"Blast from the past"
This is a clean, friendly budget motel. Loved the fact they supplied fresh milk and delivered breakfast to the room. Decor was pure unadulterated 80s ( haven't seen a burnt orange bathroom for a while) but clean and well maintained. My only real complaint is that in a town where the overnight minimum temperature was in the minus something more than a small fan heater is called for

"perfect for a Grampians getaway"
Perfectly nice Country hotel/motel for a weekend getaway to the grampians. I found the staff to be very helpful and would definitely go there again if staying in the region. Walking distance to the Stawell gift stadium and pub.

"time warp 60s hotel"
The staff were peasant and helpful and location was good. but this motel is stuck in a 60s time warp, complete with orange laminex and exposed brick. it came complete with old fossilized spider in bath room and a nearly empty can of flyspray.

"Good location, quiet and attentive staff"
Although right on the highway, the rooms are set back from the road and were surprisingly quiet. Although the restaurant had closed, staff cheerily prepared some fish and chips (delicious) as there was nothing else open. Would recommend and will return.

"Good basic motel"
Good service on check in. Rooms are an old style but clean. Beds ok. Motel on main highway + near Maccas. Has restaurant on site & had a nice lamb shank. No Foxtel. Good value with basic room rate.

The property is slightly old, so it probably need a touch up soon. Reasonable priced, reasonable room. Met the basics

"Klassiskt motell"
Bra WiFi

"Nuit inconfortable"

"Cold,miserable space"
06/24/15 Kathryn H Bendigo, Australia
Cold, miserable space, lack of hot water for showers, bed rolled to centre. Highway noise constant preventing sleep - what happened to the 90's invention called double glazing to minimise traffic noise? Not worth the $110 tariff charged in late June 2015.

"Short drive from Grampians"

Stayed there for 1 night and everything was running smoothly. Receptionist was very nice and helpful. Room was tidy and comfortable. At winter time the heater warmed up the room quickly so it was pleasant to sleep. Free Wi-Fi was useful :)

"Hidden Gem"

While room décor is old fashioned the Australian menu at restaurant and the most comfortable beds I have ever experienced at a Comfort Inn made this for me a hidden gem. Staff were great-nothing a problem

"Good & not so good"

Driving from Adelaide to Melbourne we searched for a motel with a restaurant attached in Stawell & phoned three motels before we found the Comfort Inn Goldfields & managed to get the last room available which was a family room. Great space for a family of 6, comfortable beds, plenty of kitchen equipment but the room is in need of refurbishment & modernisation & a decent clean up of cobwebs. On a positive note dinner in the restaurant was very good, particularly the scallops & the spatchcock. Plenty of good local wines on the wine list added to our enjoyable experience. Although free wifi was offered we couldn't connect!

Very affordable and easy to find. Incredibly helpful and happy staff. Clean, spacious rooms. Better than anything we found in the park and only a 20 minute drive to Halls Gap. Don't tell anyone about this place I want to keep it a secret.

"So comfy"
02/24/15 LaurenCapper Port Lincoln, Australia
Very friendly staff. Room was clean and the bed was so comfy. On arrival I was advised about the attached restaurant and also given directions to the local pizza, fish & chip and Chinese shops. There was a fair bit of traffic noise (no fault of the motel of course) but once asleep I never heard a thing.

"Golden Gem in the Rough"
01/27/15 RhodyGirl02818 Melbourne, Australia
Family of three overnighting on a Sunday en route to Adelaide. The previous week this motel was full of firefighters fighting a major blaze an hour away. Confusion about our booking found us up graded to a deluxe family unit. The reverse cycle AC main room housed our queen bed, two sofas, TV, a dining table with six chairs, a full sized cooker and fridge, bench workspace, a sink and cupboards and drawers with basic survival cutlery and crockery. Four single beds were in a separate room. A window above the kitchen area looked onto a fenced weed filled embankment, but provided good light and privacy. Goldfields hotel was likely constructed in the mid 1970s: exposed tan brickwork walls and a sunshine yellow bathroom countertop and mosaic floor tiles. The beds were okay. This place needs a full refurbishment. However, small touches, like flowering plants in tubs, outdoor tables and chairs (with ashtrays for smokers) and overall gleaming cleanliness make up for not having the latest decor. Attractive hedge planting gave privacy to a small salt water pool and adjacent barbecue facilities. Comfort Goldfields is on the Western Highway, but in a reduced speed zone, with no traffic lights to cause the dreaded exhaust brakes noise. We hardly noticed the truck noise, but we stayed on a Sunday night, when fewer semi trailers and B-doubles may have been on the road. Service was friendly and excellent. One word of warning: Stawell eats early and there are few options open on Sunday night. Ensure you look for dinner before 8:00 pm, or bring your own food.

"Good Stay for a Family or Group of 4"
01/05/15 Majid M Melbourne, Australia
We stayed here one night on New Year's eve and totally we enjoyed it with the following advantages: - almost clean - quiet - clean pool - nice cosy bar although we have not tried their food - friendly staff disadvantages: - location; if you like to be in Stawell then it is perfect, but we liked to explore The Grampians so it was minimum 30min drive to there, not a biggie but I would prefer to be much closer. Anyway it was New Year's eve for Pete's sake ;-) - some kitchen appliances were not clean - if a two or three couple travel together might be hard as the Family Suite is designed for a Family with 2-3 kids; not a 2-3 couples!! Not a drama for a night though. In summary, worth budget staying if you have something around Stawell or still like to be in town and enjoy The Grampians's marvelous nature. ^_^

Room was perfect for 1 night - 4 single beds in separate bedroom, queen in main room with TV and all kitchen facilities. Room clean and well set up. Even a bath for the kids! Friendly staff with prearranged late check in if necessary.

Wasn't going to bother with a review as I was on a work trip but.... Good things first . Friendly staff , good sized rooms, ample parking. Now the bad ... Cob webs all over ceiling, shower door sticking, noisy air con , air con too small, unable to fill kettle , fridge very noisy woke me up, food not well cooked oily fish, charged for breakfast although I only had a (not well made coffee) ok that's it I'll travel onto Horsham next time .
