Based on staying at other Hawthorne Suites, this location did not measure up to my expectations: The room had a partial kitchenette, not the full kitchen like at their other properties and needed for this visit. The room was not a suite - the queen bed barely fit, and there was no couch or living room space like at their other properties. I have had […] better breakfasts at a budget Super Eight, but the icing on the cake is: NO MAID SERVICE ON THE WEEKENDS. I thought these folks were in the hospitality business and have never stayed at a hotel that did not include daily room clean-up! Hawthorne has a brand identity problem with inconsistent amenities for their guests. I now can no longer stay at Hawthorne unless I have been there before and know what I will be getting. I was dissapointed once before at a Florida Hawthorne, but no more. Their hotel in Troy, MI, 15 minutes down the highway, is infinitely superior in all aspects and would be the better place to stay. The hotel is a the best value for the dollar in the region. Two minor complaints: Could not get the TV remote to work and the bath tub was so slippery that stepping in to take a shower was scarey.

The hotel was conveniently located and reasonably priced. Upon arrival I realized why it was so reasonably priced, the room had an odd smell to it, and didn't feel very clean. It felt more like a motel than a hotel. Next time I will pay a little more for a cleaner room. Clean=comfort.

The suites only have 1 queen bed, so this hotel doesn't work well for a family. There is no indoor pool and the exercise room has a window to the lobby, so everyone coming into the hotel can watch you work out. The continental breakfast consists of cereal bars and packaged muffins. They do have a guest laundry room and kitchens in each suite.

Not only were the beds very uncomfortable, we stayed a weekend and when we needed towels or more blankets we had to go down to the desk to get them. They wouldn't bring them up to the room. Also, the water in the shower was cold and would not heat up. Most uncomfortable stay I've ever had.at a hotel.

This was for a one day stay. The hotel is convenient located and accom odations are very comfortable andnice.I will stay there again on business. The Internet did not seem to be very capable and they told me, they are changing the providers. I used my personal MyFi, which worked well.

This room was not comfortable. The pillows were very tired. The chairs hard as rocks. They didn't clean the room in our 2 day stay or give us fresh towels. It was reasonable and OK. But I think this is our last Hawthorne Suites. We stayed at a Fairfield our last night. For just a bit more, it was so much nicer.

We (my husband and I) stayed overnight before my husband had outpatient surgery at the Detroit VA. We were both very satisfied with this hotel, it was clean, well equipped and the staff was very friendly. Our only complaint was the pillows were small and flat, like they needed replaced. We mistakenly left out bathroom supply bag in our room when we left and didn't realize until 2 days later when I looked for it at home, I called them the next morning and they did have it which we would be able to pick up when we would be in town the following week. Not very good stay the first night. The lingering food smells of the occupants prior were overwhelming and completely unsatisfactory since it is not a food that neither my partner nor I like. Once we moved to another suite, the stay was just fine and very comfortable. We enjoyed it very much.

This is a recently converted Candlewood Suites unit that hadn't completed its conversion. There was no hot breakfast, and only very limited cold items available. Good hotel for day or 2 stay. Folks live here for long term & each room has kitchen. So all gallery smells mix of what ever being cooked in each room. Once you get in your room it is ok. Note:- They have once a week bedsheet change policy so if you are not ok with it, this hotel is not for you.

The Candlewood Suites is in an excellent location, just minutes from The Palace, which is why we stayed in Auburn Hills. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, and were the best part of staying at the hotel. The room was furnished with a microwave, full sized refrigerator, a couple of burners for heating food, and a full sized dishwasher. The […] cupboards were stocked with pots/pans, silverware, plates, glasses, openers, dish towels/soap, etc. The bed was full sized and a bit soft for my liking, and although the room was clean, it was dated. There is a nice exercise room, and the hotel does have an agreement with a local fitness center if more equipment is desired. There is also a small area stocked with food items, a nice convenience. We found info in the lobby advertising a shuttle to The Palace. We took advantage of the shuttle, and were very pleased. The cost was $10 per person and took us to Hoops restaurant, a sports bar. The shuttle starts at 4 pm and runs every 30 minutes until 6 pm. Shuttles then leave from the restaurant starting at 6:15. Pick up is at the east end of the venue, and the shuttles take riders back to the restaurant, where another shuttle then takes passengers to the hotel. The hotel will change to a Hawthorn Suites hotel at the end of July, 2012. I would stay at this hotel again if going to an event at The Palace. Read more

My husband and I checked in at approximately 6:45pm on a Thursday evening. Everything went well, until we realized our Standard suite was a handicapped accessible suite, near the front entrance with grab bars everywhere!! Price was right and the room itself would have been OK but there was a big cob web in the corner by the ceiling over the bed and the carpet is very dirty with stains. Really no excuse for cob webs though.
