Cardozo Hotel South Beach - Miami Beach

Cardozo room was sparse and bathroom tiny and not well kept. Had an interior room that was quiet; only plus. Disappointed in the evolution of Ocean Drive. Had stayed in a boutique hotel on the strip about 8 years ago. Came back in 2012 for what was intended to be a couple of days of beaching, eating and drinking in SoBe. This hotel was set on the best location on Ocean Drive. All of the sights, beach, restaurants, clubs, etc. were all just a couple steps away! But, there are always cons with the pros... The things we didn't like was the odd smell of the room, the view of the dumpster & the next building looking out of our window from the 2nd floor, & VALET PARKING was […] pricey & a horrible inconvenience after we checked out (considering there was a gay pride parade on Ocean Drive & parking wasn't allowed). As for the rate of the room for that weekend wasn't too bad. It could've been $100 cheaper considering the room was no bigger than 200 sq. ft., but I must say the robe, the bed & pillows were so comfortable! Other than that, the hotel staff were friendly & willing to assist/help & room service was good. I stayed for two days March 9-11, crazy busy weekend in south beach, but my stay was great at the Cardozo. Awesome location, across the beach, city parking lot next door if you don't want to pay $35 daily for hotel parking, rooms have wood floors, bed comfortable, clean rooms and hotel, awesome customer service, the only thing we didn't care for was […] the bathroom needed major renovation, which I'm sure they are in the process of taking care of as some other rooms are upgraded! This hotel is in the perfect location to experience all S. Beach has to offer. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is fun and run by an Italian guy.

Great location which is why we booked. Overpriced for the quality of the hotel, guess we paid for the convenience of location. We had ROACHES and woke up with bug bites. It's up to you of you want to book depending on your preference on location or quality of hotel.

Highly recommend it. Beautiful room with ocean view. So romantic, wonderful service and friendly staff. I would 1000% stay here again. You will not be disappointed!

Nice, simple, old Deco hotel in the heart of South Beach. Smaller rooms than some may like, but I assume Art Deco Historic District buildings can't be renovated easily--if at all. No pool, but it's across from the beach. The staff was friendly and professional. I thought I was at the Ritz . Clean convienient . Quiet . Rooms a bit small but it's ok . I was there to be outside most of the time .

This hotel was unique, design and accomodations.Location was the best, in the heart of South Beach. Left some tops and some jewelry in the drawer and they mailed it to me intact and without charge,totally awesome. Tjhe only fault is that walls are paper thin, could hear anything from other rooms.

Nice clean hotel in the heart of the art deco district of south beach. Service was good and the staff were friendly. Rooms were dark-paneled which gave a nice look to the room. I paid for ocean view room which gave a very nice view of the water. Nice little area on the side to relax but no pool- of course the beach is right there so this wasn't needed […] for me. If your looking for a pool at an ocean front area you will need to look for a larger potentially very expensive hotel a bit outside the art deco area. This is a great find!. I searched online for hours to find a good reasonable hotel in SouthBeach Every one that I researched looked great on the website, but had terrible reviews. Went in early November 2011 for a conference. Was there 3 nights, at another hotel 2 additional nights. Would happily have stayed all 5 at the Cardozo. Location (by the beach) is great, and the public parking garage is just steps away - has the best price you'll find for parking too. I'll look here first if I'm heading to Miami again. Nice, clean room in a great location - right in the heart of South Beach. Parking is expensive; either using the hotel's valet parking or the Municipal parking garage next door on 13th ave, although that's a lot cheaper than the valet parking. No pool. And the restaurant plays loud music until late in the night. Our room was on the 2nd floor right above […] th restaurant so we heard it. Although the hotel is ideally located, is well maintained, and had an adequate staff, the sound insulation between rooms and to the hallways was nonexistent! Following check-in, I settled into the room, unpacked, and laid down for a quick cat nap. Less than 15 minutes later, I heard conversation, the TV from the adjacent room, and a vacuum cleaner in […] the hallway, which told me this was NOT going to be a good place in which to sleep. I called down to the front desk, and asked him to check into the additional cost it would be for me to also inhabit the corner room, which was adjacent via a connecting set of doors to my room. I thought if I could have both rooms, I might stand a chance of getting some sound insulation. I asked him to please give me the best rate possible, as I was willing to pay extra just to be able to sleep. Over 45 minutes later, he recontacted me asking what it was I wanted him to do. SO, starting over, I once again explained my idea of getting the corner room added to my room for a suite of rooms. He said he'd check w/his manager and get back to me. Another 1/2 hr. after that, he once again contacted me saying the room next to mine was an 'upgraded' room, and the cost would be MORE than what I had paid for the room I was in. I asked if that would still be the case, even if I kept my current room. You guessed it, he said he'd have to ask and call me back later. Okay, I believe this might not have been a 'normal' request, and perhaps he didn't understand me the first time, but after the 2nd time as well? Anyway, he was courteous enough, but in the end, he did finally 'get it', and called me to say that the best he could do would be to match the price of the room I was already in to have both of them. Mind you, the hotel was not nearly sold out, and I told him I'd be writing this very review if he were unable to do better than that. He said "Sorry!" So, sorry! extremely convenient location, close to everything, room is a bit small but cozy, has a restaurant downstairs with great food and decent price for the area. the beach is directly in front of the hotel with running tracks leading to Southpointe Park which is a beautiful setting. overall satisfied with the hotel which is a small boutique hotel simply […] decorated but cozy and adequate for a weekend stay. not fancy like the W or Loew's but for budget traveler like me, this is extremely cost saving. I stayed at the Cardozo hotel and it is a very nice hotel, very centrally located in South Beach. I opted to spend a bit extra (plus taxes) for an ocean view room, but I hardly had an ocean view. I stayed in room 307 and while it was a gorgeous room, there were so many trees and plants grown up in front of the windows that we hardly got any daylight […] let alone a view of the ocean. While it is a wonderful hotel, don't waste your money paying for an ocean view room. Besides, you're really not going to spend that much time in your hotel anyway! Read more

Great hotel but the rooms to small for the price but i guess the location is why it was like that

For starters let me say I have stayed in lots of hotels all over the world. The Cardozo was definetly a Hotel I would recommend to anyone. The staff were beyond helpful,nice,and very friendly. Hi, I just enjoyed 4 days in South Beach at the Cardozo hotel. The staff was wonderful from the time we stepped in the lobby, until the time we checked out. The room was great!!! For the first time, I wasn't worried about getting under the covers. :-) I will definitely go back again and again.

I think this hotel is a great value for the money. It is in a great location and the resturant area is nice....and the food was great!

This hotel is as central to South Beach as you can get. The rooms are nice, as are the beds. The bathrooms need a MAJOR overhaul!! The bathroom would be my only complaint.

Had a lovely weekend at the Cardozo and would definitely go back again. Staff were lovely, location was fab, just across from the beach, food was some of the best we had on ocean drive during our stay, and the mojitos were just fantastic :) Would definitely go back to the Cardozo. This was the second time I have stayed here. My first time was the best since we had a gorgeous corner room where the ocean view is spectacular. ( Of course the price was higher) Unfortunately we changed our room due to the size and awkwardness of the room set up. Apparently some are remodeled and some are not. I found it odd that there were no dressers […] and a very small closet for clothes storage. The Standard bathroom was also too small for toiletries and inconvieniently located too close to the bed without any vents to suck out noise, or odors :) The staff relocated us to the 310 which was better! Great Staff! I miss the dressers and bathroom privacy :( Read more

The Cordozo was a very nice place to stay, open 24/7. The rooms were clean, and also the hotel was quiet at night..which is hard to find in south beach. Located right on the beach, the restaurant had good food, and the people were friendly. Would definitely tell everyone this was a good choice for all ages!!

located on ocean drive, 4 blocks from lincoln road this is one of the best location for a short stay in south beach... Employees are friendly and professional... A good address I will reuse for my next (short) stay in south beach...

Hotel is OLD, in serious need of a complete overhaul. AC was off when we walked in the room, as soon as we opened the door, were hit by a heat wave that took hours to cool off.

Let's face it, no reasonably priced hotel on South Beach is going to be quiet, full of free amenities (i.e. breakfast, parking) and spacious. It's South Beach. My husband and I are not big party people but had an overnight stay in Miami before flying internationally. We'd never been to Miami and wanted to be close to a good beach. The Cardozo was convenient […] with rooms that are large enough and free-to-use beach towels. The hard woods make it a bit louder, but I'll take those over carpet that constantly has salt water and sand ground in! Read more

in the heart of SOBE. Beach access 1 block away. Rooms were modernized. Layout was open and big. Bathroom was cute white with glass, kind of small/cramped but the bedroom area made up for it. Hotel manager was unable to print a bill for my stay. This is critical for me since I was staying on business and need a receipt for reimbursement. Also, he refused to print a form so I could recieve a tax waiver, something I am entitled to as government employee. I was in a hurry to catch a taxi to the airport at check out, and he spent several minutes […] haggling with me. Ultimately, I have no bill and left very irritated. We looked online at every hotel on Ocean Drive (excluding the very expensive ones) and this one looked great so we tried it. After walking up and down Ocean Drive we were SO happy we picked this one. It's actually one of the prettiest from the outside. We had a Superior King and it was great. Now, the only thing to consider is that it's an older hotel […] that was restored and it's mostly hardwood floors so you can hear a lot outside in the hallways, etc. Now, it's not a hotel where there are a lot of partiers it seems but just noise from normal people who always seem to get up earlier than i do as i was out partying! Honestly, this place is great. It's just far enough away from that main stretch of the louder party hotels above the bars. While this place has a great restaurant, it's a classy place and the outdoor restaurant on ocean drive had the nicest "feel" to it of ALL the restaurants on Ocean Drive. Honestly, if you bring a fan (which i always do in hotels anyways to block out some noise) as it's an old hotel, there's no place i'd rather stay on Ocean Drive for the money. Perfect location, beautiful "Miami" type restored hotel, nice service, etc. And i've stayed in some of the elite hotels that cost three times as much so i have that perspective as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room and the hotel was very clean. I had asked for 2 additional towels upon arrival and within 3 minutes, housekeeping was at our door. I had 2 adults and 2 children staying in our room and I had thought we would have had 2 double beds, but there was a roll away bed for the kids to sleep on. Since they're […] tiny kids, it was okay, but 2 additonal bigger kids or adults, I don't believe it would have been comfortable for them. I´ve stayed at many hotels around the world, some very expensive and some not so expensive. But this is the best stay I´ve ever had in any of the hotels so far. We where lucky to have a large room at the corner of the Art Deco building, and the the room and the huge window had a rounded wall against the seafront. Perfect bed, perfect bathroom. Quiet […] after midnight. The athmosfere was really nice, and the front desk people kind and helpful. Parkinghouse just beside the entrance. Perfect location at Ocean Drive with lots of good breakfast cafés, and our favorite café become The News witch was quiet and had very good menu. . Read more

Hotel location is good and reception and rooms are pretty good. Noise from air con units and hotels next door unacceptable, Perhaps they need to think about more sound proofing or new air con units. We had a load of units outside our window. We were supposed to stay three nights, but gave up after one!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Very attractive, very clean, quiet, excellent staff on the desk. They were very nice and very helpful. Food was also very good. I believe this hotel should be a 5 star, or, at the very least a 4 star. I will certainly always try to stay there when I am in South Beach. Happy guest.

workers replacing floor in room on one side, work did not stop until 6pm. music from restaurant below from below and did not stop until after 2am, even after a visit to the front desk to complain did not make any difference
