Overall, my boyfriend and I really enjoyed our experience at the hotel. The lobby was charming, the staff was friendly, and our room was clean and had a huge, comfortable bed. To point out a couple negatives and reasons why I did not give a 5-star rating...1) our room had a funky smell and 2) there is very little counterspace in the bathroom. We also […] noticed a lot of outside noise on Friday night and Saturday night as we were on the fourth floor and our room faced a popular night club. However, we didn't mind too much as we live in a city and are quite used to it. We really appreciated the hotel restaurant's happy hour, which offered beer, wine, and other liquor for $5.25 everyday from 4 to 9; we needed this after walking for several hours each day! What we enjoyed most was the location of the hotel. The White House was only a few blocks away and all the other monuments/ government buildings could be reached within a 20 minute walk. The weather was perfect and we were able to walk the 2 miles or so from one end of the National Mall (Lincoln Memorial) to the other end (Capitol) with no problems. We were surrounded by walking tours, bike tours, and other groups/families using the city's public bike system, Capital Bikeshare, to get around the Mall, so if walking isn't for you, there are many of other options. 2 metro stops are in very close proximity to the hotel: McPherson Square & Farragut N. "Moved to another hotel"
Upon arriving at the hotel we were informed that some of their rooms were unavailable and they had to move us to another hotel. The other hotel turned out to be the Mandarin Oriental a short drive from the Crown Plaza. We got a large waterview room and excellent service at this hotel. The best part was that due to the inconvenience the Crown Plaza refunded […] us in full and even paid for valet parking at the Mandarin Oriental. Even though we did not stay at the Crown Plaza I think that they handled everything with promptness and professionalism. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Pet Friendly and Good Location"
The hotel is a good pet friendly option. There is a park across the street, however, it is full of homeless people, and a night time walk of your dog may be an adventure. The hotel is about a mile from the Washington Monument, and some huge green spaces to really exercise your dog. The Whitehouse is a bit closer. There are some great restaurants in […] the neighborhood - BLT Steak, Joe's, etc... One BIG issue was the elevators in this old building. They were awful. People were waiting for 20+ minutes to get an elevator to their rooms. Those on the lower floors took the stairs. Management claimed it was a maintenance issue; I'd read some other reviews because I suspect this may be an ongoing problem. If not for the elevators, I'd give it a definite thumbs up. If you take the chance, try to stay on the 5th floor or below in case the elevators continue to be problematic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel, friendly helpful staff"
Renovated in 2012, and on the National Register of Historic Hotels (always favorites for us, this is a beautiful hotel convenient to the White House and the Metro. Room is typical size for a 100+ year old hotel. Staff, all Staff, were extremely friendly and helpful at all times. The elevator had an issue - it stopped at all floors going up and down, […] frustrating, but fixed mid stay, got free wifi for our troubles. We would stay there again and recommend it to others. Great centrally located Hotel. Really enjoyed the decor, our room was small but very comfortable. Staff was very helpful and really helped us with tours, directions and/or questions. Enjoyed and recommend the breakfast buffet, especially travelling with kids. Lively group in the bar with a great happpy hour. Will definately stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location was perfect for our event (Nike Half Marathon) and near Metro. We arrived at 4 and room was not ready until 6. There was almost always a line for the elevator. The elevators were slow and stopped at every floor regardless of if someone was waiting. The room was very comfortable and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location and very clean"
This hotel is right in the center of town just 2 blocks from the Metro station and close to the White House. It was very clean and quiet. The only drawbacks were no closet or even a luggage rack to set my suitcase on plus no iron. The elevators were extremely slow and I ended up walking down 5 flights with my suitcase after waiting 10 minutes for a […] elevator that never came. Overall, it was pleasant stay. I stayed in this hotel when I was in town for the Nike Women's Half Marathon and I have to say I was very happy here. I chose it mainly because of it's proximity to the start of the race, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodations and the great service from all the hotel staff we encountered. Where else could you get concierge […] to bring you a pair of scissors at 4:30am on the morning of a big race where half your visitors are a part of? The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, the gym is properly stocked with towels and water and wipes for the machines. The only thing I will say was there seemed to be a problem with the elevators stopping at every floor, but the hotel staff was actively working on fixing that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"consider paying extra for a good room..."
We probably had the worst room of the hotel. 844. Right beside the loud elevators and washing machines. Very tiny and overlooking a gravel courtyard and some other windows. I asked for a high floor looking at the park, but apparently that cost extra. I did pay full price, no discounts. Hmmmm. That being said, rooms have been remodeled and look up to […] date and clean, the shower provided strong hot water, there was a newspaper delivered, and beds were fairly comfy. Maid service did not show up until 4:30 pm. Room service was as usual, pricey, but not typical, excellent. Large portions of good food. Did I mention how tiny the room was? The gals at the desk the followings days after check in were wonderful. Friendly and full of good travel tips. Lobby is comfortable and beautiful, door men very nice as well. Internet wifi should be included in my opinion. Close to public transportation and a few am/lunch spots. Starbucks was handy for morning coffee. We loved exploring our beautiful Capitol city, and the hotel was not bad. I'm pretty certain if we had a better, bigger room it would have been real nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Hotel with Great Location"
Location was perfect - close to Metro station and also easy walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Room was on the small side, but beautiful and comfortable. Only complaint would be the elevator situation. It's a historic hotel, so it's understandable, but the elevators are tiny (they say they can fit 8, but any more than 4 people and you get […] really friendly). There are 4 of them, but at peak times it can be very difficult to find one to fit in. We stayed on the 6th floor and ended up walking down the stairs most of the time because any elevator stopping on our floor was already full when it got to us. Wouldn't have been a big deal except I'm recovering from knee surgery, so if you can't do stairs I would recommend requesting a lower numbered floor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Will stay here again."
Just returned from a 4 night stay in Washington, D.C. We traveled with five adults and two children and requested adjoining rooms. Every one of our needs were met promptly and with a smile. Location was fantastic and close to both landmarks and transportation. I have absolutely no complaints and recommend this property highly.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location. Easy access to everything downtown. Housekeeping services were extremely disappointing. We were there six nights and one day our room was not cleaned at all and two other days our towels were not replaced even though they were all piled in a wet heap on the floor. The concierge was extremely helpful but the other lobby staff were below […] average on all counts. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Executive floor worth the extra $"
While a little further from the Hill than I like to stay, this hotel is only a block from the metro, so easy to get around town and to DCA. Great restaurant/bar and the breakfast and happy hour on the executive floor was awesome.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a great time with my family in February and thanks to Ricardo (gentleman at desk), we came back to make our dream come true. He was extremely helpful and gave us all the info we needed to get married in D.C. He took care of us as we were family!!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel in a convenient location"
The Crowne Plaza Hamilton is a decent hotel close to the McPherson Square subway stop. My room and bathroom were a little small but comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great - staff were extremely friendly and my view of the park was great. The bed was a tab short for me, but otherwise very comfy. Loved the Temple Spa amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel, with excellent restaurant"
I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel; especially the restaurant. Very rarely do I receive such excellent service; Oscar, our waiter, was very personable, efficient and super service minded; wish people in all trades could see how us in the service industry should act. Kudos Oscar!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent stay, great location."
The location of the hotel was perfect, just around the corner of the white house. The rooms were on the small side but clean. Remember to bring your own pillows though as that was the main dissapointment of the stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the price the room was small and dated The carpet was worn and stained. The room was so warm we had to put air conditioner on and this was when it was snowing outside! Worst part is that they charge for internet; sleep-cheap hotels offer it for free!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Love the Hotel"
It was very near many eateries and a nice location in dc.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our stay was excellent, but for two things: (1.) when we chose to leave before spending the night due to inclement weather the front desk said they would have to call Hotels.com . ..we weren't looking for a refund, we had been in our rooms all day and fully expected to pay for the room for the night even though we were leaving (2.) The valet parking […] took FOREVER -- nearly 45 minutes to get my car as we stood there trying not to be late for a meeting. I called down (as instructed on the valet ticket) and gave ample notice, but then it was another 45 minutes before my car got there. Not good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very convenient, walking distance to the mall."
Pleasant, friendly personnel; couldn't beat the discounted price!Genuine Expedia guest review
Figuring out parking was the most difficult aspect of this trip. There's construction going on in front of the hotel, so finding the valet sign was tricky. I had to take a lap around the block to figure it out. Also as I searched for a hotel to book, I saw nothing about a $45 overnight car fee, but quickly found out in the morning when I received my […] updated bill. Otherwise the hotel was fantastic. I stayed for five nights for a conference, and was very pleased. Great restaurant on site (they provide room service, too). Walking distance to most places in central DC area, including convention center, shops and restaurants along Connecticut ave. It was quiet for its central location, and room was cosy and comfortable. "Close to Metro, White House AND Starbucks"
This hotel is one block from the same Metro Line as Ronald Reagan airport, about four blocks from the White House AND there's a full Starbucks store on the lobby level. We enjoyed the location, but also the art deco furnishings. They were a nice change from the usual chain hotel rooms. Since my husband and I were traveling with our two college-age children, […] we bought two, adjoining rooms. Glad we did -- we would have been really cramped if we had all tried to fit into one room. We arrived at the airport at 10 p.m. Christmas night and we going to take a taxi, but none could be found, so we rode the Metro. It was an easy and safe 20-minute trip. "Could not get warm"
The hotel is definitely on the older side, but what I didn't anticipate was not being able to get the room above 64 degrees for the entire length of my stay. I informed the front desk who promptly sent up engineering. They changed the filter and said the compressor tricked the heat into thinking it was warmer. My brief glimmer of hope was soon dashed […] into another cool night. To make matters worse the "hot" water was warm at best. I found myself having to do sit ups and push ups just to get warm enough for my two minute shower. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - great value."
I needed to be a couple of blocks from the hotel for early meetings. I was so delighted to get an amazing deal from hotels.com. The rooms appear to be newly appointed an the decor is really tasteful, very classy. The bathroom was very pretty. The rooms are surprisingly spacious, given that the Crowne is an historic hotel in the center of DC. They are […] roomy for any location. Service was outstanding. Room was beautiful, had a view of the park, right on the street. Was worried that there would be street noise in the night in the middle of Wash DC, but that was not the case. The only complaint was the baby crying during the night being walked up and down the hall. Was raining during the day and Starbucks in connected inside so, easy access!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful but LOUD"
The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff is excellent and attentive. The rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. However, do not book a "Park View" room. The street traffic during the day is quiet, but at night it's terrible. The honking, police sirens, fire truck sirens (fire house is a 1/2 block away) is non-stop. The traffic coming out of the […] 2 night lounges across the street at 2-3am is so loud I couldn't sleep for hours. Lovely hotel, just don't face the park. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Only 1 1/2 blocks from the Metro station. Wonderfully helpful staff. Lots of food options nearby. No complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close but no cigar"
For the price we feel we could have done better. Close to the metro stop was convenient but there were several panhandlers we had to wade through between the hotel and Metro one block away. The hot water valve in our room allowed for a warm shower at best.(even after engineering repaired it. BTW no offer to move to another room was given or comp, I […] am used to Hampton or Laquintas satisfaction guarantees.PARKING IS NOT FREE $45 per car Per night took 25 minutes for valet to retrieve both cars. Only Valet can do it as there is no self park. WiFi is NOT FREE ($12.00 per connection per computer Per night.) basically leaving us with two of the three laptops irrelevant unless we wanted to pay more, We didn't. Our room was next to elevator noisy no view. Daughter and son in-law's room had no view either. Although this building really is not high enough or situated for a view of anything other than the adjacent buildings. The park next door is a gathering for the homeless as was evident by the soup line we passed on Saturday walking to the metro. I would like to enjoy my vacation without feeling guilty for having just left a hot shower and warm meal. I realize it's not the hotel's fault but the situation is one to consider when booking the hotel. We were safe inside the hotel, the place was clean and decorated very nice with great beds comfortable overall. Starbucks in lobby is a bonus since you can charge it to your room. Do your homework before booking this. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location needs some upkeep"
I staying hotels typically 3-4 nights a week. I chose this for the location. It was just what I needed. The facilities were needing some attention. The elevator was down and the shower faucet was not working right. After fixing it I was able to get a shower. The room was good and the bed was very comfortable. Realize that in the park next to the holt […] is a homeless group and there was a fight about 2 am which was not good when you have to get up early. This is not the hotels fault.
