Overall great stay. There were four us on a girls weekend trip. The room was very big and lots of room for all overpacked backed bags for one night ;) the double beds were very comfy and didn't seem as small as they were. I got upgraded to a beautiful room overlooking the Santa Monica Pier. It was so beautiful and spacious. The 2 guys that checked me in and the valet/bellmen were so over-the-top amazing. I had experienced quite a year with 1/3 of it spent in Marriotts due to our house flooding. They tried to make my getaway night very special and stress free. A dreary hotel - well past its prime. Everything seemed to be done to cut costs and increase profit -- to a remarkably excessive degree. Even the toilet paper was very thin single-ply...never saw that in a $300 per night room. Bathroom/shower very old-fashioned, tiny and meager. On arrival the adjacent room was being totally renovated -- had no floor, […] etc. The work - hammering, banging, etc. - was quite noisy. We phoned the front desk and said they must move us to another room. They said the work would end very shortly and not resume over the weekend. Wrong. The next afternoon when we wished to rest the hammering/tearing was extremely loud and continuous. So much for our rest. "My Pillows needed to be changed"
I received a great discount on the rate for this Hotel, with hotels.com. I was pleased with that. It was a small enough Hotel to be Homey in Nature. I needed to have the Pillows completely changed. They stunk. I had to go one night with that awful smell. They did give me new pillows however. They should smell the pillows and the cover under the pillow […] cases. Awful. Positive: Nice venue, upscale, very nice people Negative: Forced valet at $38 per day. Wifi is not free. Staff is incompetent. My Experience: My room did not have a bath tub. Instead it had a handicapped shower. I also registered as an individual yet it had 2 beds. I requested another room. The employee seemed confused and asked me, "It doesn't have […] a bath tub?" When I told her it had a handicapped shower instead, she apologized and said she would get me a new room. I was on hold for nearly 15 minutes while she searched for a new room. She finally instructs me to go to room 221 and a bell hop would be meet there with new keys. I go to room 221, and wait there and after ten minutes and no one shows up. So I go downstairs to the front desk and the employee says, "I'm so sorry for the delay, I'm just trying to get you set up with a different room." I said,"I was told to go to room 221 and that a bell hop would meet me there but no one showed up." He says, "I know, Leo was supposed to go, but I had big plans for a really accomodating room for you, but it's not working out." So he gave me a new room and offered to have the bell hop escort me there. I said, “I don't need the bell hop anymore since I'm down here getting the new keys myself." So I get to my 3rd room now, it's 11:30 at night and I'm in bed and A MAN COMES INTO MY ROOM!!! The hotel double booked my room and gave keys to my room to some guy!!! i frequent j.w marriot hotels often. this was by far the worst jw i have ever stayed at. when i booked the trip i assumed i would be staying at a very nice hotel knowing it was a jw.... For $250 I enjoyed a view of the building right across the street. They could see straight into my room. Was craving a diet pepsi from the mini-bar, but when I opened it everything was warm inside.
