"Very convenient to convention center"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Friendly, competent staff, beautiful public spaces, great location if you're attending a conference at the Washington Convention Center. Room was a bit dated, had no safe or fridge, merely adequate bathroom.

Downtown DC is awash with culture. The Smithsonian Institution museum complex flanks the National Mall. The Washington Monument bisects the Mall, just south of the White House. Federal agency headquarters house bureaucrats of varying stripes. Moneyed and powerful lobbyists help create (and quash) laws from K Street. Chinatown and the Washington Convention Center lie east of downtown.

"Outdated hotel"
Nice location but the hotel is terribly dated, and it feels like a trip back to the 80s. Most of the rooms have windows to the internal atrium, which makes the rooms dark. Rooms barely updated. Not a hotel where you would want to spend more time than just sleeping. Lovely staff though.
"Westin Washington"
Recently stayed here and could not believe that you cannot get lunch at 11.25am in a 4 star hotel. Staff were ambivalent other than the concierge desk where the two ladies were extremely helpful.
"Westin in Washington DC"
We loved this hotel. The location was great and the hotel was beautiful. The service was exceptional, the doorman, porters, housekeepers were all friendly and helpful. Ava, the concierge was amazing. She helped with reservations, maps and places to see. My kids loved her, she sent books to the room at night and made them feel special. We will definately […] be coming back! Read more

"Maintenance"
The room was okay for the price in size. The bathroom did not have the usual toiletries when we arrived. The fridge in the room was empty. The maids made the room after 2:00PM, so we were in the room when they arrived. In the morning we were not there, they could have made it then. Room service was ok except that we ordered a bottle of wine, they charged […] it but they sent only a glass of wine, the steak ordered was supposed to be medium rare and it came well done. They called to check but I was not going to wait until they made and serve another one. Besides that, all was more or less okay. The concierge was very helpful as well as the front desk and restaurant and bar. Read more

Very clean and great location. Be prepared to pay for everything from parking to coffee.
"Westin Hotel Washington DC"
Fabulous spot and great Hotel experience. The staff was exceptionally helpful and polite. Well worth the extra money to stay at a top Hotel. Staff makes the difference so many times and this time was a home run.
"westin in DC"
everything was excellent except the covers...they were noisy...every time moved or pulled on covers it was like having a rubber sheet over you...but everything else was excellent...many thanks

"Good Stay Bad Customer Service"
Indian lady on the concierge was extremely rude and disinterested in her work.
as much as paid for this room i would have expected a little more convenience i had to go to 3 diffrent rooms before they actually found a vacent one.. knocking on doors at 1 o clock in the morning waking various hotel goers in the middle of the night was not my idea of a convenient stay i enjoy the westin in my home town of atlanta but in DC i have […] alot to complain about ...and then the hotels said that they would compensate me and my mate with breakfest the following morning which did not happen i left paying 156 dollars for the room and 45 dollars for parking this was not my idea of a good trip i would feel better if they comped me a room in my home state of atlanta to make up for it but that has not happend so ... my review stays the same Read more

"Expensive wifi"
Great room and location. But the wifi was like $40 for the week or $12 a day!! In this day and age they shouldn't be charging for wifi. Just a login with a password for guests is necessary. Next time in DC I will be looking for a place with this luxury.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating
Wonderful Hotel and Great Location in a World-Class City!

"Great Location"
Very good hotel for the price, staff were very helpful, great location to explore Washington
"very confortable room"
I enjoyed my stay at the Westin because the hotel is located in an area at walking distance to good eating places. The metro stop is near to the hotel, the room was very clean and confortable.
"Westin DC"
We were disappointed overall with the hotel. The service was of a poor quality. It took forever to respond to a request for toiletries that weren't in the room in the first place. Also, the room had a musty smell. Overall, not very impressed with the hotel-it didn't live up to what I have come to expect of a Westin hotel.
"Westin D.C.-best value in the city"
Great location, easy access to metro and all tourist spots(white house, national mall, fords theatre, etc.), great price for quality of hotel, very accommodating staff, extremely comfortable room.
"Overpriced for what you get"
Rooms are pretty small and they don't allow rollaway beds. For this price, free internet and a free breakfast should definitely be included! Cheaper hotels in the area (Residence Inn being one of them) offer both of these things for free, and the rooms are half the price of the Westin
"Not all that nice for the price"
Many rooms face inward to the lobby and the condition of the rooms is much more on par with a holiday inn.
"Good location just that"
Strange arquitecture, expense internet, depressing breakfast

"Totally comfortable, good experience"
Room was comfortable, quiet, and clean. All staff I met were very friendly. The gym could use a cosmetic upgrade (a new coat of paint in the back room would be welcome), but the equipment was plentiful and in good condition. And really, who chooses a hotel just for the gym? This was a pleasant place to stay.

"The Westin The Worst"
My husband and I have stayed in some of the best hotels and some not so best. My first experience with the Westin was by far the worst. My husband and I arrived around 6pm to check in on Sept. 2, 2011 and everything went well. I got in the room and the whole room smelled of stale smoke. I told the bellhop and he just shrugged his shoulder. I started […] not to tip him but I did anyway. Now for the $40.00 a night to park was outrageous, so my husband decided that he would try to find a park for less. I was exhausted from the ride so after inspecting the shower I filled the tub with hot water and I proceeded to light my incense and just try to relax. Well as my me and husband was trying to get comfortable we heard a knock at the door this is around 1:30am. We opened the door and we where accused of smoking and that they would have to charge us an extra $200.00 well I was not about to let that happen. I stood there and told who ever she was that it was an incense and not cigarette smoke. I could not believe how she stood and argued with me for more than 30 miniutes. I asked to see the policy because it was not on our paperwork (BEWARE: Check the back of your card key). Consequently we where giving a warning and nothing uneventful took place after that until we got the bill. She had charged our room and extra $400.00. Carrie was the only representative who attended to our concerns and waived tthe fee. Please be extremely careful when somene have access to your charGe account. WE WILL NEVER STAY AT A WESTIN AGIN Read more
"Family Nightmare"
Great staff and very clean, after not having power in my own hm for several days, we all were looking forward to some rest and enjoyment of the sights in DC.... our 1st night was great..... I cant say the same for the2nd night we had a rude awaking!!!!! there was a lot of noise in the hall and people slamming of the doors and screaming.... from 1 to […] about 4:45 am I called front desk several time but it took all night to get everyone in control!!!! so much for 5star Hotel.... We did get the parking free as comp for the trouble!! Read more

The hotel was in a great location to get anywhere in the city by walking or taking a cab. The service was great and all of the employees were very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed the room itself very much and had a very comfortable stay. I can't think of anything that really bothered me about the stay at all and it made my vacation very enjoyable.
"Old and Overpriced"
I have stayed in many hotels around DC and this one was by far the worst of them all. The hotel is VERY old, so it is easy to be mislead by the Westin name. This hotel is far from what most people would expect from a Westin. Despite the earlier reviews, I figured it could not be too bad given that its a Westin. I was wrong. This place needs a serious […] update if they want to justify the rates they are charging. Read more
"Excellent hotel"
This hotel had great service! Excellent location, 4 blocks from the White House! Clean, and good price for the quality of the rooms.
"Great Hotel"
Great staff, great location, great room. We were there during the hurricane and it was the perfect hotel for hiding inside from the weather. It was also great for sight seeing on The Mall and getting to the museums. There's a metro stop not too far that takes you right to the Smithsonian area. Great hotel, highly recommended.
"Westin Hotel Washington DC"
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was a little small, but it was nice and clean. I enjoyed my stay and would stay at this hotel again.
