The Grace Hotel - Sydney

I could not have found a better hotel in terms of location and quality of service. There are plenty of upscale shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions nearby. Hotel staff very friendly and courteous. Next time I visit Sydney I will, without trepidation, book a room at The Grace.

I stayed at the Grace for a week, Monday through Saturday. I found the entire hotel to be very nice. Housekeeping did a nice job every day. I only interacted with the front desk to check in and out, and they were very nice those two times. This hotel is in the business district. Its close enough to all the major attractions to walk. You are a 10/15 minute walk from the Rocks, harbour, and the ferries. The hotel rooms were a good size, clean. The staff was nice and checked us in early. Grace hotel is located in the center of all main attractions of Sydney. Ten minutes from Hyde Park, Darling Harbour, and circular quay. Only four blocks from the Wynyard train station making travel around the city even quicker if you prefer.

Charming old hotel, recently renovated. They don't build them like this anymore. Staff very friendly & attentive. Very nice rooms although they don't have free Wi-Fi. Great location. Easy walking distance to Circular Quay, the bridge, Darling Harbour, etc. savings if you book online.

Situated in a 5-star location and offering amenities that are quite acceptable without being lavish, the Grace Hotel was sadly let down by the lamentable performance of its staff [with the exception of the housekeeping team]. The hotel appeared to be generally understaffed, with internal calls to the ‘guest relations’ line frequently unanswered and […] ultimately passing to voicemail. After arriving at the hotel around 1 PM on December 16th and waiting in line for 20 minutes, I enquired as to whether there was a possibility of early check, in keeping with our reservation request. Ultimately we were made to wait until after the ‘guaranteed’ 3 PM check in time, notwithstanding the corresponding requirement for guests to check out by Noon. This is for the most part understandable given the busy holiday period, but what is not acceptable is to then be told that our room was being upgraded, only to discover that this was not the case. There was little if any evidence of effective supervision/leadership being provided for the staff, many of whom lacked even a basic appreciation of what customer service is all about. Perhaps the most pointed example of staff indifference came on the morning of our departure, when the individual standing at the ‘Concierge’ desk stood idly by, content to occupy himself with surfing the net, whilst my wife and I struggled to convey several large pieces of luggage to our waiting taxi. All in all a disappointing experience that I would not choose to repeat. Read more

I stayed at the Grace hotel for 3 nights in June and had an excellent experience. The concierge were beyond helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the heart of Sydney. The hotel is technically a historic structure that has been renovated (the rooms are very modern) which gives it a little extra […] personality. Location - the hotel is in an excellent location. We could walk to the ferry terminal as well as the aquarium, many restaurants and chinatown with no problem. If you need to go further, there is a taxi stand located directly out the front door of the hotel. The hotel also had a nice irish pub and excellent cafe attached to the lobby. Service - We arrived at 8 am with a reservation for that night. They had both rooms ready for us and let us check in early! After that many hours of traveling, it was a wonderful surprise. During our stay, the hotel allowed us to borrow everything from an umbrella to a wheelchair at no cost. They made many dinner reservations for us, recommended activities, and provided us with directions all over the city. Rooms - The rooms were very large and had very comfortable beds. This place is a bit dated. Rooms are small and decently maintained, but it's not a place I'd call comfortable or trendy. Check-in was fine; location was good, but the 4 star rating was a bit misleading and overrated. 3 stars at best. Walking distance to the Opera House - and only two blocks to the train station to the airport.

close to everything - at most its a 30min walk to all the best clubs/bars you need a deposit on top of cost which you get back after your stay + they take a copy of your drivers license. Its not a 4 or 5 star hotel ! but location and cost make it good & worthwhile in that sense.

A lovely hotel in the heart of Sydney's CBD. Rather old-fashioned but comfortable and spacious rooms in art deco style. The staff are exceptional - professional and helpful. The Grace is very conveniently situated being around an easy 8 minutes walk from Wynyard or Town Hall stations (airport line), about 15 minutes walk from Circular Quay ferry terminal […] and The Rocks. Sydney Opera House is about 20 minutes walk. I did not try the restaurant but enjoyed snacks in Bar 77. I would certainly stay at The Grace again and happily recommend it. PLUS - A medical emergency was dealt with very efficiently and staff enquired afterwards. MINUS - Mattresses both sloped from one side to the other, so nights were spent retrieving bedding which slid away.

Fantastic place to relax and unwind. If you are going to spend the money then I recommend staying here. Great hotel with great staff. Rooms have been renovated and decors are different throughout. Grace hotel is a good place to stay when visiting Sydney but I seriously object to paying for wifi service. We need access for e mails and travel planning as a basic service which should be included without extra charge. I will seek out hotels with free wifi in future.

Great location & hotel rooms. Overall hotel services are not in abundance and receotion is not open 24 hours. Booking via a third party such as hotels.com to pre-pay is not much use as the hotel hold $100 per night for incidentals, so for my stay, they held $700 on my card defeating the purpose of pre-paying.

We had a great one night stay at The Grace. It's a perfect location for walking to anything, which was great for me as I had an injured foot. The free CBD shuttle is one block away which also helped me get around. The building itself is very nice, clean, and well appointed. The front desk staff and concierge were very nice and helpful. Although it was a strong, reliable signal that you could pick up anywhere in the building, the price is definitely gauging.
