Having read the reviews, I was ready for remodeling. What I didn't expect is the condition the hotel was in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Next time I'll stay at a hilton"
This place is a dump. it was under construction and a total mess. The bathroom was falling apart and the room was very antiquated. Lesson learned, I'll stick with the big name.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is undergoing renovations so some parts are closed off. It is a beautiful hotel. The staff is wonderful!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"will be great"
The hotel is currently undergoing renovations. Swimming pool is inaccessable. Parking is a paid service (even for self-parking in the hotel lot). Still, I loved rhe location. Proximity to downtown attractions was amazing. The Alamo, Ripley's, La Villita, the riverwalk were all in walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Riverwalk"
It was a great hotel. So much character. The way the rooms were decorated, the furniture, and the music playing in the lobby, you could tell they gave thought to everything. Also within walking distance to the riverwalk. And the staff tried very hard to make sure we were happy. Good drinks at the bar, and decent food. The only negative thing was the […] construction. They tried to lessen the effects of it, and gave us a room as far away from it as they could, but we could still hear it in the morning when we were trying to sleep. When the construction is finished, it will be a perfect place to stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great view of Travis Park; short two blocks to Alamo and other attractions /dining on Riverwalk; valet a little expensive but all staff was polite and curteous.... but on the down side, can you say RENOVATIONS??? Rooms / bath are overpriced and small. No dining area, minimal bar at best. Food from kitchen / room service was great but pricey. This will […] eventually be a very elegant hotel , but in the meantime the proximity to downtown is really the payoff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Would like to have been informed until was under renovation.....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a grand old hotel. The place was in the process of being refurbished. No ice on the floor. Resturant was not worth it. The staff were lovely and eager to help. The same guy who hustled our bags waited table inthe resturant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Under repairs so got a squeaky bed, no hit water old shower no water pressure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
They need better shower heads and more hot waterGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needs some time"
The hotel is nice enough and is about two blocks away from the Riverwalk. It's close enough to be part of the fun on the Riverwalk, but then when you're done you can still get away from it. All of the staff that I had contact with were courteous and friendly. They even held our bags after we checked out until our conference was completed. The only big […] issue is that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations. They will tell you that the construction will be from 8:30am - 6:00pm. That may be true, but the workers start dragging their equipment everywhere at about 7:00am. As long as you don't want to sleep in any later than that, you should be fine. "Since you asked"
The hotel was in terrible shape. I should of made a list of all the issues confronting. I never had any other problems staying at your hotels. Someone needs to see for them selfs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed there 6/20/14. The hotel was built in 1909. As of our stay it was in pretty bad shape. It does have some nice history. I won't stay there again unless the price comes way down.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel undergoing refurbishing construction"
The hotel is beautiful and will be tremendous when the work is complete. The staff is fantastic, especially Daniel and Daggy who were very helpful and kind.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is in the process of renovation but they done a nice job limiting the impact of the construction work. I would stay again.2Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Love the location and this historic hotel. Service was very good but now is not the time to stay here. Huge remodel project is in progress. Parking garage and swimming pool are closed. Fitness center was extremely hot. Vents blowing warm air and thermostat didn't work. A large fan was in the room but we couldn't turn it on. We stayed here several years […] ago and I still remember the wonderful feather pillows. Well, they are gone! We will try the St. Anthony again in a couple of years when the work had been completed. "Great customer service!"
Although the hotel was under renovation, the staff made a difference through their high level of customer satisfaction. In particular Patty at the front desk and Eddy, the doorman. Highest kudos to Eddy who was above and beyond the shining star!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would stay again"
Hotel was under remodeling but they handled it very well. Did not impact our stay. Room was very clean but did not have a place to put the soap in the shower. Location was perfect for our needs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Grand Old Lady"
The St. Anthony has been around since 1910 or thereabouts. I have been staying at it since 1976. The hotel is undergoing renovation, so the grand old lobby is not up to snuff; otherwise the hotel is great. The location is supper for those going to the Majestic Theater, the Tobin Center, the Riverwalk, the Alamo, etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Looking Forward to Return"
At our recent stay at the St. Anthony, our first impression was in the hotel lobby. What a beautiful area that one could only imagine all the things that had gone on in this hotel over the years. When we stepped out of the elevator onto the 4th floor, things changed a little. We were aware that the hotel was undergoing reinovations, however, it was […] quite surprising that we were placed on a floor where there was VERY ACTIVE construction going on. The ceiling tiles looked as though they could fall down any minute and the hallway was very dirty and dusty (due to construction). Once inside our room, we were VERY pleased with the cleanliness, spaciousness and ambience. Loved the windows that over looked the street and park and liked the general overall feel of the room. Was a bit loud during the day (due to construction) but EVERYONE including construction workers etc., room servers and front desk were EXTREMELY polite and willing to do anything to make our stay more comfortable. Will definitely look forward to returning after construction is complete!!! Will be beautiful! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect location / National Historic Landmark"
When I initially booked this hotel, I was not aware that it is currently being renovated. Although the interior of the public areas doesn't look like what you see in the website photos, it's still inviting and intriguing through its transformation process. Those who appreciate history, culture and architecture, will certainly find charm in this hotel […] and will enjoy discovering the elements that tell its story - "A Legend is Reborn." This hotel was under renovations when we stayed, very disappointed though because they closed all the amenities for this purpose, no pool, no bar, no restaurant. The put a few tables out in the lobby for dining but just not a nice atmosphere with the majority of the halls closed off with sheets. And I can understand their need to renovated since the […] bath tub was chipped and stained and the room smelled moldy but they put us in a hallway with exposed wires coming out of the ceiling. We switched to the Sheraton. Maybe when renovations are done this hotel will be worth paying 150 a night but not right now. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Riverwalk"
The only reason this does not get 5 stars is because of the ongoing renovations. Although they are doing the best they can, it still detracts somewhat from the experience. The real standout here is the staff. They are incredible. Will come back in the future just because they are so awesome.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Romantic Getaway !!"

"My Romantic Getaway was Ruined"
We were never told that the hotel was under renovation so everything was dusty and ugly. In the room I had a hard time sleeping because I was able to hear every single word and noise from a couple staying in the room next to ours. In day #2 of our stay the towels were not changed. In short, my romantic getaway was ruined.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hall Hath No Fury..."
Like a woman denied a vanity, or faced a mirror too high on the undersized bathroom's wall for anyone under 5' 6" to use. Or yesterday's leftover breakfast buffet items recycled for today. I needed cash to tip the valet service and inquired at the desk as to the location of the ATM. "There's a bank on the next block." Would they do a cash transaction […] with a credit card? "Sorry, it's our policy not to advance cash." Even Wal Mart has ATM's and will advance cash. Granted the hotel is under renovation but that should only affect the building not the service levels. Talked to the day manager about the unacceptable levels of service and was assured that things would be better when the nightmare was over. It would have been better for the hotel's reputation to just shut it down, complete the renovation and have a whiz bang grand reopening. The nightmare is scheduled to end in December but we were told they ware a little behind schedule. Until about Spring of 2015 I'd recommend a walkthrough before registration. The St. Anthony is being remodeled while we were there. Project to last until the end of 2014. This hotel needed to be remodeled 10 years ago.I do not recommend this hotel until after remodel is completed. The bed is so high from the floor that it is difficult to climb into .Hotel staff was friendly and helpfulGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Eventhough the hotel is under renovations, I would stay there again. It's only two blocks from the riverwalk but it's away from all the tourist traffic that most of the hotels by the riverwalk seem to have. Noise level from the renovation is hardly noticable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the amount of money we paid there should be more water pressure. My wife was left with a small stream off water while in the shower. First night the problem started and thought maybe it would get better but it didn't. There were gnats in our room. The location was great but if you take care of that problem then I would rate it higher.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not as Nice as Online Pictures"
The hotel was not anywhere near matching to the pictures on the website. The pictures were gorgeous but the hotel was in the middle of renovation. The room and carpet in the hallway was old. There was no clock in the room. The AC made some noises during the night. There was not much decoration in the lobby compared to the beautiful pictures. It was […] a disappointment, I was so looking forward to wow my parents but that did not happen. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good Old Hotel.."
The St. Anthony, is a good Old Hotel. Renovations are currently going on. It would have been good to stay on a Floor where no construction was going on, although the construction crews were very cognizant of the guest, so noise levels were at a min. The bed was old and very creaky.. Any movement and it made loud creaking sounds. The shower stall was […] not clean, black marks were everywhere as well as foot prints... The staff was very, very nice and accommodating, other than the above mentioned notes, the staff made the stay most pleasant. I wouldn/t mind staying again post renovation.. "Great people but bring your hard hat"
The hotel is undergoing a major restoration. This is a great property and I hope to return when completed but was somewhat disappointed to be in the middle of a construction zone. They are doing the best they can under the circumstances and the staff is going out of their way to help make things as good as possible.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When we arrived, we had no idea they were renovating the entire hotel. We were a little disappointed, however the service we received from valet to check in and breakfast the next morning was the best we have ever received. Still an awesome hotel. We can't wait to go back and stay again once rrenovation are complete.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I went to San Antonio for a mini-vacation, and chose the St. Anthony for our stay. We were very impressed with the hotel. All of the staff was very kind and helpful! We would definitely plan another trip to this hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly Staff, Great Location"
My daughter and I had a fantastic stay. Girl that checked us in was very friendly. Everyone was friendly. The valet was amazing. Our server at breakfast was amazing. All very friendly. The Hotel is under construction which I saw a lot of people complaining about but it isn't a big deal. I hardly noticed at all. We were only in our room to sleep anyway. […] We were too busy out and about during the day. The Hotel gave us chocolates which my daughter was more than happy to eat that had a scratch off to win goodies. We got free lunch for her and I. Which they let us use to have for breakfast. Breakfast was fantastic. I really like the location of the Hotel. The Riverwalk was a short walk away. Just a couple block I believe. The Alamo, Ripley's and the Children's museum were all right there. I highly recommend staying here. The rooms were clean as well. Bed was comfortable. Wifi worked great when we needed it. Didn't watch TV much. Overall had a great stay. Thank you. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
