Best Western Premier Queen Hotel - Chester

Loved the hotel. It is 70 yards from train station. Hotel is beautiful. Staff friendly, great advice. Food marvelous. Loved the "Queen's quarters (???)" restaurant. Food excellent, bar and drinks are perfect, manager (R. Merjavy) was so helpful.Room clean, good size. 4 blocks from City Centre and all of Chester. STAY THERE.

Very disorganized. We left our luggage before check in so we could tour Chester. When we checked in we found someone else's luggage in our room. Ours couldn't be located and eventually was found in the adjacent hotel - The King. The experience left us uneasy with our room. Was it really cleaned or just picked up for the previous person? Lighting was […] poor so reading was impossible. But, the room was large as was the bathroom. At checkout, they had our paperwork all wrong and billed us for 2 nights instead of the one night. This was a fantastic place to stay in Chester. Beautiful hotel and grounds (actually true to the photos online, for a change). No A/C, but there's no reason to be in the room for very long in Chester anyway. Great comedy club right down the block, several cool clubs, and the proximity to the train station was literally a stone's throw. After changing to the 'Premier' hotel after initially booking the Westminster opposite, we were expecting a high class, well run hotel with high standards of decor and comfort following the website description and reviews. We were sadly disappointed. The entrance and reception were relatively grand, but the room seemed tired and under equipped and cold. […] There were broken tiles in the bathroom, the radiator valve came off and the lights flickered. The staff seemed undertrained, failing to take a credit card swipe at reception, preventing us from charging items to the room,. The serving staff in the restaurant were not efficient and seemed disinterested. All in all, not representative of the supposed 'Premier' status of the hotel. We were pleased overall with all the hotel facilities as we were staying for a family wedding. The only complaint was that we were told that the car parking facilities at the station car park were not secure .As it was right next door to the hotel carpark we failed to see how the hotel could justify the £15 charge -- the only difference being that there […] was a barrier albeit with a code to open as required. We felt that we were overcharged and also misinformed as we checked the car park next to the station and it was perfectly adequate. I also noted that when i wandered inadvertently into the restaurent side of the hotel ,I overheard a person who had come for a meal ask about car parking facilities.They were told they could park in the Queen's carpark but no mention of payment was made. As we were overnight guests ,I felt the charge was considerably too high. I paid for two cars as my son could not afford to pay as he was a guest at his cousin's wedding. Read more

We stayed in the original old part of the hotel on the third floor. Our room was very comfortable but the bathroom was quite worn and and in need of refurbishment. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

I had a good weekend staying at this hotel. It was very convenient for the station as its right opposite. The staff were lovely at the hotel and the hotel itself was quite grand. However, our room was a bit tired and old looking especially the bathroom. It looked nothing like any of the pictures displayed on the Internet! There was also a mouldy toilet […] roll on the holder which obviously hadn't been seen by housekeeping. We actually didn't spend that much time in our room as we went to a concert at Delamere forest so it wasn't really an issue. We had a couple of drinks at the bar which was very nice and again the staff were really friendly. If you stay at the front of the hotel this can be noisy as our friends found out. We stayed at the back but you still get noise from people coming in at night and slamming doors etc but that's not the hotels fault. The breakfast in the morning was great. We actually thought we were having a continental breakfast as it said on our booking form 'breakfast buffet' so we didn't expect a full breakfast but the choice was fabulous. I would stay at this hotel again despite the tiredness of the room due to the convenience of the station for getting to Delamere. Read more

The hotel was too large to offer personal service. The labrinth of function rooms and ground floor corridors is confusing, It can host three separate wedding receptions, and during my stay there it did so. On the positive side, it has full conference facilities which served the purpose for the four nights I had to spend there.

This was a really good stay for us - reception service and staff at the hotel were excellent, and the location is fantastic. We did find a Cadbury's chocolate button under the telephone table but apart from that the room was excellent value for money. We stayed in a standard twin room - facilities were good and well maintained.

All staff extremely helpfull, attended 3 big functions over December (xmas party, wedding and new years eve) all were extremely well organised, the food was good and served hot. Reception staff were welcoming and friendly as were bar and restuarant staff. The banqueting staff deserve a special mention particularly the banqueting manager.

Located very comveniently for all amentiies especially the station and a short walk into the city centre. We stayed in the King Quarters (a new hotel building attached to the old without having to go outside). These rooms are superbly comfortable with de luxe bathrooms and there is a comfortable breakfast room downstairs. Might be lacking character […] from the outside but great inside. Hotel room poorly maintained and not properly cleaned in the block we stayed in (apparently there is an 'newer & better' block called the Kings at Queens, but we never got to see it. Never had a meal in the hotel - so can't comment on food etc Location is excellent - next to rail station, short walk to canal, pubs and restaurants. Further shortwalk […] into Chester. I was very impressed with this hotel... when we arrived, it seemed as though perhaps they couldn't find our booking, and we suspect that perhaps they upgraded us to a nicer room because of this, and if that was the case, they didn't tell us about it... but I have no complaints... the room was gorgeous! and we were thankful that after a 4-hour drive […] from London that there wasn't some mix-up with the booking! This hotel happened to be the one featured in Coronation Street for Mollie & Kevin's dirty weekend! Nice hotel, reasonable service and very good value for money. Pleasantly surprised considering it was not expensive at all. Very comfortable room and bathroom. Convenient for the station and city centre. Good choice of breakfast although the room was […] far too hot,as were most public areas in the hotel. If you use the car park, make sure you note the "goodbye" sign before you get to the sign by the gates - this is the one to enter the code in on exit - by the lion statue. It was not obvious at all and I drove straight past, up to the gates and had to ring reception. The code they give you expires within an hr and a half although they didn't tell us this so another had to be obtained. Unfortunately, there was a party one night which meant a lot of noise until 1am although that is a risk you take when choosing a hotel over a guest house. When we asked what time it would finish and that it seemed really loud,they said they would turn the music down although this didn't seem to happen. Had a meal one evening at the hotel. Very nice food although service seemed a little slow considering not very busy. Overall, a pleasant stay. Read more

This hotel is classed as 4 star. While the older part has character and some charm in the middle of December it also felt tired and dated. Our room had little heat from the radiator; and the bathroom no heat (heated towel rail not working). It took 3 calls to get a portable heater delived and the radiator was only fixed on day 2. The bathroom towel […] rail was never fixed (same problem in many rooms). Also a number of Christmas functions were taking place. This led to the bar running out of glasses and a number of drinks.
