It was a great location. The drawbacks were- bathrooms super tiny and had request toilet paper. No ice bin or water outside of bathroom tap.

The staff was amazing :) The front desk check-in was quick and the staff really seemed happy to be there. The hotel was very clean and the location was great !! I could see the beach from the hotel, it was only a 2 min walk to beach. I will stay here again when I return :)

Hard bed and especially low class when there is no electrical outlet or counter space in the bathroom; this is just the basics I don't care how old a facility is! Nice and cosy little hotel just a few minutes walk from the beach and the Santa Monica Pier. Too expensive with 36 USD per night for overnight parking though. OK breakfast, not anything special. Too close to the pier so never really felt safe rooms were small and you could hear everything going on in upstairs and next door rooms. There was sand in the bed even though we didn't go to the beach.

Hotel California's pictures did not reflect the actual room, the amenities, the hotel grounds, the air conditioning. From afar, it looked like a kitschy LA retro hotel. The advertised air conditioning. They did have a ceiling fan, windows that could not open more than 6 inches and it was 95 degrees out that day. Inside the gates, the grounds were dirty, […] bugs flying over garbage, people with the room doors open , it looked like a tenement. I left my room to walk to the Holiday Inn across the street to make sure I had a place to stay before leaving the hotel. I asked the front desk repeatedly if they had cooler rooms, ones that I didn't have to carry my luggage up a flight of stairs...they just shrugged their shoulders and said that this was the best they could do. I promptly called Hotels.com, told them of my problem, they called the front desk and they agreed to credit me one day stay only. Unfortunately, It took over an hour to process this credit as the telephone clerk could not reach the manager to get an approval for my credit. I took my 16 year old daughter here for a mother daughter trip. I chose this hotel because of the location, price and the kitchy surf decor. We loved it! I travel to The LA area often and I usually do not take risk when choosing a hotel. This was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that I found to be bad was the parking. Fantastic location and cute decor. Queen bed was not a true queen so my fiance's feet hung off the end. No ac wasn't a big deal the day we stayed because it wasn't too hot but would be rough on a hot day. Rooms on the bottom floor get a ton of noise from upstairs. Breakfast spread was puny, a few muffins and a bagel or two.

The pictures online are nothing how hotel feels or looks in person. This is a motel and nothing more. Room was dusty and blinds broken. Shower was not large enough to even turn around in. This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. There was no toilet paper in the room and I had to go to the front desk to get it in the middle of the night. My room was NEVER cleaned the whole time I was there - DISGUSTING. There was a gap between the door and the floor and spiders were crawling into my room. Fun place to stay, but be prepared to pay out the nose for parking. Plus, the hotel only has 11 parking spots for dozens of rooms at an additional 25 a night to park. Once the 11 spots are gone your stuck fighting for metered street parking...

For such a small hotel, t was dissapointed that it took the more than one and a half hours past the normal checck-in time to have the room ready. The "junior suite" we rented was no bigger than a typical motel room, and although it had two queen beds it was very cramped in the room with only room enough for 1 chair, and even though it appeared to have […] been repainted sometime recently it doesn't look like the place has had a complete remodel (ever). For example, out of all of the electrical outlets in the room, only a few of them have been upgraded from the "2-prong" style that have not been used for more than 25 years, and the 2-prong style that remained have been painted over (into the plug holes). The houskeeping staff also seemed to have an inability to count as I had to go to the front desk (daily) and ask for towels and/or washcloths (4 people cannot make do with 3 towels & 1 washcloth. Once it was 2-T's & 2-WC's) The "available" parking was not what we were told either. There was not enough spaces for the amount of rooms they have, and had to (on several occasions) ask the manager to have EMPLYOEES cars moved from behind mine so we could get out of our "assigned" (@ $25/day) space. I also witnessed other guests checking in being told to park their cars either on the street or in a parking garage a couple of blocks away. To put it bluntly, this place is "ALL SHOW AND NO GO!". For (literally) a few dollars more we could have stayed in the LOWES hotel next door. Read more

Not a hotel at all but a small motel, although one that charges $35 to park your car in addition to the room price. Breakfast is a coffee pot and some muffins in the motel reception. But the room was clean, reasonably quiet, the shower was cramped but worked fine and the bed comfortable. And the location is great.

On line photos somewhat deceiving, hotel is very cute from the outside but the bathroom is very small & aged. One front desk member had a bit of attitude when asked for assistance and directions, which was quite off-putting. Breakfast was included, but is very minimal. Other than that, the location is good.

We loved staying at the Hotel California! It's technically a motel, and wasn't quite luxurious. But was comfortable, safe, clean and friendly. And the location.. wow! Hotel was very cute, literally steps from the beach. Teeny tiny car-park - be warned & we were blocked in by the staff who were a bit obnoxious when we asked them to move so we could go to the airport. Also had some very noisy teenagers, but the hotel staff came to tell them to shut up :)

Staff were dis-intersted but the comfort and cleanliness of the room made up for this. It is very well located which some could read as it is a little noisy but when the bed is that comfy and all the action is at your doorstep you can't complain. I would go back for sure!

Sovit här 3 nätter i 2 olika rum. Första natten var på framsidan mot Ocean Ave vilket gav lite buller från trafiken.. Hotellet ligger bra och centralt. Rummen gränsar mot parkering och trafikerad gata och är väldigt bullerstörda. Dålig uppvärmning och svårt att få varmvatten i kranarna. Frukosten kan man glömma. Kaffe och muffins på stående fot.
