One of the most beautiful and spacious hotel rooms that we stayed in. Most hotel rooms in Europe are on the small side but these rooms were larger than any room we had stayed in. If you like to have more room especially if you are a tall person like myself, this is well worth the stay.

Service is always fabulous. Rooms are clean and breakfast is very good. There are also a great breakfast places 2 min. from hotel: Merzenich as well as Cafe Reichart. Air conditioning in rooms is decent and could use an upgrade. It is within a 5 min. walk of lots of great restaurants at the Rhine river.

This is definitely NOT one of the nicest hotels in Germany, as many travel guides will have you believe. The location IS phenomenal, so if that's all you care about then this is the hotel for you! I had many gripes about the property, though. Problem 1: They still use actual keys for the hotel room and they will only give you one key. This was a problem […] for my husband and I as we were not doing the same things while staying there. Problem 2: The room was dirty. Very dirty carpet and dirt smudges on the doors and walls. Problem 3: Cheap furniture and drab room. I expect to have a room that was obviously designed by a professional when staying at a five star hotel. Problem 4: There was no heat available in our room (they wheeled in a space heater for me!) and there was a tacky window air conditioner unit blocking my view. Problem 5: Nearly killed myself twice getting out of the bathtub that was elevated to a dangerous level. There is no shower curtain on the tub, so you completely flood the floor every time you shower, which makes the bathroom even more hazardous. Other than that, the bathroom was clean and spacious. Very good hotel! However, one disappointing aspect: an iron is NOT allowed, on the basis of "safety"...! Shirts may be pressed by hotel at a cost of Euro each...5 pressings & you have a new shirt!

This is a luxury hotel which is excellent in every way. It is very conveniently situated near the main station, and within easy walking distance of all the tourist attractions. Dinner was rather beyond our purse, but the breakfast was excellent and good value. Thoroughly recommended.
