The service was great! However, the bathrooms were very dirty. Hair everywhere and the towels had stains on them. The pillow cases had hair and stains as well. Yuck!!

Everything was good and acceptable about the hotel. The problem is getting there. The infrastructure in San Antonio really isn't the best or most logical. You can miss this hotel easily and then you'll have to make U turns and other maneuvers to get there. There is no back street you can use to get there by car unless you're walking to the hotel. Use […] google maps and look at the street view to locate the Candlewood Suites sign that will denote its location. The hotel is tucked in the back about 100-200ft from the feeder road. The room was fantastic; large and comfortable. I also thought it was a nice touch that they had free laundry, and didn't gouge you on the prices for things from the cupboard like laundry and sodas. Had trouble finding it, but after driving around for an hour, called and Mike stayed on the line with me until I found it. Hotel service - there was not really any service, as they do not clean the rooms but weekly. There were a few things that we were not pleased with like when we made reservations for 2 adults & 1 child for a suite, we were told there was a sleeper sofa for our grandson but they only had a queen size bed & a recliner chair & no more roll-a-way beds so our […] grandson had to sleep on the floor. The only other negative thing I would have to say is that some of the rooms were being remodeled and we were not informed about this until we checked in. Room was comfortable for all of us to visit in with our family. Only drawback is the sleeper sofa but none of them are ever comfortable. pool was a bit cloudy but was the end of the day in a booked solid hotel. Overall definetly stay again.

Finding the hotel was difficult. It is back off the road, so you have to really pay attention for the sign. room was clean. I wish I had stayed somewhere with breakfast in the morning, they do not have it here. Plenty of hot water and free wifi. I liked that feature. All-in-all not a bad stay, but I really missed the breakfast feature.

Overall, the hotel staff were very friendly. The location is very convenient for those with business near the Medical Center. However, the hotel itself could use some remodeling - the hallway carpet is dark and looks like it needs to be changed. Walls could use repainting to lighten the atmosphere.

Hotel employees were very helpful and easy to work with. I was surprised that during my 3 night stay no one ever cleaned the room, brought in fresh towels, or even simply stopped by to make the bed. Maybe that is the way this particular hotel always operates, but it was my first experience with that sort of protocal. The room was a nice size, clean, […] and quiet. The bathroom was quite accceptable and that is one room which many hotels fall short on. The hotel can be hard to find the first time due to the fact that it is about two hundred yards back off the road. There is a sign next to the road, but you had better be looking for it. I don't know what the nightly rate was as I booked a package deal through Expedia, although what ever it was it would be easier to swallow had they included a continental breakfast (no pun intended). There are snacks and breakfast foods which you may purchase separately. I of course opted for the hot delivered Dominos pizza at night and cold left overs in the morning. Before I forget, the hallways stunk of cigarette smoke, I'm talking worse than a 1960's Las Vegas casino, but it did not seem to permeate into the room. For that I was very grateful (the not into the room part). And may I say that I will never again use Thrifty car rental. The car was given to me dirty and after three attempts, due to my persistance, they finally got the windows clean, but did nothing but rinse off the outside leaving it covered with water spots and the original dirt.
