About a 15 minute walk from the pier and 3 blocks up from the water. Last block walking up a steep hill. We stayed in their most expensive room with a balcony. It was large and very comfortable. Bath room has a large jetted tub. The carpet is very old and had 2 iron burns. (Wish i could attach a picture). Apparently the owner doesn't care, so you have […] to wonder about the maintenance on the rest of this place. They have an unsecured area on the first floor under the staircase, where you can leave your luggage, unfortunately anyone can take it. First time to Catalina - The hotel was easy to find, and the staff was friendly. We stored our bags before check-in so that we could go sight seeing for the day. Clean comfortable room - good location to attractions. We sleep with white noise so it was peaceful and quiet for us.

Well let's see! The hotel staff was friendly and the place was well kept. I guess the only beefs I can come up with is that the queen size bed seemed more like a double and the t.v. was VERY small. Letting us store our luggage before and after check out was huge.

The mattress was hard as a rock, and I don't think you can buy worse pillows! I could over look allot of things except for the bed and pillows. Defenetly will not refer or go back again. Reception desk was cold and to quick to get rid of me. Owner must be absentee!

The best thing about the hotel is the 6th floor patio with stunning views of Avalon and the harbor. Front desk personnel were helpful. There were no problems at all and the efficiency was appreciated.

Santa Catalina Island is super cute - so is everything there, including this hotel. It's older and could use some new carpet but I don't mind stuff like that. The staff member booked me into a room with view of the harbor which was a bonus to my "residential view" reservation. They also let me in the room at 11am already which I thought was very nice. […] The staff member was nice enough but even though she said she is from the island had no info on things I could do or see. She sent me to the island information office and I got help there. I liked the fact that they allowed for me to take my bike into my room with me. We decided to stay at the Hotel St Lauren since it was a good deal on hotels.com. The room we stayed at was regular motel type in appearance. The view on the 6th floor patio was truly spectacular!! They were all very friendly and quick to respond to all of our requests. The staff at Hotel St. Lauren made every day/night just as enjoyable as the last and it was nice to come home to after a day of our island […] adventures. I would highly recommend statying at this location anytime. Conviently located to the local Vons down the street and all shops. Close enough to the water but just far enough away so we could all have a restful sleep for the next day without hearing all the late night party goers. While we saw a few hotels cheaper online, we very very happy we didn't stay at those as we walked up past them on the way to st. Lauren. It has that old Victorian cottage feel to it. The decor is out of date, but its part of its charm.
