The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable. And the location was great! Close to the DuPont Circle Metro Station (we found out it is easier to use the "Q" street exit/entrance). I would most definitely stay in this hotel again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Washington D.C August 2013"
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and beds very comfortable. Excelent experience. A few small complaints would be an electric outley in the bathroom that did not work, the room refrigerator did not keep items very cold and for whatever reason a lack of thrash receptacles in the room. These were only minor inconveneinces […] but worth mention. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great service, worn around the edges."
Pros: Excellent location close to Metro, super comfortable bed, outgoing staff, bathroom stocked with many large towels (even bath sheets!). Cons: The facility shows it's age: outdated bath tub, nicks and scrapes on moulding/doors/furniture throughout the facility. Overall: A great place to stay if you get a reasonable rate. I would rate this hotel […] at 3.5-4 stars. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I cannot say enough about this Fairfax. GREAT location (two blocks from the DuPont Circle-red line metro stop) and in a safe neighborhood. Bagels, Etc is a block from the hotel where we got amazing breakfast sandwiches every morning. The hotel was so clean, with a beautiful bathroom and a large, clean room. The concierge was very helpful, telling us […] the best route to get to the Nationals Stadium and what were great things to definitely see in city. And the best part is that our nightly rate was cheap!!! Staying somewhere this nice, you would think it was 300-400 a night and we got our room for less than 200/night (stayed four nights). I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to see DC monuments, as long as you don't mind taking the metro a couple of stops. Five stars for sure! We had an excellent stay, supported by helpful and non-intrusive staff. However, it seemed a little cheezy for a luxury hotel to charge $6.95 for 15 minutes used of the internet!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Parking is $40 plus tax per day. Lots of restaurants nearby and easy access to the Metro.Genuine Expedia guest review

Thank you for sharing your enjoyment of our hotel and we hope to see you soon.
"The only nice part is the outside"
The Good: Staff was friendly and unobtrusive, location is lovely and right next to the metro. This, however, does not make up for THE BAD. Like most hotels in DC, the only parking is the hotel valet, which is $40 a night. That's right, you pay nearly 1/3 of your room rate to stash your car, and if you arrive late, it's the only parking option available. […] For reference, other hotels in the area charge $16-20 a night. $40 is just gouging, Also, it costs $12 a day to get on their wireless, which is slow. Also, the rooms are poorly insulated (giant cracks around the doors that let in light and noise from the hall, thin walls, etc.) and kind of ridiculously small. Seriously, ours couldn't even fit a flat screen TV in at the foot of the bed with enough room to walk around, so they stuck it on top of the dresser BESIDE the bed, which made watching TV was nearly impossible without getting a crick in your neck. It was really ridiculous, especially in such an ostensibly nice hotel. For all the marble bath tile and fancy wallpaper, I've had better, more comfortable rooms at highway motels. The bed was also lumpy and far too short (my husband is 6'2" and even with his head bumping the headboard, his feet were hanging off the end by a good 4-5 inches). For reference, we got a standard King on the 7th floor, and it was awful. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Stay somewhere else in Dupont Circle! "Excellent choice for Washington DC vacation"
Great hotel! We were in DC for our anniversary and the hotel was in a perfect location and had great staff. We were able to walk to many shops and the Metro station was only 3 or 4 blocks. Walking distance to the river and downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review

Nice hotel, excellent service, well maintained. Location is ideal. Only complaint is that the pillows were hard, so we did not sleep well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The minus to our stay was at the outset. I had booked what the Fairfax called a Grand Deluxe King room (328 sq ft w/sitting area and coffee table) for the duration of our 5 day stay in DC. Upon arrival, we were escorted to a much smaller room with neither of the advertised amenities (sitting area etc.). The front desk staff gave me double talk about […] website description errors and no satisfaction. It took the concierge (Elizabeth) to make an adjustment (for which we are eternally grateful) to a bigger room (still no table or sitting area). From there, our stay was as good as can be. The point - better check specifics when booking at the Fairfax. What they advertise and what they deliver (in room size/amenities) is often different. Wonderful people (especially Elizabeth at concierge desk). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The moment we stepped from the taxi the staff was their to help us and presented themselves very professionally. The room was spotless and well arranged and the in room service wss enjoyable. "Great location ....close to Metro"
The hotel is lovely and very clean/nice. The staff could not have been more helpful. It is about a block to the Metro but nice walk in great neighborhood full of restaurants, shops, etc. I gave it a four rating only because of the expensive internet. "Not a five star hotle"
The Fairfax in Dupont Circle (Wash D.C.) was advertised as a 5 star hotel. In our opinion, this hotel was a 3 star hotel. Few amenities-no pool-small exercise room. The pluses were the staff was great, location was fantastic-between Georgetown and Downtown D.C. with lots of shopping and restaurants right in the Dupont Circle area. The hotel is very […] clean but the rooms-at least ours-needs updating. The overall size of the room was fine. We paid $135 so the price was not a 5 star hotel price either. I would recommend and when we go back to D.C. I probably would stay there for that price. Tom Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is nice, but many little things were wrong - phone batteries died, the free paper at the door was sometimes there & sometimes not, the door lock didn't always unlock (the cleaning staff had a problem with it too), battery in tv remote died, bar tender told us to have a seat then waited 10 minutes to tell us we could only order at the barGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Fairfax at Embassy Row, Starwood Luxury Collection Many times it is the little details that can influence a person’s impression of a hotel and we do apologize that so many small instances added up during your stay. There was some confusion between what Expedia advertised as available and what rooms the Fairfax actually had. We thought we were getting a suite with two queen beds, but that combination simply did not exist. Initially we were put in a large room with two queen beds. When we asked for the suite we thought we had booked, the hotel responded immediately. […] They gave us a suite with one queen bed and a pull-out bed in the living area. Throughout, they were friendly an accommodating. The hotel itself is in an excellent location, in beautiful condition, and overall a wonderful place to stay. "Fairfax Embassy Row DC"
Everything was clean and the condition of the hotel was great. The room was far too small for three people to stay for three nights and the fact that the internet and business center were so costly was an annoyance since the room itself was pretty expensive.
