The stay was very good indeed. My one complaint is that the breakfast coffee was terrrible. Why do hotels do this it takes so much from all th other good things, such as great staff, lovely room and great location.

This is an oustanding Hotel. When I booked the room the Hotels.com webpage stated that the breakfast buffet was included. Two days after booking, it stated it was not included. I read a similar comment just before booking, but selected the Hotel anyway. Location, service, and overall experience were great.

The hotel is very well located for downtown business in Manchester. It appears to be recently renovated, the bed is quite comfortable. Breakfast is of a nice english type. The cost of the hotel was very reasonable for what I got.

Went for the Darby and it was only a couple hundred yards away from the train station and lots great restaurants and pubs all within about a 10-15 minute walk. Recently stayed here for best friend's wedding. Room was somewhat disappointing - rather small and bed was tiny for a supposed double. Parking near the hotel is horrendous. Spa was not open on a sunday and room service took forever to respond to call. Oh, and the drinks prices at the bar are astronomically expensive. A somewhat tired old hotel that's […] had its day. Most things at the Midland were wonderful, the location, service, food were all as expected, however the leisure facilities were very limited and the changing rooms were extremely cold, we stayed for 4 nights over a bank holiday weekend and the pool and sauna's which were located in each of the changing rooms closed at 6pm as it was a bank holiday weekend? […] Other Spa hotels we have stayed in had leisure facilities open until 9 or 10pm. Excellent stay at the hotel, the staff were very helpful. Got a room upgrade for a nominal fee so we had a little extra space in our room. The only thing i can complain about was the cost of the breakfast for what you got, as i have stayed in other hotels and paid less but got a lot more, but overall it was worth the stay for the night.

What can I say - the Midland hotel is so plush and luxurious I felt a bit like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when I walked in but the staff could not have been more different to those in the film. Fresh faced and friendly the check in was smooth, pre-theatre dinner was delicious and the bed - heavenly! This hotel needs a makeover, its clear that the staff and building need to get refreshed. The filth on the old marble in the halls, the smell of the 1970's and the windows which looks like they've been broken for years. The food was poor not good but poor and extremely over priced. In short this hotel has recently been sold and Q hotels went bankrupt […] and its clear to see the damage on the staff and the building. Stayed here on a Saturday night to go the MEN. The room was nicely decorated, very clean and was of adequate size. Being critical, the where a couple of siight issues; it was it was a bit annoying the windows had been sealed, as we would of liked to get some fresh air into the room in the morning (as the air conditioning wasn't very powerful) and I […] was a bit disappointed I couldnt get radio 1 on the tv (only radio 2 and 4): However they are only minor points.We used the pool and spa twice, which again was an enjoyable experience (it was a bit of a shame the sauna was situated separetely in the changing rooms, as my wife and I like to use these things together) but overall we enjoyed using the health club. The hotel staff where very helpful bringing us ice and menu's. We cannot comment on the hotel restuarants as we ate at one of the many restuarants situated near to the hotel. Also in the morning we decided not to pay for the hotel breakfast and walked to weatherspoons which is only a 5 minute walk from the Midland....Overall we had a lovely night at the Midland and would certainly stay here again. I liked this hotel. Unfortunately the food in the restaurant is slow in arriving and not of a quality sufficient to justify the price I am afraid and I think that sorting that out (I have stayed twice) must be an absolute priority for this hotel.

We enjoyed staying in this beautiful classic British hotel (where Rolls met Royce). It is a quality hotel but (as the price indicates) not truly top quality. Still the only negative thing I can pinpoint is that the mattress was not very good quality. That said, we still slept well. We would consider staying there again.

Great location and a beautiful historic hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Located near to trams and the free shuttlebus from Manchester Piccadilly station is very close too. Not bad. Nice service and having stayed some time ago, nicely refurbished. Staff are polite and helpful. Some thing sneed improving such as when asking for a shaving kit, it never arrived and running out of a liqueur in the bar is, to me, not acceptable. However, it did the job as convenient lotion, clean room. Pillows need improving though.
