The room had an old Victorian feel to it. I wish our view would've been better, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it was no big deal. The hotel was centrally located, so we were able to do a lot of "sight seeing", visit local shops, and even took a carriage ride. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, and kind. We have stayed at the Tremont before and had a great experience but it had been years since we had been there. I booked a suite and were immediately noticed that the bathrooms were dirty. There were hairs in the corners around the bathtub and toilet. The walls in the bathroom looked like they hadn't been wiped down in months (they are the same tile […] as the bathtub walls) and there was a hair stuck to them and spots. That night we were thirsty and there is no mini bar in the room so we called to the front desk and asked for some bottles of water. The man who arrived was very rude and acted as though we had put him out greatly. We had heard that the hotel was known for comfortable beds. Unfortunately, this king size mattress sunk in the middle of the bed. We slept one person on the far right and one person on the far left to avoid rolling into the middle of the bed. Can't say that this was a good night of sleep. At one time, this bed probably was comfortable.

beautiful, comfortable, old building all redone but stilll feels old. Nice people. Write on the Strand so you can walk to dinner or shops. The beach is a 5 minute drive. If your going to Galveston for the beach don't stay here otherwise do.

We only stayed for one night. It was in an awesome location. We were boarding a cruise ship the next day and we were pretty much right across the street from the ship terminal. Love the accomodations at this hotel...bathroomsare superb..lighting fantastic..bed linens heavenly. Only complaint is that the rooftop bar doesnt open until very late in the evening around 5pm daily and food choices in restaurant are not substantial. More like health food. My wife and I came down here for a couple of nights just before I had some meetings in Houston. We had been in Galveston many many times since the late 90's but always stayed on the Seawall. WOW..that is now changed. This was the most comfortable, and enjoyable room I think we have ever stayed in , and we travel A LOT! A beautiful brass king bed, sloping […] walls, a heater for the towels, free bottles of water, and so much more made this room absolutely fantastic. The front desk people and the valet staff were fantastic, always smiling, always ready to help. If you go..ask for room 440, I dont know if all the rooms are the same here, but that one was fabulous. More like a B&B than a hotel room. If there is one downside, its that there is no restaurant on the premises, just kind of a coffee shop. However, within a block or two there are PLENTY of excellent places to eat. I cannot wait to return..this was seriously one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Read more

We go to Galveston often and either stay at Tremont or Galvez. This time of year The Tremont is great...no need for a pool in the winter, close to the strand and restaurants, and can still drive (we prefer to walk) down to the sea wall. The rooms are very clean and they don't get any more comfy than that!

Visited the Tremont as a couple on a weekend get-a-way. The hotel is very beautiful and full of character however if you look closely it needs a good cleaning. We had a standard room that faces into the hotel atrium. The room had plenty of space but was a little dingy. The bathroom countertop had stains, there was grime around the baseboards and we […] even found a half eaten cereal bar in one of the nightstand drawers. Looking from the room window into the atrium the molding over the door was dusty. Not a huge deal, but not the view I wanted either. If you are on the 4th floor ask for a room away from the hallway that leads to the roof bar. We heard drunk people coming down our hallway past midnight. The best part of the room is the towel warmer and the lovely high ceilings and ceiling fans! The staff is exceptionally nice and the hotel location is perfect for the Strand or cruise ships. You will pay to valet, but the valet service is extremely quick. The hotel needs a good cleaning before I would give it 5 stars. Read more

We loved it!, the reson I gave a overall rating of 4 is I was disappointed that we wern't allowed to smoke @ the "open air" roof top bar...seams a little over regulated. Smoking is leagle in Galveston. Thought this mihgt be useful to your smoking customers.

Wonderful, spacious room with all ammenties. The only setback was the showerhead. It was like using a garden hose. Such a simple fix. Just adjacent to the Galveston port and complimentary shuttle is provide. Wonderful bar area.

Great place to unwind. Recently renovated with great care to detail. Bar on roof is fantastic! Very good atmosphere for business meetings to romantic get-a-way. From the minute we drove up-greeted by a very friendly and upbeat Valet attendant--to the desk clerk-pleasant & friendly--to the room maid we met as we stepped off the elevator--all spoke and gave a very warm welcome. The rooms and lobby are very cozy, especially on a cold night. The Star Bucks is a nice touch too. When we got in our room, the window would not lock and it opened onto the roof of an adjacent building. I went to the lobby and they changed our room immediately. We walked two blocks and had a nice dinner on Post Office street. We went to the town square and enjoyed the Christmas lights and music. We had two small things to complain about ---(1) there was not a hand towel bar near the lavatory bowl--had to drip water across floor to the towel bar by the tub or keep the towel laying on the counter.
