"Would Stay Again"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
I was pleasantly surprised. I thought if I'm paying for a cheap room, it would look 'cheap' as well. Absolutely the opposite. My flight arrived a few hours before check in and they were able to find a room for me. The room was great. Clean and roomy. Pillows were way too soft for me, but overall I would definitely stay there again. Easy access to highway, and lots of places to pick up a quick bite to eat. No complaints about this place.

"Close to Rochester but outside the city"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
My daughter and I had a nice stay and we got a wonderful recommendation for a nearby restaurant. The Hampton Inn always has consistent, prompt service and I always feel welcome.
"Very Satisfied"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Good value. Smaller room but very adequate for 2 people. All we could expect for the lower cost of the room.
"Best in BPT"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
Very convenient. Clean spacious rooms. I thank them for sending me the belt I left in the room.

"Just Ask"
Booked on Hotels.com and when I checked in I asked for a room with a view, and got one. Looking out over the river.
"Sadly, this hotel has gone way downhill"
I was 'greeted' by a sole expressionless automaton who rudely refused to take my cash deposit instead of a credit card: only when I asked directly did he admit this was a new policy. When I handed him my credit card, he snorted softly in derision: why? I have no idea, he was beginning to remind me of Norman Bates and I was afraid to ask. The hotel is […] shabby with dusty walls, cheap furniture, peeling wallpaper crumbling plaster and a truly scary mold visible inside the vents over the shower: i must say though that it seemed clean enough otherwise with no evidence of any vermin/bugs. I tried to flush the toilet and the handle fell off. I didn't see many other guests and it took forever to get a cab when I left. There is no room service, the card in the room announced, " during the "multimillion- dollar renovation" that was NOWHERE in evidence: no construction, nothing. Plusses: the 'downtown'location is ideal: very convenient. And even at the tail end of April, Rochester was very cold, what else is new, but the heat in my room was vigorous and consistent, moreover the free breakfast was good, although consumed under the Argus eyes of two scrawny grayish harridans who offered no help but seemed to be there to monitor guests' food consumption. Sadly, I remember this hotel in better days when I would meet friends here for a drink or dinner after work and we even had our wedding luncheon here in the 1990s. Today, this hotel is just tolerable Read more

"Not very clean..."
Our room was dirty. It was uncomfortable because it was warm outside, but they hadn't turned on the AC yet. I was told by the person at the front desk to "open a window". Of course, the windows had no screens. Overall, the hotel is run-down and desperately needs updating (and cleaning). I will not stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it.
"Shower Head was the best part of the stay"
Our room was quite dirty. The hotel, overall, was dirty and needs updating. We only stayed for one night. If it had been more, I would have found another hotel. The only positive was that the shower head was really great. I will not stay there again.
"super terrible!!"
To start off, the man at the service desk was extremely rude. We had to pay $4 plus tax for parking (I've never heard of that before). There was no mini-fridge in the room, and the hotel refused to provide us with one, so the food we had packed ended up spoiling. The shower didn't work properly and leaked quite a bit and the bathroom sink took a good […] 3 hours to drain after brushing my teeth or simply washing my hands. The signs to find our room were confusing and poorly designed. Overall, even though I was only staying there for one night, I spent way too much money for a stay that I was thoroughly disappointed with. Read more
Front desk attendent was very unfriendly. Hallways and rooms VERY run down. Ceilings were moldy. Bathroom ceiling tiles were very water stained and moldy. Overall run down and worn out.
"Comfortable but the Internet is worse then dial up"
Comfortable hotel overall - needs some updating but it was clean, close to everything and is easy to get in and out. The only reason I can't recommend the hotel is that the Internet connection either kicks you off or is slower then dial up. I ended up using my phone to check email because it is so slow. If they upgrade their wifi or corded connection […] I'd gladly go back. Not until then though. Read more

"A once proud hotel is now in decline"
- Hotel is not being adequately maintained - Proximity to restaurants poor - felt like I was one of only a few guests at this hotel and everyone knew to stay away but me - I strongly disagree with your star rating for this hotel. - No modern amenties (like a flat panel tv) - Condition of hotel and staff (dress code) makes me question the way the hotel […] is being managed (setting low standards) Read more
"Great rate for a short stay"
Great budget hotel in downtown Rochester. Can be noisy if the hotel is fully booked. Carpeting and furniture are dated, but the hotel is kept clean.

"Rochester Plaza"
The employees at the reservation desk, the restaurant and bar all appeared angry. Dinner arrived cold. It took three requests to obtain bath towels and there was still some garbage from the previous guests in the room. The room was small with a view of a closed up swimming pool. Overall, it appeared dark, small and unwelcoming and way overpriced. Definitely […] we will return to Rochester but will stay at a different hotel. Read more
"Good hotel"
This hotel was pretty good. The weekend we were there the Isley's Brothers were touring so it was pretty packed. The room we had was a corner room with 2 queen beds. The room was very nice and spacious but we were very disappointed with the bathroom. Considering the size of the room, the bathroom was extremely small. Only 1 person could fit in there […] at a time. Service was great. Read more

"The walls are thin"
Nice hotel. Convenient parking and location. Super friendly staff. Only complaint is that I could here every detail of every conversation in the adjoining room. for the cost in downtown Rochester, it's a great place, provided you don't have a loud talker next to you.
"Stay in Rochester"
Room was not clean, bathroom not clean, in dis-repair. No snack, or room service when I was there. Couldn't wait to leave. I was surspised about the Hotel *** 1/2 rating. I give it only one Star.

"Fading, faded..."
I stayed in this hotel for a conference many years ago. At that time it was state of the art. Since then, it appears that little has been done. The wallpaper is tired and peeling; the bathroom old; the windows not washed lately. The restaurants offered mediocre food and service and we were nearly alone in them. Rochester is suffering economically, as […] is evidenced throughout the downtown neighborhoods. Sorry to say we won't go back to the Plaza. Read more
"Would not stay again"
Got in late at night and went right to bed. When woke up in the am with daylight say what appeared to be dried blood on the wall and door frame. Also observed wallpaper on the walls falling off, the microwave oven on the floor and cords across the middle of the floor from one wall to the next. Notified manager at check out seemed concerned...hopefully […] they fixed these problems. Read more
Convenient location for a weekend in the city, but the hotel left much to be desired. Room was hot, a/c made noise, room was run down. you could see the age. Lots of pets in the hotel.
"Rochester Plaza"
Very nice hotel, good price. No breakfast included though. Pool was awesome, no hot tub!!!
"Not a good stay"
When making my reservaton online, I was informed that there was free arking, and there was not.....I aid. I was told there was a refrigerator in the room, and there was not. This was a one night stay with my 13 yr old granddaughter, and I was sadly disappointed. The fitness room had equipment that did not work. I would not stay there again and feel […] I did not get what I was p;romised. Read more
"nice, question the little things.."
The hotel is very nice, and i just have one question...... Who does their maintenance?? Shower head wasn't secure, the flip/lift from bath to shower leaked like niagara falls.. ceiling tiles were out of place...etc.. EVERYTHINGS WAS GREAT!
"Rochester Plaza - I'll never stay there again"
The elevators were not only slow, but also not working properly, missing floors, not opening when they should have. The staff was not very helpful or empathetic. The restaurant was below average quality and above average price. The rooms were dingy and badly worn. Even though our room was non-smoking, the place still smelled of stale smoke.
"Not quite 3.5 stars"
There are a few upgrades: comfortable bed, new shower head, that suggest a higher rating, but the dirty carpet, thin walls, low ceiling tiles in the bathroom and poor toiletries that keeps this hotel between a 2 & 3 star. I wouldn't choose it again for the price.

left over hairs on toilet, exposed mold in both bath room and main room
"Locked out on arrival"
I arrived after 1:00 in the morning, and the front doors were locked. I had to stand outside for 5 or 10 minutes after I buzzed waiting for someone to let me in. Location was close to where we needed to be, but my CEO greeted me in the morning by saying, "This was a bad hotel."
"great hotel for the money"
Great stay close to all downtown activites would recommend to all
"Satisfied Customer At Rochester Plaza Hotel"
I had a very pleasant stay at the Rochester Plaza Hotel for the second time. The housekeeping personnel were very polite and eager to accomandate your requests. The room floor could have been a little cleaner (stains on carpet). I would recommend the hotel to someone and it is a 3 star hotel.

"Good location"
Hotel needs updating, very warn looking but clean. Staff not too friendly--- television blasting in lobby and checkin person seemed 'bothered" that we arrived when she was doing paperwork. Staff in restaurant blasting music from a cell phone in diningroom at breakfast -- sounded like AM radio. Was ok for one night but would not go back.
"Rochester Plaza Hotel"
Staff there was super from the parking attendant to the 2 women at the front desk. The only reason I gave a 3 for cleanliness was there was a couple of hairs in my bed (probably the maid's which isn't the biggest deal, but still) and there was a plastic razor cover on the very side of the sink that was clear and not very visible, but still). The price […] of the room was so reasonable and appreciated. The only real complaint I have is there's no climate control. It was 78 degrees in our room and we like it cooler to sleep. All and all a very pleasant stay and we would definitely stay there again. Read more

"Business & Pleasure"
I was satisfied with friendliness in the Bar and Grill.. Found that other pars of the hotel to be very interesting.. As for the room, it was in poor condition when it came to cleanliness and in need of updates especially pluming.. Very greedy with towels and other supplies for having 2 adults and 2 children. The beds were suppose to be 2queen, turned […] out to be 2 doubles... Maid service kept entering our room without knocking, first at 8:15am, then 9:30am and again at 10am when check out was at noon... Parking was convenient as well as location for business and pleasure... I enjoyed the site seeing in the Rochester area, however hotel directory and welcome pamphlets was no assistance and needs to be updated... Although we enjoyed the people and surrounding area, I wouldn't recommend this hotel because of the much needed updates and it was very expensive for services we received.. Read more

"Excellent Place to Stay"
My stay at the hotel was great! the people were helpful and courteous and the food was delicious in both restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
"Needed a Hotel near expressway"
Family gathering from out of town, we needed some place stay that was close to the church and we wouldn't get losted drving all over town looking for it. Being in the city for the first time your hotel made it very convience for us. The cost was good and so was our stay. Thank you for your expressing of sympathy.

We stayed only one night for the NYSSMA conference. Basic hotel, has everything you need for a short stay. Our rate did not include the breakfast. However, there is a small coffee shop in the lobby, which offers very limited variety of breakfast food. The location of hotel was perfect for our needs. Airport shuttle was also a great convenience. Reliable […] and quite comfortable. The room we stayed was a very good size room (there was 2 of us), the beds are comfy, linens were clean and very warm. Read more
"Welcome to 1970 & we haven't changed a thing since"
The hotels wasn't a disaster, but clearly not what we expected or that the hotel is marketed as. The place looks like it hasn't been touched in 40 years. Lobby is worn. Rooms are worn. Window frames covered in dirt. The bed was shoddy and saggy. The sheets had stains on them. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up so us men needed to take care. The towel […] rack was falling off. The hot water knob in the shower was too hot to touch. The carpet was worn and buckling. We were out all morning and afternoon and our room still wasn't cleaned at 4:30. The coffee shop was so dirty. The bin holding the sugar packets was filled with sugar. Customers got to butter their own toast and bagels from a bin of butter that looked like it could have been sitting on the counter for a few days. The coffee was ok. The parking lot had a full sign blocking the entrance even when the lot wasn't full. The staff didn't think it was important enough to continue to check the lot so when spots opened up guests would know. Take my advice, move the sign to the side and park your car. Bottom line, if you can get this room for $50 a night I would probably say go ahead. If you are just looking to save a few dollars, don't do it: go for the Raddison or the Hyatt. Read more
"Good deal"
We used hotel for two nights and we paid reasonable price. It took the clerk bit too long to check us in but she was friendly and helpful. We did not use the additional facilities (restaurant, bar etc) so there is no comment about those but great on the room price.
"Don't stay there"
Room was awful as was the parking garage off site in a borderline area.
