. The breakfast was very adequate. It is very close to Ft. Leavenworth and a much better value than staying on post.

When many closer hotels were booked, due to a football game in Lawrence, we stayed in Lansing. Good choice. Easy access to KC, Lawrence and Bonner Spring (festival). No surprises and found the value I've come to expect of Holiday Inn Express. Ample Breakfast in the morning. Walls were a little thin (phone conversations next door) but slept comfortable […] with no distraction. One of the very best hotels in the area around the regional VA Hospital, the federal Penitentiary, and the US Army Command and Staff School at Leavenworth, Ka. Hotel is within 20 min of any of the aforesaid facilities. Close by are all sorts of places to eat or dine. Includes McDonalds to Mama Mia. Air conditioners were window units loud and clunky. […] Internet connection was excellent. Food at complementary breakfast was full of sugar and carbs - need a nutritionist to review offerings. Security at front desk was sub par. Asked front desk for an additional keycard and they asked for no identification or name - just asked for room number then quickly provided a duplicate key. Everything was what I expected of a holiday inn except wasn't notified of the pool closing for "routine maintenance", if it is routine I would expect a company the size of Holiday Inn to make other arrangements or at the very least notify families booking during the maintenance period.
