"Great choice!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Price and location were right. Grounds and maintainance inside and out were above average....flowers blooming everywhere! Front desk friendly and efficient. Room spacious and well appointed with 2 Q beds and new, big, flat screen TV (room 301). Towels were not lush, but there were 4 of them, so no issues!

"Good mid-price choice"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
This is a good choice if North Vancouver is your destination. Lots of shopping and eating in the market below the hotel, which is also where the parking is located. The more upscale and higher priced rooms get you further out towards the water, which can be worth it in terms of quiet and view.
"2 nights in Vancouver."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Hotel was very clean and new. Hotel is in middle of Chinatown so you won't see many chain restaurants or food other than very traditional Asian.

"Great Location and nice accomodations"
On the smaller side, but comfortable. My room had great views and the location is very central and within walking distance to all places worth visiting.
"Be careful with the phones!!"
I visit Vancouver B.C. about every other month or two. I usually stay with a friend when I come up. But since there were 9 of us from Seattle we had no choice but to get a hotel. I was on search trying to find the best hotel/suite that would best suit our needs. And I came across the Westin Grand with the right price and good location. The only thing […] that caught me off guard was that they charge you for " local calls!!" May I remind you, we're from Seattle. We had no choice but to turn our phones off. And the only way to get a hold of my friends in Vancouver was to call use the hotel phone. My friend tried using their computer down in the lobby and it was asking for a credit card to use its time?!? Really?.. They charge you everything at this hotel, I'm surprise they didn't charge us for towels!.. But thats the down fall about this hotel, is that they charge you for using local calls.. First time I stayed at a Vancouver hotel I stayed at the Marriot PInnacle. They had a complimentary online office and FREE LOCAL CALLS! The next time I use a hotel in Vancouver, I'm going back to the Marriot. Cause they don't charge all that extra fees. It just suit our needs the best. Read more

"Great Hotel, Highly recommend"
Check in was easy, they upgraded us to a suite, which a pleasant surprise. We had drinks at the hotel bar, and the staff was excellent. Very accommodating and friendly. Would stay there again.
"Westin Grand Vancouver"
The hotel is nice but a couple of additional elevators would be nice. The beach party was a little crazy and the guests were not consistent with the hotel.
Great hotel with extremely comfortable beds and rooms. The only little minus ( it is even funny to complain about it... really...) is that one can wait for 15 min for the elevator to actually stop on your floor.... So, if you are in a hurry every second... it might be challenging.
"Wonderful Stay in Vancouver"
We chose the Westin Grand Vancouver for our one night stay after cruising from Seward, Alaska to Vancouver. It couldn't have been any nicer. The location was ideal for walking about Vancouver, the suite was more than we imagined for the price, the people at ground level went above and beyond to accommodate us. We only wish that we would have planned […] a lengthier stay in Vancouver. The city is beautiful, friendly, and the Westin is the place to stay. Read more

Great location. The only thing negitive was there was some defered maintenance.
"Westin Grand Vancouver - Not so Grand"
After driving for 7 hours we were excited to arrive at The Westin Grand Vancouver. We were not so happy that there was absolutely no one at valet parking to welcome us or help unload our suitcases or direct us to check in which is on a different floor. Our room wasn't ready even though it was after check-in time, we were not offered a place to leave […] our bags or even a complimentary drink in the lounge. It was only after I questioned the service around the hotel the room was someone ready just like magic. Housekeeping came extremely late the next day. We were out of the room from 9am until 3pm. Housekeeping came around 4pm while we were relaxing before dinner. And they don't exactly knock before entering, they know AS they are entering. Overall, the room was clean. Nothing wrong with the place. Good location. Got the job done - we had a place to sleep. If you don't mind lack of service, beige walls/carpet/curtains, and hauling your own bags then I'd recommend the hotel. If you like to be greated and charmed - this is not the hotel for you. "Exceptional Room for the Price-Great Location"
Room was very comfortable and quiet, even located next to the elevator. Nice city view. Location was stellar. Easy walk to either Gastown or Yaletown. Can also walk to Granville Island. Will stay here again.

"Westin Grand Vancouver-Great!"
Loved the staff. Loved the room with a great view of the city and a little view of the harbor and mountains. Loved that the room has dishes, microwave, garden tub. Loved the location, near shopping, restaurants, cool neighborhoods like Yaletown. I would stay there again. Parking was pricey but, we loved having a car. It was so easy to get where we need […] to go on foot or by car. Read more
"Westin Grand Vancouver - Great comfortable room."
Fantastic room, very comfortable bed and great views. Just what I needed each evening after spending my daytime in Vancouver taking a course. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.
"The Grand Westin Vancouver"
Staff courtious, helpfull. Hotel is in a good location. Room clean. Hotel well maintained. Arrived at hotel early, were able to get into a room by 11:30a.m.
"Westin Grand Vancouver"
The hotel was nice. Our room was clean except the grout on the tub was a little stained. The bathroom was roomy though, with a seperate shower and tub. Our room was a suite with a comfy king sized bed and a big sitting area. The pool area and workout room were great. There are changing rooms with almost everything you need to prevent having to walk […] through the hotel in your wet swimsuit after a soak in the hot tub. Read more
We stayed at the same hotel 4 yrs ago. I really liked it. But it was very dissapointed this time. The carpet and the wall paint in the hallway looks dirty and old. Looks like they didn't do any upkeep between 4 yrs. The comporter duvet was wrinkle, make you wonder if they ever changed it before you check in.
"The Westin Grand Vancouver"
Great location, very easy to get to from airport by skytrain, spotless room, wonderful bed. The location was perfect for us as we could walk to our concert at GM Place. We hardly knew we were in downtown Vancouver the room was so quiet. We liked the kitchenette, and my husband especially liked the two rather large flatscreen tvs. We would highly recommend […] this hotel. Read more
"Business travel"
Great rate for hotel. Great view from room of downtown. Great service very professional staff. Visting on a business trip and found it a little hard to get out of the down town area. If you love to shop, tis is the place to stay.
"So Relaxing"
The Westin Grand Vancouver is a really great hotel for relaxing and being in close proximity to downtown. The room was very comfortable, and all of the staff we met were very kind. The only drawback for us was that the pool is outdoors and it was too cold outside for us to use it. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
"excellant choice"
excellant

"Terrific Service"
From the moment we checked in our expectations were exceeded - we were upgraded to a nicer room (before they even knew it was our anniversary) and the valet and concierge were incredibly helpful. The location is okay and good for going to some nice restaurants in the area and within walking distance of Robson Street shopping; however, if we were going […] to do it over, we might stay at the Westin in the marina b/c the location is fabulous, right next to Stanley Park. "In Style"
Comfortable and classy, The Westin Grand in Vancouver has everything a traveller needs. The location is central to all the major spots and amenities. The only downside is that it is not right on the harbour but that makes it closer to some great restaurants and shopping spots. Wealso got a very good deal for the price we paid.
"Include Internet"
Everything was outstanding in this hotel. In this era, NOT having free internet in the room is ridiculous. It can't be a bandwidth issue since studies have shown most people don't use it. Since telephone service is not a revenue stream anymore, they're just trying to make money via the internet access. Many of my colleagues will be boycotting these […] hotels that charge for internet. "Difficult Stay"
Our 4 night stay started on a Friday. Our room was an Executive King Suite reserved 5 months prior. Room 3100 was a top floor two room suite - King size bed that shared the bedroom wall with the Service Elevator! Our first afternoon/night - the hotel was "Out of Towels" - there was the usual - "its not us, its our vendor" excuse - but seems no one […] knows how to go purchase towels at a store for their guests. They said they would arrive sometime on Saturday. Which they did - but only two small hand towels - not quite the expected Starwood experience. That first night - all that was heard in the bedroom was the sound of the Service Elevator pulley equipment - sounding like a muffled lawn mower with a distinct clunk when the elevator stopped at each floor. Saturday morning we wanted to move room, but none were available for the whole weekend - so we were kind of stuck. The manager on duty said he sometimes received complaints about the room - and would try to compensate us for the experience. He was "off duty" Sunday & Monday - as were the other Managers that had any authority to do anything about it - Holiday weekend for BC - BC Day. As of Thursday - my "guarantee" of someone contacting me on Tuesday when back holiday has not occurred. The Hotel is decent enough - but the staff is POORLY trained in resolving issues. There are only 2 elevators - so if the hotel is busy - plan on up to 8 minute waits for a car. The only shining star was Jessee in the restaurant. His service was amazing, remembering our names, food choices, and coffee preferences in a sold out 250 room hotel weekend. The management and desk staff should shadow him to learn about hospitality. "Poor service"
When we first entered our room, we noticed a very strong smoke odor in the bathroom of our room, of what was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. When we pointed this out to the hotel staff, they were slow to place us in another room and never apologized for the problem. The room was also much smaller than expected.
"Very nice hotel, good location, very helpful staff"
We were very pleased with our stay. This isn't a cozy romantic getaway - it's a modern business-type hotel that also has a lot of tourists. The staff was very helpful. For example, we arrived at 8am (too early to get our room), but they offered to call us when the room was ready (which was around 11am) - I thought that was very nice to offer the notification, […] even when we told them we weren't in a rush. "Grand Westin Vancover"
The hotel was very nice, the major problem I had was the cost of breakfast $46 and the price of parking $26 a day. I would not stay in this hotel again due to these extra cost.

"Central and value"
I got a great deal on an upgraded room - very comfortable, one of the quietest hotels I've stayed in for a long time. Very small lobby area. Easy walking to many of the neighborhoods I wanted to explore.
"Outstanding Hotel"
Our hotel room was spacious and luxurious. The bed was so comfortable I could have stayed in it all day each day of my visit. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay there again when in Vancouver.
"Great location, service lacking"
I arrived at the hotel early from a cruise. I was impressed with the promptness and professionalism of the staff. The hotel is in a great area and close walking distance to everything we wanted to see (Chinatown, Parks, Shopping, Museums, etc). We arrived at approximately 1:00 pm and check in was not scheduled until 3:00. The receptionist suggested […] we go to lunch and come back in an hour and the room should be ready. We arrived back at 2:05 and were informed it would be another 35 minutes since they just started cleaning the room. We had some friends in the hotel so we took off and came back at 3:00, the room was ready. Wanting to see a movie we left at 3:15 and arrived back around 6:30, we finally called for the luggage to be delivered at 8:00 (the receptionist took the luggage tag at 1:00 to have it delivered to the room). Temperature in the room was never comfortable; it was either too hot or cold even though we never adjusted the thermostat. Water pressure was horrible and the cleaning crew kept flipping the master power switch so nothing in the room would work. I had reviewed all prior comments prior to booking the room. I should have paid more attention to them since it would have save some frustration. When checking out, my balance was 0.00 (remember you have to prepay for the room). Today, a 70.00 charged hit my credit card and I have no clue what it is for. If you are willing to deal with some frustrations, this is the place to stay, location and view. Avoid the restaurants due to price and quality of food. Read more
""FABULOUS'"
The people are so friendly and the room is super clean
"Nice room and friendly staff"
We had a nice stay here prior to boarding a cruise ship heading to Alaska for two weeks. We were able to check in early, Bell staff gave some great suggestions on getting around in the city. Nice grocery store next door where we picked up dinner to take to the room vs. eating out. Would certainly stay there again.
"Good Location"
Vancouver is a great walking town and this hotel is centrally located to Gastown, the shopping on Robson Street and to the great restaurants in Yaletown. The hotel is well maintained and our rate included breakfast which was very good. I'm glad it was included or I don't think we would have eaten there. The quality was very good but the cost at would […] have been too high had we had to pay for it. The room was very nice and roomy with a great view of the harbor. The staff was very helpful and if there is one drawback it is the speed of the elevators. Two elevators for the size of the hotel is not enough. We had to wait a few minutes quite often. Certainly not that big of a drawback. I would recommend the hotel to friends and would stay there again. Read more

"Comfortable Accomodations"
My husband and I spent a night here after a cruise. Room (Corner Balcony Suite)was nicely appointed and very comfortable with compact kitchen, balcony, sitting and sleeping areas. Bathroom was huge. Our room was on a lower level, so the view was not the greatest. Staff very cordial and accomodating. Front desk staff were only able to provide change […] in Canadian bills, so did not work for us as we were leaving the next day and did not want to have a lot of Canadian money left. Read more
"Outstanding Hotel"
I just loved Westin Grand Vancouver. It was great and not to expensive like so many hotels are. I loved our room and the view. The service was outstanding and I never complained. I hope to go back to Westin Grand Vancouver very soon.
"Needs Improvement"
The location was great, and within easy walking distance to downtown, Gastown and Yaletown. The corner room arrangement was nice, as well as the kitchenette. However, the Heavenly bed was not "Heavenly"; the comfort was on top and not underneath ones' body. Also, having stayed five nights, we requested a three hour courtesy check-out; they wanted to […] charge for one and one-half hours of this time. We are still in search of a better bed. Read more
