Close to the beach, but not to beach access. We had to walk quite a way to find a crossing or otherwise Jay-walk. While every room does have a balcony, not every room has a view; 1st and 2nd floor are treated to a view of brick siding or the rooftop of the bar. Same price as "rooms with a view"??? We requested connecting rooms with one being for my elderly disabled mother. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. I just had 2 very small problems. The bathroom equiped for the disabled had the 2 queen beds so there wasn't very much maneuvering room for the walker. The other room was not handicap equipped in the bathroom but had a king-size […] bed and plenty of maneuvering room for the walker. It would have been perfect if the handicap room had the handicap bathroom and room to maneuver the walker. The other problem was one of the elevators was not working during the visit The other elevator was working fine but at times busy. The housekeeping was exemplary. Unlike other hotes, this hotel furnished plenty of towels and washcloths for our stay everyday. I would recommend this hotel highly for the elderly and handicap guests. Read more

It says its a resort so the only complaint I have is lack of hot tub that's just personal though and I can't really give a bad review for that... Great service, very friendly, neat arcade room and decent swimming pool... Not worth more than $100 a night though

The hotel was nice and easy to find. We had a hard time finding a parking spot late at night, seems like parking is limited. The room was nice and comfortable but we couldn't get the AC fan to stay on, it turned on and off constantly the whole time. Also it seems like the hotel is very thin or something because it was very noisy being right there on […] the seawall. That has to be my biggest complaint is that you could hear every time a car drove by the hotel. We were on the 7th floor and during the day we could hear the karaoke music from the pool and it was loud enough that we couldn't take a nap. There were 3 sets of elevators and only 1 worked. I am highly persnickity about cleanliness and wanted good location/access. First room offered was not nice so I asked for another and was it was immediately given. Turns out all the room carpets probably look bad so that's a minus. Also my comforter had a stain on it so I just pushed it on the floor, which made me a little chilly 2nd night but oh well. […] Couple long hairs in the bathroom found but overall room was generally clean. Plus I always bring Lysol! Nice staff, no 'attitudes.' I will definitely be back due to location, pricing and overall quality. Nice location on the beach. All rooms have beach view (at least floors 3 and above). Staff very friendly. Kroger is at walking distance and Wallmart is a short drive away. The only thing which annoyed me was lack of sound-proofing of windows/door; seagulls chirping at night and strong wind blows disturbed me at night.

The room we were given had a terrible view of the ocean(we were looking at air conditioning units and a roof top). Would of liked a room that was higher. Room felt old, cracked sink, old shower tub with black marks on the bottom. Staff was nice.

The hotel was nice. Rooms really seemed to be outdated. My friends and I (total of 4 girls) stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The room was really clean. The last night was really windy and the wind made a horrible whistling noise ALL NIGHT LONG! None of us got sleep! Seagulls kept us up the other night as well. But that wasn't the hotel's fault. Our honeymoon and at first it did not start off well as the room we had looked out at the air conditioning vents on top of the building, could not see water and I thought really on my honeymoon, I DON"T THINK SO!!! After pleasant day of beachcombing and sightseeing, went to B'Jiggers Lounge for drinks only to find uncomfortably hot temperature in facility. Desk staff again seemed indifferent to concerns, even though other patrons also found conditions too unpleasant to remain. Hotel room was very nice. Had if nice bar in it that had live bands on Friday and Saturday night, which is nice so you dont have to take taxi to go drinking. The only complaints I had was that the shower head was not high enough unless you are under 5'4", there is no vent in the restroom, which seems to be the norm in newer hotels, and it took the water […] for ever to warm up. The hotel has an awesome location if you want to be directly on the seawall; however, 1 of the 2 hotel elevators was broken and we had to wait 20 minutes to get on. We had a stroller. An overall great stay at the Holiday Inn Galveston on the beach. Perfect location that is right on the beach and IMO the best section of the strip. Our travel agent recommended this hotel based on location, our family size and the shuttle service to our Disney cruise. We arrived and were told they only had a smoking room left (even though we requested non-smoking). It was very loud and people kept knocking out our door until 3am. Only 1 elevator was working. Hotel staff did offer us free breakfast, […] but sleeping in a smoking room with 3 small kids and my allergies was not acceptable. I would not recommend this hotel unless you like noise, smoke and unkept hotel decor. Also our shuttle bus never showed up for the cruise, so we had to wait an extra 35 min. for a bus. Read more

The only reason I gave overall a 4 is because I signed a bar tab (on my ATM card) for a certain amount, then I noticed it was $9.00 + more taken from my on-line bank account. I called and complained and it was corrected to the correct amount but with no phone call explanation. I think the bartender tried to get over on me but I caught them. Was told at check-in that our room would accomodate a blow-up mattress (in place of a rollaway) for our grandson, that it would be brought to our room. After a length of time, I picked up the phone to call about it because it had not arrived. There wasn't any dial tone on the phone, so had to use my cell phone to call the front desk. Was told that an […] engineer would be sent to check on the phone, and that they don't send the blow up mattresses to the room until they are requested because they take up too much room. So, said ok, I would call later for the mattress. The engineer got the phone working, but did not come very quickly. The bed was delivered without my second call, which was odd when we agreed that I would call for it. When we got there, the room was stuffy & hot, it took quite awhile to cool off. The front desk staff was friendly. Pool was closed, but it wasn't a heated pool anyway. Were told we could use the heated pool at the San Luis Hotel next door. All in all, may stay here again if/when we go to Galveston again. Read more
