Candlewood Suites at CityCentre - Energy Corridor - Houston

This was a combination work/getaway stay. I really enjoyed the abundance of electrical outlets and the desk space as well as the comfort of the bed. It is an 'older' hotel, but totally served my purposes and the staff was wonderful too. The price is very hard to beat. They have a lot of amenities for the price.

Much better than expected based on the reviews here. We had two rooms and both looked like they were recently updated. The kitchenettes in both looked new. One room was a little nicer than the other, but the lesser room was an adjoining room and the door took up a lot of wall space where the nicer one had an extra long workstation desk. Three nice features […] were that the rooms had metal exterior doors which seemed to cut down on hallway noise, they had about 100 DVDs at the front desk you could borrow for free, and there was a pantry with more selection than the regular vending machine options that you paid for by the honor system. The rooms we had seemed nicer than the website pictures. You can tell it is an older hotel but it looks like they are upgrading. The staff was very friendly. At 5:45AM the fire alarm went off, scaring the heck out of me! Then it promptly shut off. I had to get up to check around to see if it was a real fire but nope... Then 15 minutes later, it went off again!! Then another time shortly... Needless to say, I was not able to go back to sleep after that! Great experience and a superb value with the option of preparing one's own meals and the very useful "general store" on the premises. We definitely would consider staying there again on future visits (and in other Candlewood Suites hotels).

We recently stayed here for my brother's wedding that was at the Hotel Sorella next door. Overall, I was very happy with this decision, especially since it was half the cost, plus it was pet friendly. Very convenient location with lots to do around and easy on/off access to I-10. The room was clean and comfortable, the kitchen was good enough for eating conveniently and saving money. The hotel is a block or two behind the highway which cuts down on noise, so the 2 block drive was well worth it being very quiet. I would highly recommend that you don't stay here. I usually stay in low and mid-priced hotels, but this was one of the worst I've seen. They are undergoing major renovations and the whole hotel is a mess. I stayed in a renovated unit, but during my stay I got to kill a cockroach and hear a slew of weird noises. This renovated unit also has a TV remote […] that worked only at odd angles and prevented easy channel surfing. The iron ejected a spew of white dust when I used to flatten my black pants. The only saving grace (and reason why people still stay here) is the location. It's walking distance to the splendid CityCenter and near the Memorial City mall. Read more

The room was clean and the staff was friendly. The pantry was a god-send. I think the room needs updating. The cabinets are showing wear and the office chair was in such bad condition I requested it be changed out- which it was the next morning. My question would be why would the cleaning staff not notify the supervisor of the poor condition?

Rooms cleaned once a week, so don't expect a lot of service. Full kitchen with utensils, and dishes in room. Snack store downstairs, with decent variety including healthy options. This hotel was fine for what I needed it for. I stayed one night for business and my appointment was half a mile away. Front desk was friendly upon check-in. Their little store in the hotel is open 24hrs and was very convenient. I like that they had free coffee and popcorn in the room as well.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit. However, I requested a non-smoking room and during the night I could smell second hand smoke in the air. This may have been people smoking in the hallway outside the room or a neighboring room. Whatever the source, my throat and eyes were irritated by the experience. People were also allowed to smoke outside the entry into the lobby area. It was a little tricky to find since it was hiding off the main road, but that adds to its appeal. You can walk to several fabulous restaurants. The room was great, clean, and the staff was nice. If we need another hotel in this area, we will definitely choose this one.

Olivia at the front desk was excellent. I had made a reservation with Hotel.com for a 2 bed suite, only to learn when I arrived there was no such thing. Olivia went above and beyond and helped me solve my problem. She was patient and kind with excellent knowledge and superb customer service. The halls in the hotel are not air conditioned.

Nice place. Quiet, safe, right off I-10, west of town. The clerk on duty should be fired. Rude, condescending and absolutely uninterested in what she was doing. That, however, is our only complaint. Would recommend to others because we know clerk won't last long...

I have stayed at many Candlewood Suites. While this one looks nice from the outside I expect it is an older hotel that has been only minimally refurbished. The water pressure of the shower was very low and the water heating system for the hotel seemed unable to keep up. I had to take a shower with the water turned all the way to hot and it was still […] just luke-warm. The bathroom was so old that the sink was actually yellowed with age. Also, my wife left behind a flat iron and when we went back the next day the hotel was not able to locate the flat iron. On the positive side, the front desk personnel were very helpful. I needed to arrange a cab and the desk spent at least 5 minutes on hold with a cab company for me. The location is excellent for anyone needing to spend time at the CityCentre area. CityCentre buildings and resturants are all within walking distance. Overall, this hotel was not what I have come to expect from Candlewood Suites as I have stayed at several across the country. I would not recommend staying there until they spend some much needed capital refurbishing the rooms. Read more

I reserved 3 rooms for family members who came to town for Thanksgiving and my daughter's wedding. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Even my mother who uses a wheelchair and oxygen machine was able to maneuver easily. The kitchen set up was a real bonus and allowed us to store cakes, turkeys, etc. until the big events.
