We had a wonderful, romantic get a way weekend in Chicago and the best part was the hotel. The Wyndham Chicago exceeded our expectations and was a wonderful, quiet retreat. We could relax and hide from all the bustle of holiday shoppers. Exceptional concierge services-so helpful and friendly.

After reading other posts about the sirens from the hospital, I requested a room as far away as possible. We ended up on the 12th floor. While I could still hear the sirens, they didn't wake me. Beds were very comfortable. The tub drain ran slowly, but when I reported it to the front desk, it was promptly fixed. The bar was understaffed, and we couldn't get anyone to wait on us. Finally got a coffee which cost $3.50. No refills because they were busy. Had a drink at a restaurant and then ordered the same drink at the hotel for twice the money. Don't go to the bar! The concierge recommended Bice, an Italian restaurant around the corner. We had an excellent, though expensive, dinner. I like the central location one block from Michigan Ave. I would gladly return here.

The Good: - Very close - walking distance - to practically all attractions. Anything else is a $4-8 taxi ride. Very tourist/visitor-friendly and accomodating location - Elevators wait at the bottom floor. Fast to get to your room - Not very crowded. Good insulation - Clean bathroom and room. Scent is a bit strange, but not a bad thing - VERY good staff. Concierge greets you as you walk through hallways. The staff tends to go out of their way to help you. - Well lit, but most fixtures to be turned on by hand (not by switch) - Restaurant connected into hotel - Herman Miller Aeron chairs in the room - Bellboys help call the taxis for you and unload when you arrive - Very nice lobby waiting area with white grand piano The Bad: - Certain amenities are dated (CD alarm clock, TV, etc) but work just fine - Digital thermostat looks nice but is a bit slow. Over time the room heated Notes: - Note that the lobby is on the second floor. You can take a swanky staircase or a giant elevator. - Connected to some Board of Surgeons building.

Centrally located helpful staff nice room. I slept like a dream in their kind size bed. Only complaint, they need a better work out room, possibly with a multi unit universal pc. and less cardio pc's. Otherwise it was a wonderful four day stay. Places to eat that they suggested were very good. Especially the thai place called the Star of Siam.

A very sharp hotel, wonderful hotel staff. My only problem was my prescription glasses were taken from my car after I valeted it. The hotel is not responsible for taken items and the valet responded to the complaint: not our problem, but we'll look around for them. Thanks alot. If I wanted someone to rifle through my car looking for valuables I would have left it unlocked on the street. Needless to say, the drive home was interesting since my glasses would have helped me see the road. The hotel itself couldn't have been better, but I wouldn't leave a thing in the car because you never know who might have your same prescription.

Booked stay with Wyndam for a Birthday surprise for my wife and did we get a surprise. When checking in I asked for a room upgrade if available and to be put on the quiet side of the hotel since one side does face a Major Hospital. We were a little early so we checked our bags and done some walking. Once we returned we entered our room to find we had been upgraded to a, what I must call a suite, a huge room, great bathroom, and most of all very quiet. Very happy and pleased with the stay. And the other reviews were correct in their description of Russell at the consierge desk. Very helpful and friendly guy. Took care of getting my southwest boarding passes. Wish we had a little more time. CTA orange line from Midway is the best bargain in chicago!!!!

As a business traveler and business owner, I take pride in servicing my clients and understand the importance of providing a strong level of service. I might be able to provide a great service, but by not doing it in a timely mannor or showing a strong sense of customer service, I would lose many of my clients. This hotel was very nice, clean and very under staffed. The staff that was working was kind, but the poor people that work there do not have the tools to reach their potential. The property is obviously managed lean on payroll and should not demand the price with Holiday Inn Service.

Wyndham conducted themselves in a manner that made me feel that they wanted my business. I booked the room through hotel.com and shortly thereafter realized I needed to make a change. Wyndham worked with their partner to help me. This sort of cooperation with an online booking partner is atypical in my experience and indicative of a commitment to customer satisfaction. Sure, a tough economy may have contributed, but I felt that both Hotels.com and Wyndham were sincere in their desire to help me. I also arrived well in advance of posted check-in time to drop off articles I did not wish to carry to meetings. I received a warm reception and they checked me in early to a room that was ready - at 6:00 AM.
