Overall i loved my stay in New Jersey, except 2 complaints. #1 - I had requested a whirl pool bath ( I got a regular bath with a shower). #2 - My stay was for (4) nights, keep in mind I am from Chicago. So on my second day, my admin in Chicago recieved a phone call to get a message to me --- that I left all my clothes in my room and that I had checked out. Well, my admin called me on my cell. I was so scarred I didn't have any where to go. I called the hotel very concerned and spoke with the manager, Within an hour, I was assured I had a room after investigating who made that call to my office in Chgo. My stay was 2/18, 2/19, 2/20 and 2/21.

Talk about a disgusting and unliveable hotel, if you can call it that. Their slogan, where value stays should be changed to where the living come to decompose. The entire hotel smelled like funky armpit cooking which caused me to dry heave just walking the hallways. Be sure to bring matches and candles to mask the ungodly smells permeating through the […] walls. The only saving grace was the comfortable beds, which is only fitting because it would be your eternal resting place. You would need to be a corpse to stay there for any extended period of time. I only wish I could give negitive scores on the above items and provide a scratch and sniff area to correctly capture the aroma. We stayed at the Candlewood Suites Somerset for five nights. We were not expecting an extended stay hotel that did not have daily maid service. A little worn but everything worked. It tends to get VERY noisy at night and the walls are thin. Our floor had a strong smell of curry for our entire stay. The place was perfect in almost all sense for us, comfy bed though a king would have been nice, kitchen, free laundry, nice touch like dishwasher soaps, etc. The only problem was the hallway smells in the evening especially. Get good ionizer air purifiers for the hotel and it will be just great.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a week. Hotel was clean and rooms were quiet except when walls to the hallway were kind of thin. There is a laundry place and cupboard on the first floor so it is convenient to buy foods and take care of your laundry. My one complain is that the fridge made a noise and it was quite loud. Nice hotel under renovation, so the no smoking policy was a surprise after picking a smoking room..Also there were add itional fees but they are returned so it wasn't to bad.Room was great for the price

We only stayed one night, but the room was great for multiple days, free laundry, full kitchen in room. Only negative was that they were remodeling the 1st floor. The room we had was on 2nd floor. We were not affected by the construction. Ask for more pillows, only 3 small ones for our queen.

I always read the hotel.com reviews before we book. I dismiss the really good ones along with the really bad ones. I've always found the reviews in the middle have always been true to their word. This was also the case with Candlewood. This hotel is clean, quiet, the staff is nice, and we booked it for a great price. There's great pizza , sports bar […] and sushi down the street (walking) (also, I got a fabulous manicure and pedicure in the same strip mall :) There's lots of places to eat one street away (car). I would say that the only drawback is that it is set up for extended stay and without room service or cleaning (once a week), and we are messy! However, the fridge, sink, microwave, stovetop, big bathroom large desk/table, etc. made up for it's drawbacks. We will absolutely stay there again. Read more

i showed up at midnight and they had no record of my registration. it took almost an hour to get a room. when I turned on the heat it set off the smoke detector so I couldn't leave it on. The staff left at night did his best but it was not a positive experience.

I checked in late and the door was closed for front desk. Called front desk and no answer for a good 5 minutes. Finally a young man came and checked me in which was very unprofessional. Got to the room, turned on the heat then comes that weird smells. Then the fire alarm also went off because of the heat. It was not such a good experience at all. The room was clean, clean linens, clean bathroom. The staff were very nice and helpful. But the room was very musty - I slept with the window open. And when I put the fan on, it smelled weird so I couldn't keep it on. It was almost like the room had been flooded at one point.
