"I would never stay here again"
The hotel was old, dirty and in awful condition. The lobby reeked of a chlorine smell when we walked in and my daughter said it smelled worse than the pool in her high school. Our room smelled like smoke, there was mold on the walls in the bathroom and the drain in the tub was stuck which caused the tub to fill with water while I was trying to use the […] shower. The television in the room was an old Zenith box-set with a fuzzy picture. When I called the desk to complain about the smoke I was told that someone would be up there soon to "spruce it up", whatever that means. I demanded that we be moved to a room that was habitable and, after being told that my request could not be granted because the hotel was sold out, they happened to find a room. Well we stayed there for 6 days and the beds need to be improved the room was very clean its a older hotel. It was nice that they came and picked us up at the airport and they will drop you off at the subway and they give you a paper that tells you what subway will get you to the bus that will drop you off in front of the hotel. "You get what you pay for..."
Hotel shows it's age, in need of renevations. Only water vending machines, no pop or ice dispensers. Shuttle to metro is drop off only. No pick up, even though it would be a short drive. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. That's the reason it got any stars. Room is nothing like pictures online. Curtains were broken, the fan in the bathroom wouldn't turn off (staff said they couldn't control it), only had sheets on the bed (no quilt!), dirty carpet and walls (I hate to wipe off a large red stain that I couldn't stand), and the toilet […] had flushing issues. It all worked out, but it was disappointing. The thing that bothered me most was how thin the walls were. A neighbor complained to me that myself and my friend being too loud (we really weren't), but we understood what he meant as the following night as I could hear our neighbor channel surfing on the television as I was trying to sleep. You literally have to whisper to avoid disturbing anyone at night. I'm sure her tv was not that loud. Housekeeping doesn't know any English. One woman knocked on my door and I politely declined (I forgot to put the do not disturb sigh out) and she looked confused and said, "what?" It took a few ways to tell her that I did not need any service. Lastly, the hotel breakfast is a JOKE! Floppy bacon, mushy potatoes (supposed to be fried), cold, old, and without much variety. It was a waste of $15. The staff was the best part (aside from housekeeping). They helped with directions, answered any questions or concerns, and made enjoyable small talk. My boyfriend and I spent one evening at the hotel. It was perfect for our needs as we had a 5am flight out of La Guardia Airport the next morning. Stayed 3 nights with a great price through Hotels.com. The hotel is older and renovations have been done. First, I bought a queen size room and they gave me a double room. I had to go back to the front desk to get the correct room. That was very irritating. The toilet had black strikes which I think are from water stains, but it that was gross. 3.5 stars. The problem is really with the awful location of LaGuardia Airport. The hotel is convenient to the airport but isolated from the subway and everything else. Important note: the airport shuttle does NOT run a "continuous 24-hour loop" as claimed on the website. You have to call them for service in the evening, and they come pick you up on […] the upper level of LaGuardia, not the usual lower level. I waited for almost an hour at the normal hotel shuttle stop downstairs before the penny finally dropped and I got out my phone. The hotel itself is fine for what you pay.
