"Great value for the money"
I enjoyed my stay at the Historic Mayfair. It has been nicely maintained. It enjoys an excellent location to downtown, the equal of the Bonaventure at much less cost, and with lots easier access to parking. The Staff was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good. I highly recommend this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Won't stay there again"
This was the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed at. Hasn't been updated since McKinley was President. 3 foot tub, not 5 foot. Torn curtains. Hot water did not even come out of the faucet. Only there for one night - ne night too many. Get to work Mayfair!! Lobby was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed at several Hotels while In LA. The Historic Mayfair Hotel was the best overall. . The room was clean and nice. The breakfast was great, everything was fresh and at a very good price. I will stay again next time I am in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is tiny and microwave doesn't even work. Sucks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Poor experience staying at Mayfair"
We had very bad experience staying at this hotel. Room was very small, the bath room was even smaller. The bathroom was the basically the size of a stall at a public restroom. It was extremely difficult to get into the bathroom and get out through the narrow doorway. There was no exhaust fan in the bath room. The exhaust vent was very dirty, hadn't […] been cleaned for years. The window curtain were dirty, the blanket on the bed appeared very old and may not have been cleaned either. The decoration of the room was poorly done. The only positive part of the hotel is the lobby-extremely fancy and large. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Looks good only in internet"
Location is fine and public transportation like buses stops in front of the hotel. They have reasonable choices for light breakfast. Lobby is decent BUT the SLEEPING ROOM WAS FILTHY YOU DON'T WANT TO STEP ON THE CARPET WITH BAREFOOT. Small bathroom and dark hallway. Hotel could be nice if properly maintained and taken cared.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great value for money"
Me and my friends had been travelling for some time and needed somewhere cheap to lay our heads in Los Angeles and we found the historic Mayfair. Couldn't of asked for anything better, rooms were clean and modern and a good size, the staff were very helpful and friendly and the location is brilliant, a short walk to the metro. The surrounding neighbourhood […] seemed a bit sketchy at times but always felt safe. Great for the price! Would defiantly recommend! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice location! You can walk to Downtown LA. Service was good and customer services was good as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I went to visit and decided to stay there because we wanted to go to the clubs at night. The hotel room was small our room was next to the street so the cars woke me up early morning. It was creepy looked haunted but my husband loved it! Overall okay if you want to save money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are NOT like the picture"
When booking this hotel, the advertisement displayed that a QUEEN and or KING sized bed would be available, however when I got to my room, it was was A LOT tinier than I thought and the bed was a full size. I asked for a bigger room from the lobby and they were really nice, even saying my new room would be bigger, however the size was just barely bigger […] and my bed was STILL a FULL. I know I get what I pay for, but the pictures of the rooms are misleading. very misleading. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"mayfair a disappointment"
The other reviews are right rooms not as in photo ours was 8 by 10 small very tiny bathroom 14.00 parking not bad per day as la goes. A/C don't work well must leave running. Next time I'll stay somewhere else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Called the hotel about 7 times before check in and it just rung, no answer whats so ever. Room was dusty. Bathroom looked gross. I do not recommend. Not worth the cost.Genuine Expedia guest review
Lobby is nice, elevator makes a lot of noise when in use, wall paper in hallways needs to be reapplied, rooms are small, restroom is smaller, there are lots of areasof the room that hhaven't been cleaned in a long time, $15 dollar parking fee, beds didnt even had comforters, when I asked for extra blankets I was told there was none!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Too much money For quality"
Photos online are deceiving. You pay too much for what you get. Neighborhood is sketchy. Parking is $14. Hotel is pretty rundown. The carpets in the room are very old smelly and coming apart. For the amount of money paid for the hotel you would think they would remodel. The style is from the 90s or 80s. I do not recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to crash"
Beautiful lobby, wonderful, quick service by the hotel staff. Not a penthouse suite, but very good place if you just want to look for a place to crash.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but not clean"
The location was great- the view was amazing of downtown. The room was dirty, a ball of hair in the window track, the refrigerator and the TV were not working. The bathroom is extremely small, could barely shut the door- extremely tight.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Old, outdated, and dirty"
I initially booked this hotel because it looked close to Cedars- Sinai where I had an appointment, it's not. It also looked like it had been renovated, it hasn't. The pictures totally don't do justice to how old, outdated, and disgusting this hotel was. There were bugs in my room and when I asked the front desk if I could move rooms (not get my money […] back, just move rooms) they said no. The AC started spewing out steam. There was a hair clog in the sink (and short curly ones on the counter...ICK!) They put a security deposit of $50 bucks on my card which hasn't come off yet either. Overall I was totally grossed out and happy as a clam to get back home. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Outdated unsanitary MESS!!!"
Do NOT Stay here!! Upon arrival the very rude person checking me should have been my first clue. He barely made eye contact and told me my room was cancelled without reason. I received no phone calls or emails, they just cancelled it. He never apologized or anything. Once that was cleared up, and I went to my room, it was disgusting!!! First off the […] bathroom is pretty much the size of an airplane bathroom, you literally have to go all the way in (practically into the bath tub) to shut the door. And btw, I am only 115lb, so a bigger person would struggle for sure. The roof in the bathroom looked as though there were leaks before and they did a horrible job patching them up. The air conditioner was making a funny noise so I had to call the front desk, the maintenance man (only nice thing about this hotel) came up right away and he found trash stuck inside the unit was the cause. He left, 10 min later I had to call him back because the fridge was broken. This was a bummer since I brought food and water for the weekend :( they wouldn't replace it or move me to a better room. After he left, I discovered the TV didn't work either. The room was very old and seemed dirty. The area was shady too and I did not feel safe. I would NEVER stay in this hotel EVER again Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Delightful room in historic hotel"
The Mayfair still holds the charm of a quality hotel from the middle of the last century. Our room on the top floor was large with a great view. There were a few minor maintenance issues, like a broken curtain, but nothing serious. The staff was wonderfully helpful, especially Allen at the front desk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is good the biggest thing to think about it is the fact that the hotel is downtown l.a. if its good for your visit purpose so it's greatGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK but Historically run down"
The building has a cool Historic feel. The room is run down. The walls and carpet were stained and scratched. The dressers, table & tv hutch were very scuffed up and old. One of the double beds sheet was ripped in the pocket seems. Bathroom sink would not drain. The A/C unit was old and did not work good at all. The neighborhood looked sketchy but didn't […] stop us from taking a walk about toward McArthur Park with our boys and I'll admit it was a little intemidating but enlightening all in the same. There is a 7Eleven right next to the hotel. The in & out parking access was convenient. Stayed the night to attend a concert at Dodger Stadium and the freeway access and hotel location was also convenient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I've never stayed in a hotel room so small and cramped. The bathroom was so tiny, that one person barely fit in there. I had to squeeze between the wall and the toilet to get out of the bathroom. The toilet was a public style toilet. The kind you have to put your foot on the lever to flush. It was RIDICULOUS!!! The lobby and exterior of the hotel was […] nice, but I'll never stay there again nor recommend it to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"You be the Judge"
My trip to Los Angeles was short I arrived in to LA around 7:30 PM and checked into the Mayfair around 9:45PM. When I approached to the front desk I stood there for approximately 5 mins while the 2 male clerks discussed the fact that one of the draws would not balance the other was worried that he would get in trouble by "HER" evidently "SHE" yells […] alot. I finally get checked in. I make it to the 11th floor I get in and I flop onto the bed. I dozed off for 30 mins When I woke up I noticed a sour smell in the air. I had a couple of bottles of water in my bag and the room had an apt. size fridge. I opened the door and the smell was so foul. The fridge was plugged in but was not working. 11:30pm I called the front desk but couldn't reach anyone. I then called Hotels.com the young lady was able to reach someone they wanted to move me into another room downside the room was not fully cleaned and had a twin Iam 6' 4 not really an option. "Not a good place to stay."
I don't recommend this hotel the front desk is rude and not helpful at all. And they charge my card twice and didn't even tell me. And if I would have said something they wouldn't have said anything. And so not clean and is very old and the rooms a super Small. Didn't like it at allGenuine Expedia guest review
"Get what you pay for!"
We went with a group of 16, and all I can say is you get what you pay for! The rooms were very little, and the air con had to be left on high all the time to get to a comfortable temperature. However, having stayed in many hotels around the world, I would say it was average for what we paid and the location we were in. There were some complications […] with our breakfasts that we had paid for through a third party when booking the hotel. It's quite overpriced, but was good and well made. The staff, overall, seemed overworked and understaffed, but I could tell tried to do their best and care for the guests. Mostly you felt in their way though, like they were worn down Moms and you were just another kid asking for something! I would go again, it was near our destination and parking was great to have on site (although it does cost $14 a night, which shouldn't surprise anyone considering you're in LA). If you aren't going to be spending a lot of time in your room and just need a good place to land, this is a great choice! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the mattresses were like sleeping on rocks; but the freezer did freeze the items placed there. the bathroom was very small but the water pressure of the shower was satisfying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Stayed for Hard Summer"
Stayed here with friends for Hard Summer. Was a decent place to crash and that's about it. Surrounding area may be "scary" if you aren't used to LA but I did not feel in danger at all as expressed in some of the other reviews. Room was tiny and run down but pretty clean. Perfect for my situation but definitely wouldn't stay here if I was looking for […] a luxury place with amenities. Overall I was happy with my stay Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautiful Historic Hotel..but it is Historic..."
The rooms looked nothing like the website. It was creepy and reminded us of a scary movie at first, but we only slept in the room so it was okay but wish the room looked like it did online. Also would be nice to have carpet in the rooms, but I also could have been in a room not yet updated. The view of downtown is spectacular, that was my favorite part. "vacation in L.A"
The hotel is old and you can see the repairs throughout the building. There is patches in the walls, musty smell in the hallways, small bathroom, old parking lot and stained furniture. All of this was a small price to pay to be conveniently located in the center of all of the Los Angeles attractions. The parking lot is secured and cost $14 a night the […] staff is friendly and access to the hotel is easy. Expedia will not mention that you have to pay for parking so please be aware. The beds are a little stiff but the pillows are nice and comfy my whole family slept great. Clean beds and bathroom despite the rest of the room not looking clean but that's because it's an old building and sometimes no matter how hard you try and old structure will still look old. Great Price and great experience with my family of four overall. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great service. But don't believe the pictures."
Me and a friend decided to get a hotel room due to the fact we didn't wanna drink and drive our way back home from the staples center that was super close. Taxi close not walk close. Walked into the lobby. Very fancy. Lovely. Excited that I decided to pay 20 dollars more for a double room and they looked oh so nice in the pictures. Got onto our floor. […] Smelled lovely. I'm a hairstlyist and it smelt like herbal eassence shampoo. Walk Into our room... And hmmm... Looks nothing like the picture. But when I walked in I just said to myself. "I get what I paid for" oh well. Looked promising but not complaining too much. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for the price"
This hotel is satisfactory for the price and the star rating. It's definitely old. The parking garage doesn't have an elevator, so if you park in the top you have to carry your bags down stairs. The lobby is large but doesn't have a bar. Not a problem for some people though. The room we got was a good size. The beds were tough though and the bathrooms […] were in desparate need of renovation. Check in and check out we're easy though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The location of the hotel was nice since in downtown. Yes parking was expensive but my car was located in a safe spot. The room was clean with no disappointments. the staff were nice and quick. Over all it gave us a great view of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review
""Good Location/Dated Hotel"
"I did not enjoy my stay at the Mayfair Hotel in Los Angeles. The lobby area will lead you to believe that the room will be okay. However, I found the room to be very dated. I will not recommend this Hotel to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very old and outdated"
We literally had to throw our shoulder into the door to open it. It felt very outdated and dirty. The bathroom door had a punch hole in it. Room 808. It just felt very uncomfortable. The staff however was very helpful and friendly. We needed a cab and the front desk staff was very helpful and called one for us.Genuine Expedia guest review
Worst hotel ever. I had no cold water and they would not refund me. The hotel looks room was small and smelled I would never stay here or suggest anyone to stay here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for"
The hotel is in very poor conditions. Very old, but that is not bad. The cleaningness of the hotel was not done properly. The staff was nice. Parking for the entire day is also charged at $14 dollars the night. Breakfast in not complementary. It's $12 per person.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One night in LA"
We needed to stay only one night in LA. The hotel rates were tempting, and it offered a good breakfast. But it wouldn't be a good option for a longer stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"For the price, it's a great stay."
Was there for a 2 night stay on business. Very centrally located. Great hotel if you don't mind that it's not going to be modern. Could use a little up-dating, however I'm not fussy.Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff was incredibly rude, both the night shift and AM shift. The carpet in the room was completely nasty, with stains everywhere. The bathroom was so small that you had to get on top of the toilet to close the door. Also, bathroom floor and tub was incredibly dirty.Genuine Expedia guest review
