"nice hotel close to good jazz clubs"
nice hotel, clean, staff was polite. i rated the staff ok only because they forgot to tell me that there is a button next to the entry light switch that needs to be turned on in order for your keurig machine and other electronic outlets on the dresser and desk to work. not a huge deal but i didn't get to make a coffee in the morning before leaving.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ok for the price"
A little noisy. I am not too picky and decided to take my chances after reading the reviews. I ended up in the loud room on a lower floor with the crying girls. I think it would have been a better experience if I was on a higher floor. The room was right over the parking garage entrance and they came and picked up the laundry right outside of my window […] at 6 am and it was very noisy as they chucked the laundry bags into the back of the truck. I would have been extremely irritated by that if I didn't have to get up anyway. On the other hand, it was clean and I did feel safe. The staff was helpful and parking wasn't an issue (a little pricey but easy to find a spot and easily accessible) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"<3 of Japan Town"
Hotel TOMO is very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was awesome with a decent view. The elevators had anime drawings posted on the wall, by people who have stayed there. The restaurant was nice with a good choice of American or traditional Japanese breakfast. Only set back was low on hot water ( I like long hot showers ) and the first […] floor was getting repainted and wallpapered, so a bit of a mess. Otherwise I <3 TOMO Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
front desk service, location, and design were good. But hotel maintenance wasn't so good - room signs were held up with foam adhesive and kept falling off, and towel rack was falling off, too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel if you want to visit Japantown in SF"
This hotel is literary across the street from the Japan town in SF. Multiple Japanese restaurants are in a walking distance from the hotel. There is a Japanese mini-mall accross the street as well. Very simple, but clean and tastefuly hotel overall. The receptionists were kind of indifferent, and I got the feeling they just wanted to get rid of us, […] and do their own thing.Other than that - good spot to have a "Japanese" experience! "Great stay in Japantown"
Hotel is easy walking distance to The FIlmore for concerts, right by the East & West Japantown mall, lots of places nearby to eat. Room had a fridge, hairdryer, coffee maker, safe, iPod/iPhone docking clock. Nice sized room with a comfortable bed. They were in the process of maintenance so keep that in mind. But, overall not really great. We had to have our keys re-coded almost every time we went to our room. Staff was great, though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved this hotel! Great location, very comfortable and clean. Great price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"No parking and the staff was rude."
The employees were rude, the hallways are being remodeled and look like a psych ward with all the writing and scratches on the walls. And there is absolutely no parking. And heaven forbid you ask someone that works there a question because it's a huge deal apparently.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Tomo was fantastic! Greeted by friendly staff immediately as he checked me into one of the 6 best rooms on the property. It is going under renovations so I was a little taken back as I exited the elevator. But I could tell right away that they were just changing the wall paper and really wasn't making that much of a mess. But when I walked into […] my room I 2 greeted by warm sunlight. The room had a nice balcony but plenty of windows. Very clean and sheek. Needs and pillows were very comfortable. Great stay, I will come again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
OK for what it is. Could use some real renovations instead of cosmetic coats of paint.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here for a valentine's getaway and to walk around the city. The hotel was clean and comfortable, staff was helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The anime theme is fun and our room had a window box over looking the street. It's an easy walk to shops, restaurants in Japantown and around that area. Easy to walk to bus stops also, and a very […] safe neighborhood. Would stay here again as it was a great deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A little time in Japantown"
The previous reviews looked good and I liked that previous guests said it was in a safe neighborhood. As a female traveling solo I felt completely safe while at the hotel and while exploring in the neighborhood. The desk staff was extremely helpful and told me where I could park for a less money (saw that on another review) which was across the street, […] the cross the plaza (a city block wide) then cross the street again. Also advised where I could dine on some great sushi. The room was clean, simply and just funky enough with the Anime decor. The bed pillows were great, the bed a little firm for my taste but all else was great and I'd stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We were placed into a room where the bathroom was furnished for handicapped customer without giving us the choice; a fact that we did not appreciate.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Visit to SF Feb 15, 2014"
We got a great upgraded room with the best view on the top floor. The floor seemed unfinished though and there was a annoying noise all night. Other than that it is our second time we stayed here and will again, just not on the top floor. I will let them know of my concernGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great deal, convenient location"
The staff was incredibly accommodating, the room was spotless, the location was convenient, and the price was right. Compared to other 4 star hotels in the area, Hotel Tomo is by far the most reasonably priced. I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Kicky and comfortable"
Fourth time I have stayed at Tomo. Always comfortable and slightly odd, like your really creative but slightly crazy cousin. Neat neat place. Staff is always very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great bargain in quiet area"
Hotel Tomo exceeded my expectations--very low price and very quiet, clean hotel. Parking was very easy. Lots of places to walk to nearby to eat, including a Safeway with a Starbucks a couple blocks away which helped to fill the frig with cold drinks. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. "Been there done that."
All of the employees go out of there way to please you, and see that your needs are satisfied. We could not use the safe in the room. The service person tried to fix the lock, but was not able to do. They immediately brought a new complete safe and installed it. I wish they had more comfortable chairs to relax in. This is my biggest complaint. "In Japantown, very clean"
It was further from USF than we thought and the price was nice except there were high, unexpected charges for almost everything including . We had an end room that was quite cold but we figured out how to increase the heat. Everything was clean and the people were very nice . I would give it 3 stars and once we go used to it , the room was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Next to japan town, close to attractions and conveniant as well. Low price, a bargain in this city. Will be back often.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel with a very convenient location. Muni bus right across the street....close to Fisherman's wharf and the Golden gate bridge. Made exploring the city and various attractions a breeze. The on site restaurant was good, pleasant staff. Definitely would recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very quiet and nice neigborhood"
I stayed this hotel for 7 nights for attending conferences in Moscone Center. It was very convenient to take Bus 2 or Bus 3 to the conference place from the hotel. And there was no homeless people round the hotel so it was very quiet at night. I will choose it next time.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hotel in JapanTown"
Visitig the city to look at some college. We took the bus into the city which was right across the street. Everything is fairly close----Chinatown, Union Square, and even taking the bart. We were right across from the Japan Mall. Many options for restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Weekend in SF"
Spent a weekend in SF and stayed at Hotel Tomo. I lived in the city for years and in coming back for a visit this was the perfect location between downtown and golden gate park. "Pleasant hotel convenient to UCSF Mt. Zion"
Pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms apparently renovated recently, light, well appointed, but electrical upgrading was apparently overlooked. TV, coffeemaker, fridge, lamps and clock connected to extension cords. No convenient outlet at desk-had to crawl under desk. Hotel was quiet first 6 nights. Avoid Saturday night if you want sleep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
great hotel... a bit of a walk from touristy stuff... but quaint neighborhood. superb staff and facility.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I like the hotel very much if the Heat could be better. Nice stuff, the grey hair lady changed the room for us since the first room at first floor is very cold and heat does not work. Technician came down first but could not fix it, and he offered us a small heat, we does not take it. A few minutes late, the lady came and asked if we could like to see […] another room on 6th floor which is not a king size bed room. We took a short look of that 2-full beds room, and checked the heat which is better, we moved to the 2nd room even I am so tired to re-pack, but it is a good service whatever. Convenient location, Bus#7 is just cross the street at the entrance of Japanese Town. The area is very quite and nice. However, I will say the carpet could be updated, but I like the Decoration of the room, simple, bright color. The round table and two chairs inside the room is a very good idea. We could have more space to put our stuff during the 3 days stay and eat light food inside the room, more functional than a sofa and tea table. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Liked the hotel and neighborhood. I was close to the room where the service workers gathered so lots of noise in the hall and there was an adjoining door to the other room that only filtered voices not blocked them. Parking is $33.00 including taxes with no guarantee for a spot. I enjkoyed the use of wood decor in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Not too impressed, just average hotel. Has lower rates but I'd rather stay at Hotel Kabuki nearby. Also was charged an extra $83 dollars when I checked my online banking account. The front desk manager lady fixed it while I checked out though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Affordable and quirky hotel in Japantown"
I tried out this hotel because the photos on hotels.com were intriguing. i loved the idea of a boutique hotel that was anime themed. When I arrived, I thought the hotel was cute and had a modern lobby. The hotel isn't very big and other than their fitness room on the 4th floor there wasn't much else to the hotel. They have an independent bar/restaurant […] on the 2nd floor which was nice, although it did permeate the hallways with the smell of japanese food. I had a nice time here, but with the price only being $10 less (per night) than Hotel Kabuki, I doubt I will book here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay in Japantown"
The location for us was good and the hotel was ok. One night it was a bit noisy because of some mechanical problem or something. We never found out what the loud random banging was. The room itself was good though. I did have an issue with the staff. I asked the front desk where the exercise room was and they said the fourth floor. I immediately went […] up there and could not find the room. There are no signs to guide you and I walked the whole floor looking for it. I went back down to the front desk again and then they gave me the room number. Something they could have told me in the first place! I then went back up and my key wouldn't work. Wonderful. The hotel is located in Japantown within walking distance of good restaurants and a terrific Japanese Spa. The Kabuki Spring and Spa has an array of treatments and is an easy walk from the hotel. The hotel was fine. Just far from the places in SF where you will want to be as a tourist. The staff was very helpful when we needed a car or taxi to get places, but staying here meant spending a lot on taxis to get around. The beds were very firm, not super comfy. I found a deal through hotels.com for $119 per night on a Saturday night. For the price, this hotel was a great deal. The decor is a bit odd, but it didn't bother me.
