"The best place to stay in Los Ángeles."
We'd had the best time enjoying in Los Angeles because everything is nearest at the hotel. We're walking, shopping, eating and doing everything. The hotel has an excelent service.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Get what you pay for"
If you are over 4 feet don't plan on showering. Dust everywhere and mold on the floor in the bathroom. Guy at the desk was nice but there was a huge line to get to him. Bed was horrible. No air conditioning. I've never smelled so much deodorizer in my life. Woke up ASAP to hit the road after this stay!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles Dear Kate, thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay at the Mayfair. The Mayfair has a new management company now operating the building and we are in the process of deep cleaning every room. We have recently upgraded the towels, sheets and amenities. The hotel will undergo a complete renovation early next year. Thank you again for your comments

"Rustic hotel with less than impressive amenities."
Although the hotel has the convenience of being in the heart of downtown LA close to many eateries, the Staples Center and shopping outlets, the hotel staff and cleanliness of facilities was sub par at best. The lobby and bar and well maintained and contain a beautiful look to them, the rooms themselves are dingy and not well maintained. No to mention, […] that the elevators are so old and run down I feared I was going to be placed in a Tower of Terror situation. The only real upside to this hotel would have been the garage parking and security, but they charged a $12 a night fee for the parking on top of all the other charges, quite ridiculous. If the hotel staff would have been a little nicer I might have considered over looking a few things, but alas they were not and overall my stay was disappointing. Response by The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles Dear Krystal, thank you for sharing your comments. First, let me apologize if the level of service provided by our staff fell below your expectations. The Mayfair is a great value alternative to Downtown LA. The new management and owner of the Mayfair are very committed to bring the Mayfair back to its past grandeur. We currently redone the restaurant for both breakfast and bar menu and also the amenities in the room and all linens. The hotel charges $12/night for parking which is very competitive in the area and it includes 24 hour security and in/out privileges.Thank you again for your comments. Sincerely, Ira

"Close to subway, staff with attitude."
I called a day before and mentioned that I was attending a music festival at noon the same day. They told me that unfortunately they could not guarantee an early check in and to call back on the morning of for more information. Next day was told that no one would be checking in to their hotel before 3PM. Not a huge deal but a bit disappointing. After […] the first day we requested more towels, as we had used the two that were initially provided to us. The woman working at the front desk gave us a lot of attitude, considering we were guests and customers and should never be treated in such a fashion. I was told that more towels would be delivered momentarily after we return to our room. After waiting patiently for about a half-hour or so, I called the front desk and was informed that if we needed to get more towels we would have to go back down to the lobby to get them, as their staff was too busy at the time. Once going down to the lobby to retrieve them, we had gotten even more attitude and decided to give up at that point. Guess we'll just hang ours up to dry! Parking was $12.50 a day even though I was a guest and customer, which I thought was a bit odd, but understandable I suppose. TV was an old projection type, not LCD or flat screen. All controls had been locked out so I could not hook up my laptop to it. Not too many channels. 20-30? On the plus side, the room was quite nice, for the price. It was cleaned up before we had gotten in and had no major flaw Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles Dear Mike, thank you for taking the time to share your recent stay at the Mayfair. First let me apologize for the poor service you received at the Front desk. There is no excuse for that and it will be addressed. Also, regarding about your early check in request, we were sold out the night before and it does takes us a while to get the rooms ready. Though the hotel charges $12/night for parking which is very competitive in the area, it includes 24 hour security and in/out privileges. The Mayfair is a great value and we continue to improve our offerings. Thank you again for your comments.

"Good place at Downtown LA."
We had no problem with the hotel. Its location is good. But, while getting around at late we felt a bit unsafe. Nevertheless, we had no problem. Apart from some loudly speaking neighbors, we had no problem about our room.Genuine Expedia guest review

Response by The Historic Mayfair Hotel Los Angeles Dear Melvin, thank you for your comments. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. You are right, the transportation is very close to the hotel and easy to navigate. Thank you again and we look forward to your next visit
The staff was courteous, but gave misinformation and didn't follow through with extra towels and pillows as promised when requested. When checking out, i was billed $48 dollars ($12 per night for 2 nights for 2 vehicles). Was told to park in garage and bring the ticket back to be validated. Doesn't that mean it'll be free if staying at the hotel? The […] room was huge and the closet was bigger than the bathroom, which you had to be a contortionist to shut the door. I think it's call the "Historic" Mayfair because they don't want to upgrade the bathrooms as the fixtures were worn out and the water barely came out of the shower. The beds were very soft and the TV in our room needed to be upgraded as the picture was terrible. Being a 23-year retired Air Force veteran, I've slept in worse conditions. My only challenge staying at The Historic Mayfair is that I had to pay for it! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room looked nothing like the pictures. My girlfriend and I were so disappointed that by the difference. The rates are fairly cheap so I guess what you spend is what you get, but using pictures of fancy rooms to lure people in is just not right.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I expected"
I traveled to L.A. for a business trip and was looking for an affordable room. I was surprised by the deal, pictures looked decent and it was close to downtown. Parking is $12/day extra, an unanticipated expense. I booked the twin euro room. It was poorly painted in orange to bring a contemporary feel. The room is quite small with outdated furniture […] and electronics. The bathroom is Tiny! The water pressure of the showerhead was poor. The water temperature was hard to gauge. I hate to admit that I saw a cockroach in the bathroom as well. The neighborhood was less than glamorous, comprised of dollar/discount stores catering to the working class. I ate at the breakfast buffet that is advertised and it was terrible!! They offered pancakes, make-it-yourself waffles, cardboard bacon and mushy sausage. After a few bites, i almost asked for a refund but made the most of what i had. The only convenience of this hotel was the proximityto the freeway. I traveled often during the trip and the freeways were within blocks. I honestly would not recommend this hotel. Spend some extra money and be comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay! You get what you pay for..."

The stay itself went very well. We had reserved the hotel for Anime Expo, it is a nice 20min walk from the convention center and our second stay at this hotel for the same event. It is decently priced. though our last stay was a lot more comfortable, as this time we ended up in a corner room and the shower was awkwardly built. However, I would recommend […] this hotel if you are just looking for a place to crash, the room service is always very pleasant and the people are very nice, great customer service from both times i've been there. There is hotel parking available though it doesn't come included in the hotel price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Bathroom was way too small. The carpet felt wet, dirty, & sticky. Everything was outdated. The cooling unit didnt work & was leaking. They charge you 12$ to park at the hotel even if you are a guest. "Disappointing, Misleading Experience"
I booked this hotel for my wife and her sisters late at night, it caught my attention with the $75 a night deal and 1 room left message. I quickly booked it to then find out I had actually paid more like $130 for the night. A room with two double beds actually charges 20 dollars a guest if more than two people are staying in the room... which I find […] excessive. As other reviews mention, the hotel is old, A/C unit spray painted black.. very bad experience and not worth the price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"NO water pressure! Smallest room EVER!"
I was very impressed with the lobby and the nice man that checked us in and the excellent breakfast that was offered for $12.95 but well worth every penny. Our waitress was very kind and pleasant as well. As for the room, it's the smallest room I have ever seen, along with the bathroom no bigger than an airplane bathroom. The water pressure is HORRIBLE […] and there are water stains on the ceiling, I felt like water was going to drop on me at any second. In addition the $12 a day parking fee is a joke. Our room was on the 6th floor and there was no elevator. We had to carry our luggage up all those flights of stairs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't Be Decieved"
The pictures of the rooms and hotel do not depict what I saw there. My room was almost triangle shaped and thrown into the corner of one of the top floors. Very small and looked nothing like the picture. Our shower was not meant to stand it I guess because it has a weird seat built into the tub that leaves no room to stand. The water pressure was ridiculous […] and we had no hot water in our room. Or should I say only freezing cold or scalding hot water. Every time I attempted to contact the front desk, the phone would ring endlessly with no reply. The walls are very thin, we could hear the housekeepers chit chatting the the hallway all morning. The bed was very hard. And they only give you sheets, you have to ask for blankets. They also charge you to park at their hotel! 12$ a night! So add that on to your room price. The only good thing I can say about this hotel is its location. It was nice to stay in downtown and not pay an arm and a leg. We were there 2 nights. "It's Actually Pretty Nice and Affordable!"
I was scared at first because many of the reviews about this hotel were not that great; BUT to my surprise I had a fantastic time! It is very affordable compared to other hotels in downtown. The amenities in the hotel were very basic but good, the cleanliness of our room was great, it smelled very clean! The hallways are not bad like other people mention, […] I was on the 11th floor and they were decent not a big deal. Our room was pretty small but it didn't really matter because we literally only used it to sleep in! Shower and toilet were good I Honestly can say I did not find anything wrong with this hotel even the AC worked perfectly fine. I give it a 4 out of 5 :) Would definitely consider staying here next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near downtown LA"
The hotel is equidistant between 7th street Metro and MacArthur Park station, so not too bad if you don't have a car and don't have a lot of luggage. The hotel seems grand from the foyer, but once you get up to the room you know the hotel's seen better days. The elevators gurgle, and the carpet seems like the type of hotel carpet my mom was talking […] about not walking barefoot on. The room did seem clean though. The staff was very professional and friendly. The hotel is also under new ownership, so things may improve in the future. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It was easy to find, the area is old but it's part of the charm. Was easy to park, check in and find the room. This is an older hotel"historic" so you will appreciate that it is well kept and clean. The photos provided on their sight and on this website were not the same as the rooms provided. Cleanliness was decent but the normal queen bedrooms and king rooms do not look like anything the pictures demonstrate. The lobby area was very beautiful and the overall service was excellent but even the suite has very old furniture and absolutely NO romantic […] atmosphere. "Worst Hotel Stay ever!"
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at the hotel at around 10 pm so we waited 40 mins for the concierge to find an available room. He was rude and did not know how to speak English so it was very difficult to communicate. We had asked to pay for a room with a fridge but they told us they wouldn’t be able to get a fridge in our room until the morning. […] We left the next morning. I honestly don’t think any rooms have refrigerators. The hotel rooms are extremely run down and small. There are almost no plug outlets so I'd suggest bringing an extension cord. The bathroom fits half of a person. You have to walk in all the way to close the door. The bathtub is half the size of a normal bathtub. There is no room to move around. The showerhead is placed extremely low. I had to squat and bend my knees the entire time I was in the showers. The toilets are the ones you see in commercial restrooms. The sound of the flush is extremely loud. The beds are so old and squeaky. Every time I shifted, I would make a 'clunk-clunk' sound so I had the worst time sleeping trying not to move. Also, there was not a comforter provided for each bed. So even if the old air conditioner was off, it was a bit chilly. Do not use the coffee machine. I was surprised there even was one but when we had the machine running we saw disgusting things coming out of it. I do not recommend staying at this hotel. I'd suggest driving 15-20 more minutes away from downtown for a better priced quality hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I came here for several nights with a few buddies of mine and right from the start hotel service was not very accommodating. They would only take cash for deposits and their ATM machine was down so I had to bring my friend along with me just to check in to the darn place! Wifi was good when it worked but our room was very small and the beds were too. […] There is no shuttle service so we would have to walk more than half a mile to get to the inner city through a not so friendly looking neighborhood.
