"Great location but mall below hotel (and surrounding malls) under renovation"

Upon arrival at the hotel I noticed the extensive renovations going on around the lower floors of the hotel. Probably the reason I got a fairly good rate. Was told those floors are being turned into a new shopping mall. Wary of construction noise, I asked specifically if my room would be affected by the construction noise and I was told no. I got a room on the 8th Floor. Turns out the next day, construction noise started at 9am and went on till after 10pm, albeit at a lower noise level, barely bearable. The following day however, from 9am onwards the noise became onbearable and I asked to be moved to another room sans noise. This time I got a similar but peaceful room on the 26th floor. If you do decide to book this hotel in the next few months, be wary if you get checked into a room on the lower floors - not just for the construction noise. The one across from my room on the 8th floor had workmen coming and going till late at night, apparently to turn that room into a temporary hair salon.

This hotel was great. A little bit too pricey on the internet charge. Should be free for the price you pay for the stay. Nevertheless, this was a great stay and would recommend it to others.

I booked the hotel because of its location and price level. Prior to my visit, I read from the review that the hotel is currently under extensive renovation which didn't bother us as we would be out most of the time. Overall the hotel was acceptable but TWO incidents which made me thought that I should have spent a little more to choose somewhere else. We checked in at 1:30pm but the room was not available till 2:30pm. Also the second day the room was not cleaned at 6pm which caused nuisances as we were expecting to use a clean bath to get freshened up for a dinner appointment. It was not acceptable at all.

Excellent hotel; really friendly and helpful staff. Location is just about perfect for exploring Singapore - right on Orchard Road and only a short walk to MTR station. Bus stop right opposite. Only niggle was majot construction work going on on ground floor to create new luxury shopping mall. Didn't affect us as we were up on 12th floor but I heard another guest who was on a lower floor demanding to be moved because of early morning noise.

The hotel is located in the heart of Orchard Road and the service, restaurants and rooms are outstanding. Highly recommended to those who want to be close to one of the best shopping districts in the world. Also, one block away from the subway station which is a great way to get into town from Changi airport.

"Great for longer stay"

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks on the Club Meritus level. Very nice and comfortable for a longer stay. However, there was no clock in the room, so I had to resort to my phone constantly. There are extra amenities available to people staying on the Club level, but only if you upgrade to them. Just staying there does not get them. The staff is very friendly and courteous, from the front desk, to housekeeping, to the doormen who remember you every morning and evening. Highly recommended.

Erg goed en schoon hotel bij binnenkomst word alles gedaan voor je (zonder fooi); lift word gehaald; deuren geopend; goedendag gewenst (iets teveel maar nooit gek he?) ik zou er de volgende keer voor 100% weer gaan verblijven!
