"Well located, but could use new carpet."
The location of this hotel is great. It is in the heart of the city. There are lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. However, the rooms (at least the two we saw) could use a face lift. The carpet, in particular is old and dirty. Our first room was a smokey-smelling, non-smoking room. The carpet is old enough to show the dirt and wear tracks of the […] previous guests. "Cambridge at its best"
We were looking for a hotel in the middle of Cambridge where we could park the car and walk about the city and the Crowne Plaza was it. It's location could not be better for walking to all the colleges and the local restaurants. There was an 18 GBP charge for parking over night but seeing as it cost 8 GBP for 3 hours in the local car park, the hotel […] parking was worth it. Remember to sign up for Piority Rewards and you also get Free Wi-fi in the bar. We ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant which was a typical hot buffet but at a reasonable price, if pre purchased when you check in.. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A REAL FIND!"
WE BOOKED THIS VERY LAST MINUTE, KNOWING NOTHING ABOUT THE HOTEL OR ITS LOCATION IN CAMBRIDGE. IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN BETTER. RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THINGS, AND A VERY COMFORTABLE HOTEL WITH VERY FRIENDLY, HELPFUL STAFF.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cambridge city hotel - could be better"
Hotel is good quality in terms of room, comfort and cleanliness. However, it lacks character. Breakfast quality was not good: hard croissants; bread quality poor; generally low standard for this price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent hotel in an excellent location. Very accommodating staff, who arranged an early check in, and with the late check out time of mid day gave us an unrushed feel. Valet parking excellent too, although this did add another £18 to the bill. Lovely breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean Comfortable Quiet & Convenient"
Great city centre location and parking service is a real boon. Hotel is a little soul-less in a city with so much history; that said it was clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient. Staff were friendly and helpfulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I got a room next to a bar where there was a party going on. The noise wasn't too loud or unbearable, but somewhat noticeable. I could have requested a change of room, but as I sleep with headphones on and was staying one night only, it didn't bother me so much.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great city centre location"
Everyone was very welcoming and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very good. Clean, centrally located. Above average amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We needed a quiet room (university interview), and insisted on that at the reception. We were given a room which was fine until the early hours when we could hear very clearly a man coughing loudly. Not sure where. It was nerve wracking. Nothing to be done because we were only staying one night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Check if it's an interconnecting room"
Only criticism was that we were given an interconnecting room which had insufficient sound proofing - we could hear everything they were saying in adjoining roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Only had one night here. Hotel is located reasonably centrally, easy to access on foot & taxi. I didn't eat here, or use the bar, but it looked nice enough. It did take 30 mins to check in, not sure why. The room was typical corporate fayre. It could have been anywhere in the world. That said, it was comfortable, well equipped and quiet. Check out […] was easy. So overall, corporate style hotel, well executed, if a little souless. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A great location. The staff were trying their best but room service got muddled up and I was left waiting at the bar for a while. Overall a safe and clean environment and I would definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable, trouble-free stay."
Stay was very comfortable. Appreciated the bottled water in rooms. Had there been a heated towel rail, would not have needed fresh towels every day, but these were supplied, soft and large and brilliantly white. Good to be so close to John Lewis ( woman's point of view). Very central location. Staff extremely courteous and helpful. Would have liked […] to have been able to open windows a little, but do understand safety restrictions. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, room needs updating"
Location was great. Easy walk to pubs. Room was not one of the updated ones. The carpet was worn and old.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great 'all rounder'"
Friendly and attentive staff; refurbished rooms were excellent; breakfast was superb!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not to my taste. I like to be able open a window,"
I don't like my environment to be so controlled. The window couldn't be opened which i find oppressive. The view was just flat roofing and airvents. Dull but worthy. Holiday Inn aesthetic. Limited TV and limited supply of milk for hot drinks.Genuine Expedia guest review
Brusk and unhelpful staff who struggled with the English language. Called reception about time for drop-off of laundry. Was told 9:30am. Tried at 9:05am and was then advised that laundry actually went out at 8am.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, great service, nice room"
Had no problems here.Cambridge City Hotel because it was easy to walk to the colleges, market, shops and restaurant, and it proved to be a perfect location. "Well situated for Cambridge city break."
Enjoyed using the hotel for a base as we visited the sites of Cambridge. Excellent breakfast with polite and helpful staff. Room cleaniness up to a high standard. Only drawback was renovations being under taken at hotel during our stay which included drilling, which could be heard near our room as we returned to get ready for dinner both days. This […] occured on a Sunday after being assured by front desk staff that work would not be carried out that day. Apart from this we enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning again. "Ideal central location"
A good value hotel in the centre of Cambridge, comfy beds. The only disappointment was not having a window that opened, infact many rooms just look into the hotel atrium or light-well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"excellent location and service"
Excellent breakfast food was plentiful, room was clean and tea, coffee, water, biscuits etc replenished daily. Friendly, helpful staff and nothing to much trouble. Central location, even the tour bus stops directly outside. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Exceeded my Expectations"
This hotel got very mixed reviews, with a lot of guests saying that it was not as good as they'd hoped. When we got there we didn't have particularly high hopes and selected it as the "best of a bad bunch" of hotels in Cambridge. We were extremely satisfied with the hotel, and all of our party (on multiple floors) said the rooms were great. I would […] definitely use this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Really great stay in a very nice central hotel. Valet parking a little pricey but seemed all nearby parking was as expensive. Otherwise, a great place to stay, we had a large and very clean room . Shall stay here next time in Cambridge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great city hotel- but get a refurb room"
We stayed here August 2014 in a large room with two queen-sized beds. It was one of only a few hotels that could properly sleep 4 adults (no camp-beds needed etc.). The room was on the 4th floor, and had been recently refurbished to a very high standard. We were told that at the time of our stay the 4th floor, and half the 3rd-floor had been refurbished, […] floors 1 and 2 had not (so make a request). The hotel is in he heart of Cambridge and an easy 10 minutes walk from the main centre/market square and right next to John Lewis and a large indoor shopping complex. The hotel offers valet overnight parking for £18.. this seems expensive but parking anywhere in Cambridge is difficult and much more expensive than this. They keep the car until 2pm, but you can extend it until 5pm for £5 extra... it is REALLY WORTHWHILE - so easy! Breakfast is a full buffet, plentiful and good quality with chefs to cook eggs/pancakes/omelettes. WiFi is free for 3 devices. Staff are friendly. Overall great for leisure or business. The hotel is very near he University Downing Street (science) site, and Emmanuel College if you are visiting for that reason. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff can be rude/abrupt but it's a reasonable hotel. Renovated rooms are good but no fridge. Old rooms are tired - I stayed in both. Room service menu is very limited compared to dining room, with hardly anything available 24hrs which is very poor for travellers - overall it's ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great, nicely renovated hotel close to everything"
All aspects of hotel were pleasing to excellent and majority excellent. nice spacious rooms. good air conditioning in rooms. Friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed in room 203 on 19 July - at check in I was told i'd been upgraded but was soon disappointed. When I entered the room the first thing that hit you was the terrible smell of stale smoke (clearly a former smoking room), the upgrade clearly only referred to the size of the room. This room is in desperate need of refurb it must be at least 20 years […] old. No sheets on the bed except for the bottom one, only covers is a brown fleece blanket which just felt old and dirty and didn't want to use it but no other option - late back after a 40th birthday party. There was a private event in the function room which was clearly audible in our room until gone Midnight. The next morning we checked out to be told we had a £26 bar bill - we hadn't used the bar! To the credit of the desk staff she could see immediately it had been charged to the wrong room. The only thing that salvaged the experience was the breakfast which was fantastic as was the very welcoming waiting staff. This hotel is barely 3 star in terms of accommodation and definitely not worth the £185 per night price tag. Very disappointed - I live in london and Cambridge is my hometown and was looking forward to staying here with my partner declaring the hotel the best in Cambridge - I feel rather foolish now........ Near City area, good service hotel, clean and comfort room, easy transportation from train station by bus,can walk to explore city and University, great breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very enjoyable. We booked a room for three ( mum and two daughters on getaway weekend) and would have preferred a room with three single beds rather than the two doubles we were given. However we were willingly provided with an extra single good quality camp bed and all problems were solved. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice and the […] hot food was fresh and regularly replenished. At the end of our stay when we had lots of small items of luggage and shopping we had the help of the manager in taking our belongings to the secure parking area and were given good advice on the best way out of the area. My daughter, who was flying from Stanstead, was able to organise and print out her boarding pass at reception. I would be more than happy to return to this hotel for another relaxing weekend break. "University Open Days"
Pleasantly surpised. Staff was very helpful and room freshly refurbished and cleanGenuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was was so dissapointing on so many levels except for location. They are in fact renovating the rooms... and I know this as they initially stuck me in a room directly beneath this noisey renovation. After I complained they moved me... a man came to the room and said "here is your new key" I asked what about my luggage that I had just generously […] tipped the porter to deliver, the man just looked at me shrugged. Housekeeping was hopeless as we were 3 in a room which was daily laid out for only 2 (the extra towels, pillow and tea cup were overlooked consistently despite requests). When a pillow was requested for the second time, it was finally brought without a pillow case on it and we had to wait another half hour for that. At breakfast, when gluten free bread or crackers was requeated a GF hamburger bun was brought out; the follow day we were told there was no GF bread, crackers or hamburger bun. Despite having the best location in town and some very friendly porters, this place has a sad restaurant and is in desperate need of the ongoing renovations to rooms and baths as well as better management. "Nice hotel right in the city."
Nice hotel in the centre of Cambridge. All the interesting places were nearby. Very friendly staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Much better than in the past"
This hotel is much improved since I last stayed there in 2006 when it was part of a different chain. It still is what it is: basically a Holiday Inn with a mock Georgian frontage and an Irish theme pub on the ground floor. But they have smartened up their act and if the price remained right I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
