I thought that this was a good hotel for the price that you paid, but didnt really like the location around it. Seemed like it was in a bad area. But the hotel is nice and clean and comfortable and the breakfast is really really good.

We were quite concerned as we drove to the hotel. It's not in the best part of town, but the room was large, clean, and well maintained. It's very close to the freeway. but we never heard any noise. Overall it was a good room and a reasonable price.

Our stay was great. We stayed overnight for a pit stop from Seaworld to Wild Animal Park. The staff was quick to check us in and out. Hotels.com rate was excellent. I found out that we saved about $20 'cause we booked it online. The room was very nice. We had 2 queen beds so we put our stuffz in the other bed and shared a very comfortable second bed. The complimentary breakfast was fantastic with all of its selection. More savings 'cause we didn't have to eat at an outside restaurant anymore. Definitely coming back to this hotel for future trips to San Diego.

The room was nice and clean and it is very close to all of the attractions. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, places to eat, etc. We did have to practically beg for towels. They never left enough and we always had to go to the front desk to get more. I would reccomend for the money but we will most likely stay elsewhere next time.

The rooms were very clean, but for being the closest hotel to sea world it was not very convenient. since we still had to drive to sea world we should've stayed at another hotel. The biggest problem for me was that there was neven any hot water when wanting to shower.

Was dissappointed on the location and neighborhood. The rooms looked alot bigger online. Very cramped even with two small children. Can hear through the walls and the breakfast was just okay. Not alot of room to eat at the buffet so we had to eat in our room each day. Was not worth the price charged, wish we would have spent a little more and stayed at a hotel with a suite.

We stayed at this hotel after an exhausting day at SeaWorld. The room and hotel were very clean, the staff OK and the pool area nice. A great place for recovering after sightseeing. Not sure about the local area though, the only people I saw walking around looked homeless.

Good hotel. Very close to SeaWorld. Very friendly staff. Nice continental breakfast. Pool/hot tub was nice but small. I was a little worried about the security at the pool due to strangers walking around. TV was in poor condition and had limited channels. Room view was poor and showed the run down homes and thrift stores. However, for the price and cleanliness I would stay there again - but would ask to stay opposite of the freeway. Thank you.

This hotel was clean, comfortable, and close to Sea World. The breakfast in the morning was really nice with a lot of selection and good coffee. The surrounding area was not as nice as I had hoped.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. IT IS IN HTE WORST PART OF TOWN AND NOT SAFE.

I believe that the employees need to work on "customer relations". One evening with two small children in tow, I had trouble getting into the hotel from the garage,(the room key is needed and wouldn't work). After walking around to the lobby instead of going the direct route through the door, the desk clerk took the key, went and tried it and came back telling me there was NO problem with the system. I had tried several times and since I travel quite a bit, I am not unused to this type of thing. NO apology was offered and his attitude was it was my fault! Then the next morning at breakfast, I witnessed someone telling the person in charge of the area there were no plates. The person in charge just proceeded to empty trash instead of getting more plates. Really, how do you eat breakfast with NO plates. I just believe that the people working there might need some lessons in dealing with people and perhaps an attitude adjustment! The hotel was mediocre at best. The rooms are ok but the baths could be a tad cleaner.

We stayed in two different rooms. Our 1st was a view of a nasty ship storage yard. The 2nd was full view, almost touching distance to the hotel garbage containers. This was frequented by local homeless and vagrants all day into the evening until it was locked up. Our request for moving to rooms with a better view fell on deaf ears. You can't walk to Seaworld from here, although it is the closest hotel to Seaworld, so why stay at the closest to Seaworld? You have to drive anyway, and the Hotel does NOT provide a shuttle. Farther ones may! The breakfast area is full of 3x more people in the am, than it can hold. The pool is icecold, unheated, and accessed only via the dark dank car garage. Yuck. Friendly, but unresponsive, staff. Clean rooms in a nasty area. Falls far below what Holiday Inn Express usually offers, and way below what I expected. Was not cheap for this environment.

This hotel was Great! I would def. recommend to others. 5 min. from beach, 5 min from Sea World and about 10 min from Zoo! Close to Target, Ralphs, and restaurants. Great breakfast choices with contnental breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff Nowhere near a strip bar, lol. There is a restaurant named Ember's Grilles across the street so maybe a confusion?? I would recommend to anyone and will continue to stay there when I go to San Diego.

Overall I would say the rooms were very spacious and clean. The free breakfast was also a good value. You have the option of taking it up to your room as well so that was nice. On the other hand, we got a room right across from the vending station and there was no vending on the other floor so there was more traffic than usual in this area. Also our room was on the side closest to the road so we heard way too much traffic all day all night. I would suggest when you check in you request a room on the inside of the floor not the outside so that you are not distracted. If you are a light sleeper it would definitely be a problem.

Upon arriving on 5/19/09 we checked in early only to find that there was painting going on down the hall. The paint odor was very strong and smelt like glue. this lasted until Friday 5/22/09. The hotel was full for the weekend so I guess they stopped the renovation due to this. Since we checked out Memorial day we don't know if the proceeded to start up the renovations after the holiday. I would call the hotel and find out first if there are any renovations going on. On the bright side the breakfast was a good bargain and the hotel is centrally located for Seaworld and the zoo.

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend and the hotel and location were fine. Considering everything else was booked and the rate was reasonable for a holiday weekend, we were content with our choice. Pros: Close to freeway, Seaworld, Mission Beach and other attractions. Plenty or restaurants nearby. Breakfast was pretty good - they had eggs and bacon, plus other quick items. Rooms were large enough and in decent shape. Cons: Too close to freeway, but not easy access to hotel from freeway and it can get a little noisey. Parking is really tight. Location seems partially industrial. We weren't disappointed with this hotel, but we weren't thrilled either. We would look elsewhere first, but would stay here again if options were limited.

Loved the hotel, the service was outstanding and the staff was extremely friendly. They took care of every need, even made sure we got cab rides when we went out on the town at night. I would definitely stay here again. It is only 5 minutes from the beach. The surrounding area is not all that nice, but the rooms are inside so that helps. The covered free parking is awesome! The rooms were spacey. Very worth the money.

this hotel was great. the room was huge! nice couch very clean. they brought us anything we needed, extra towels, bottled water. the only down side was that they were very under-staffed and elevator had a few problems. the breakfast was good, healthy choices available as well as sweets! over all great stay.

Great value for the money. Very good free breakfast included. Elevator was 2 doors down and was a little noisy. Just more of a humming noise when operating. Ask for a room a distance from the one elevator.

Not a great place! Very disappointed and would not go there again. Way to expensive for the poor location. Right next to strip clubs. BAD DEAL.

Hotel was extremely clean, Friendly personnel, and very quiet. It was better than we expected. We will use this hotel again when we stay in the San Diego area.

Great location, 3 minutes from Sea World. Clean spacious room with a fold out couch so my 2 sons did not have to share a bed. Great full breakfast buffet.

The clerks were so helpful and friendly. The room wa sspacious, clean and very nice, the beds were comfortable. Lots of pillows both firm and soft! You could hear air planes but not after 10:30pm. Close to Sea World and the Zoo and Balboa Park with lots of great museums...the clerks gave us maps and directions for eveywhere! And told us the best places to eat! The continental breakfast was decent: sausage or bacon, omlettes or eggs, yogurt, English muffins, bagels, muffins, toast, really yummy cinnamon rolls, cereal, juice, coffee, hot cocoa, milk, tea - tea was available in the evenings as well. Several teas to choose from. PC with internet access available for guests 24 hours a day in the lobby. We were very satisfied.
