"US Open travelers be careful"
A group of us went to the US Open this week. This was a new hotel for us as we usually stay at another hotel. While the transportation to and from the Open was great the hotel didn't have access to watching the matches at nite in our rooms on the TV. We were given the option to watch it in the bar but the TV there wasn't HD and was horrible to watch […] a tennis match on. Despite asking for service, they said it couldn't be done till the next day. I was told I would receive a call back from someone at the hotel but didn't to discuss the matter further. They said they can't control the service provider for the TV service. I found the Customer Service person rude and totally unhelpful. With the prospect of net year with 20 people and ten rooms to book, don't think we will go back there. They could care less about what the customers wants. "Being renovated now"
It served the purpose for us checking in at 11pm and having to leave at 5:30am for a flight. The front desk staff and shuttle guy were courteous and professional. The room was clean but dated - they still have the picture-tube TV's. However, half the hotel was covered in plastic and there was scaffolding outside, so I give them credit for renovating. Room needed repairs. Tv did not work, lights in restroom were terrible, AC vent was half off , furniture was very worn. Was over charged for room, but they corrected it when I showed them my email bill. Location was very near airport. The hotel is conveniently located to airport with fast bus pick up. Nice lobby and friendly staff. The rooms are large and the amenities and conveniences are OK. The room feels a little outdated and can use a fresh fix up although they did have the de rigueur flat TV. The rooms was so out of date bed was uncomfortable. They still have tube tv's which gives off that annoying sound while on! I felt lik I was stuck in the 80's brass bed frame not my style at all. I have stayed several times in this hotel mainly for it proximity to LGA. But it was quiet disappointing to witness the neglect that it has fallen into. Tub was clogged up and toilet was pretty much alike. Decor in and out the room is so deteriorated that it makes you sad. Kuddos for the lounge though. "Extremely dated hotel with a disenfranchised staff"
Granted we were staying at this hotel just to get sleep before catching an early flight out of LGA, but come on. I also get that it is cheap for NY. However, I felt like I had walked into a bad 1980's movie. The hotel was apparently catering to the Korean airlines flight crew and couldn't be bothered with anyone else. We had to carry our bags down two […] flights of stairs from the parking garage to the hotel (and back again in the morning) because there were no bellmen. The room continued the bad 80's theme with a TUBE TV and the pillows on the bed were 12" square pieces of uncomfortableness. We ask for different pillows and got two more of the same. The shower did not drain and it took ten minutes for the water to get lukewarm. We were going to address these issues to the front desk the next morning but they seemed disinterested in even helping us check out. The parking and breakfast were supposed to be included in the price but we had to pay extra for parking ($13 for 7 hours) and had to argue with the wait staff in the dining room to get our "included" breakfast. We were glad to leave! If you feel that $215/night for this is worth your while, by all means stay here. Otherwise keep shopping or, at a minimum, stay at the Hampton Inn next door. The hotel was decent. The room was clean but smelled like it used to be a smoking room. The food in the bar was very good for dinner (we shared nachos) We had the breakfast before heading to the airport thinking it was free since it was a cold buffet with very few options. From the reviews, I wasn't expecting much, however, I was greatly surprised. The shuttle from La Guardia arrived within minutes of us calling (around 10 pm), front desk was helpful. First trip to NYC. Laguardia Plaza offered what we needed -reasonable accommodations with shuttle service to the Mets station to catch #7 train to get into Manhatten. To return to hotel you will need to catch#23 bus after getting off #7 train at 103 Rosevelt/Corona exit. Staff was very helpful giving us directions and tips on places to go and what transportations to take. Not a super fancy hotel but I like the fact they have transportation to and from the La Guardia airport and to the Queens shopping center. Is kind of far from Central Park and all interesting places to visit. We spend 1 1/2 to 2 hrs daily commuting […] on bus and two metro lines to get to manhattan. On the first day we took it as being part of the adventure as the days progressed we were tired of it (we stayed 7 days) Our bathtub was a little clogged. This hotel is far from the subway station. Hotel shuttles are not very frequent. Hence, one would be forced to take the public bus to the subway station if one has to go to Manhattan/Brooklyn, which is not very convenient.
