Had a very nice stay. Even ate in restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. Convenient walking to many restaurants, the Museum of Natural History, Magee women's hospital and the univ of Pittsburgh.

Hotel was a great location (less than a mile away) to the Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, my daughters wedding place. Hotel was very clean and people were very friendly. Parking is valet parking only, so bring extra small bills for tips.

We were impressed with the quality of service! From the moment we entered the hotel, the staff were smiling, friendly, and kept offering to help us with anything we needed. The room was small, but not cramped, and was decorated in a modern and classy way. I was surprised there was no tub - but the shower was spacious. While the valet parking in the […] attached garage was extremely convenient (especially because we had a lot of luggage), it was expensive. Also, I brought special bedding, and the cleaning service took it all off the bed when they cleaned the room. I had to re-make the bed again, which was inconvenient and annoying. I wish they would have just left it. TIP: Be aware that this hotel is along the MS Marathon route, and a band will set up right across the street and play LOUDLY starting at 7 am. For the price we paid for the hotel, we were not pleased to have our sleep completely disrupted. Overall, though, we had a good experience and I would highly recommend this hotel. Read more

We were pleased with the appearance of the hotel and the cleanliness. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. It's an excellent location if you are doing anything at Pitt or Oakland. It's on busroutes and in walking distance to some lunch and breakfast places.

Stay here with confidence but do not eat here. Employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Rooms are clean. Parking is easy. Great neighborhood with shops and restaurants. Which is good, because the hotel restaurant is terrible.

Hotel location is good - in the Oakland area. We used the public parking 1 block down on Forbes - it is a more reasonable rate. Hotel is very nice and staff is friendly. Close to McGee Women's hospital, UMPC and University of Pittsburgh campus.

Only 1 elevator was working, could hear all the goings on outside the hotel, even though we were on the 9th floor. Bathrooms lack an exhaust fan.

The hotel has modernized recently and has great updated decor with comfortable rooms. The bar staff is friendly and the location is perfect. We were in luck that the students were out on spring break and we had no traffic.

My son and I were visiting Pitt on President's Day-and we decided to come early and relax and go to Carnegie museum. All the people working there were polite and professional-and most of them students! Food in restaurant was good and convenient. Room was clean and fitness room clean with nice equipment. I would definitely stay there again.

I have stayed in this and many other hotels in Pittsburgh, and hands down this is the one I try to choose every time I go. Oakland is a great neighborhood and I think better than downtown in terms of choices for dinner, etc. (unlike Downtown, Oakland places keep late hours for the students). The service in the hotel is the best. I came in on a redeye […] and called ahead to ask about early check in. They made a point of booking me in a room that was unlikely to be used the night before. Their free shuttle will take you anywhere within 3 miles, but if you're transit savvy the hotel is right on a million bus lines that will also speed you around. The shuttle driver is super friendly and experienced. He seems to know where everything is in Pittsburgh. All of their staff jump to help you (eg the car valet carried my suitcase down the stairs for me). Read more

If you are visiting the University of Pittsburgh, this is probably the most convenient place to stay- it is walking distance to campus and the Petersen Events Center, and there are also lots of eateries and bars nearby. My only complaints were that when we arrived on Friday night the hotel restaurant was closed, which we told was because it was not […] "busy enough". It was cold and snowing, and we did not want to go out restaurant hunting, so we ended up ordering food at the bar, which was loud and brightly lit, and more like eating at a diner counter. The room was very nice, although the wooden bedframe stuck out so far into the room that my husband and I repeatedly walked into it, and I left with a huge bruise on my knee. Overall the stay was pleasant, and one of the nicest features of the hotel is that they have complimentary shuttle service anywhere within a 3 mile radius. We were in Pittsburgh to see a concert at the Benedum Center and do some shopping. The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect! . Valet service was quite handy since parking is difficult to find in that section of Pittsburgh. The hotel's shuttle to the surrounding area (3-5 miles from the hotel) is a nice added attrtaction that eliminated the need for parking or a taxi!

The bathroom smelled as though it had been cleaned with a dirty rag, but the rest of the room was clean and comfortable. Paying for parking was a bit of a disappointment as well, although it did state up front that you "could" pay if you wanted to, for the valet. It wasn't made clear though, that there is no street parking nearby as it is all permit […] only parking in the area. If you're headed to Pittsburgh and you don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a hotel, this is the place to go! I think staying in Oakland is way better than staying downtown because you have access to tons of great eateries AND incredible bus service. Plus this hotel offers a free shuttle within 3 miles. Never get a room on the street side. I was on te second floor and could hear conversations people were having at the bus stop. Traffic noise was crazy. I asked if I could change rooms at 4:30 and was told no. Check out at 7:30 was a joke. You can't park your own car. You have to use valet. The line was 20 minutes long. When we checked in on Novmber 9th, we were surprised to get a king bed in our room. We needed, and made reservations, with written confirmation, 2 queen beds. My husband asked the attendant at the front desk about the change. He said that expedia did it--like they always do--and that I must have made the request via expedia. We needed queen beds do […] to a medical disorder with my husband. So, we went to the room and endured--the bed was horrible. Hard as a park bench even with a pad. The second night we did order a roll-away--we asked 4 times for another room--the room we resrved--the one we had written confirmation for. The front desk said this is the room we reseved, and they had no other rooms--the hotel was all sold out. They said there would be an additional fee for the roll away, but my husband told them that we needed the roll away to accomodate his medical condition and we had a reservation for 2 beds in the first place. Rather poorly designed: no elevator at ground level, forcing you to carry suitcases, etc., up a flight of stairs to check-in (there's a lift for wheelchairs). Room was claustrophobic, with minimal free space and no place for sitting with friends. You can do better.

My husband and I were visiting our son at CMU. The hotel is well located and the valet parking makes traveling easy. The front desk clerk was friendly and we did not have to wait very long to get checked in. The room was decorated nicely and had all the amenities needed. The on-site breakfast was convenient and the staff there was quite friendly and […] efficient too. The coffee and tea bar in the lobby was definitely a plus. I also used the fitness center. It was small but sufficient. The equipment was well maintained. I had trouble with my room key so I could not get into the room at first and had to get my key re-set before going back to my room. The same thing happened to my husband's key. There was also an incident with the next door neighbors who were rude and vulgar at 3 AM.
