"Delightful room in historic hotel"
The Mayfair still holds the charm of a quality hotel from the middle of the last century. Our room on the top floor was large with a great view. There were a few minor maintenance issues, like a broken curtain, but nothing serious. The staff was wonderfully helpful, especially Allen at the front desk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel is good the biggest thing to think about it is the fact that the hotel is downtown l.a. if its good for your visit purpose so it's greatGenuine Expedia guest review
"OK but Historically run down"
The building has a cool Historic feel. The room is run down. The walls and carpet were stained and scratched. The dressers, table & tv hutch were very scuffed up and old. One of the double beds sheet was ripped in the pocket seems. Bathroom sink would not drain. The A/C unit was old and did not work good at all. The neighborhood looked sketchy but didn't […] stop us from taking a walk about toward McArthur Park with our boys and I'll admit it was a little intemidating but enlightening all in the same. There is a 7Eleven right next to the hotel. The in & out parking access was convenient. Stayed the night to attend a concert at Dodger Stadium and the freeway access and hotel location was also convenient. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I've never stayed in a hotel room so small and cramped. The bathroom was so tiny, that one person barely fit in there. I had to squeeze between the wall and the toilet to get out of the bathroom. The toilet was a public style toilet. The kind you have to put your foot on the lever to flush. It was RIDICULOUS!!! The lobby and exterior of the hotel was […] nice, but I'll never stay there again nor recommend it to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"You be the Judge"
My trip to Los Angeles was short I arrived in to LA around 7:30 PM and checked into the Mayfair around 9:45PM. When I approached to the front desk I stood there for approximately 5 mins while the 2 male clerks discussed the fact that one of the draws would not balance the other was worried that he would get in trouble by "HER" evidently "SHE" yells […] alot. I finally get checked in. I make it to the 11th floor I get in and I flop onto the bed. I dozed off for 30 mins When I woke up I noticed a sour smell in the air. I had a couple of bottles of water in my bag and the room had an apt. size fridge. I opened the door and the smell was so foul. The fridge was plugged in but was not working. 11:30pm I called the front desk but couldn't reach anyone. I then called Hotels.com the young lady was able to reach someone they wanted to move me into another room downside the room was not fully cleaned and had a twin Iam 6' 4 not really an option. "Not a good place to stay."
I don't recommend this hotel the front desk is rude and not helpful at all. And they charge my card twice and didn't even tell me. And if I would have said something they wouldn't have said anything. And so not clean and is very old and the rooms a super Small. Didn't like it at allGenuine Expedia guest review
"Get what you pay for!"
We went with a group of 16, and all I can say is you get what you pay for! The rooms were very little, and the air con had to be left on high all the time to get to a comfortable temperature. However, having stayed in many hotels around the world, I would say it was average for what we paid and the location we were in. There were some complications […] with our breakfasts that we had paid for through a third party when booking the hotel. It's quite overpriced, but was good and well made. The staff, overall, seemed overworked and understaffed, but I could tell tried to do their best and care for the guests. Mostly you felt in their way though, like they were worn down Moms and you were just another kid asking for something! I would go again, it was near our destination and parking was great to have on site (although it does cost $14 a night, which shouldn't surprise anyone considering you're in LA). If you aren't going to be spending a lot of time in your room and just need a good place to land, this is a great choice! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the mattresses were like sleeping on rocks; but the freezer did freeze the items placed there. the bathroom was very small but the water pressure of the shower was satisfying.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible experience. Rooms dirty. Staff rude"
Do not go there. The hotel is trying to charge you for everything and rooms are dirty !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was a little concerned about the location. Looked kind of ghetto but once I got inside I was pleasantly surprised. Nice and appealing on the interior, don't let the exterior fool you. Overall I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stayed for Hard Summer"
Stayed here with friends for Hard Summer. Was a decent place to crash and that's about it. Surrounding area may be "scary" if you aren't used to LA but I did not feel in danger at all as expressed in some of the other reviews. Room was tiny and run down but pretty clean. Perfect for my situation but definitely wouldn't stay here if I was looking for […] a luxury place with amenities. Overall I was happy with my stay Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very small. The shower was so small it was hard to even stand up to showerGenuine Expedia guest review
Walking into the lobby you would think that this hotel had somewhat decent rooms...not at all the case! Stains, holes, smells...and above all, dated! I could accept old as long as clean was a factor. really disappointing!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful Historic Hotel..but it is Historic..."
The rooms looked nothing like the website. It was creepy and reminded us of a scary movie at first, but we only slept in the room so it was okay but wish the room looked like it did online. Also would be nice to have carpet in the rooms, but I also could have been in a room not yet updated. The view of downtown is spectacular, that was my favorite part. "Not sure why it's "Historic.""
Time for a remodel. The carpet in the room was so filthy that you could not go barefoot without getting your feet dirty.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Horrible, Dirty, Old, Ugly."
Dirty carpet, your feet will turn black. The sink was clogged, The floor in the bathroom was sticky, there was bugs in the bed. The parking is expensive. And the double bed is super small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I hated it"
The tv was old and the channels werent visable. The floor was dirty and old. The coffeemaker didnt work and the bed made a LOT of noise the beds were in bad conditions and the tv stand too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"vacation in L.A"
The hotel is old and you can see the repairs throughout the building. There is patches in the walls, musty smell in the hallways, small bathroom, old parking lot and stained furniture. All of this was a small price to pay to be conveniently located in the center of all of the Los Angeles attractions. The parking lot is secured and cost $14 a night the […] staff is friendly and access to the hotel is easy. Expedia will not mention that you have to pay for parking so please be aware. The beds are a little stiff but the pillows are nice and comfy my whole family slept great. Clean beds and bathroom despite the rest of the room not looking clean but that's because it's an old building and sometimes no matter how hard you try and old structure will still look old. Great Price and great experience with my family of four overall. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great service. But don't believe the pictures."
Me and a friend decided to get a hotel room due to the fact we didn't wanna drink and drive our way back home from the staples center that was super close. Taxi close not walk close. Walked into the lobby. Very fancy. Lovely. Excited that I decided to pay 20 dollars more for a double room and they looked oh so nice in the pictures. Got onto our floor. […] Smelled lovely. I'm a hairstlyist and it smelt like herbal eassence shampoo. Walk Into our room... And hmmm... Looks nothing like the picture. But when I walked in I just said to myself. "I get what I paid for" oh well. Looked promising but not complaining too much. Enjoy! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Never again I will stay in this hotel againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Dirty and nasty white flakes fell from ceilings my whole stay. It was seriously one of the most disgusting stays of my life.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good for the price"
This hotel is satisfactory for the price and the star rating. It's definitely old. The parking garage doesn't have an elevator, so if you park in the top you have to carry your bags down stairs. The lobby is large but doesn't have a bar. Not a problem for some people though. The room we got was a good size. The beds were tough though and the bathrooms […] were in desparate need of renovation. Check in and check out we're easy though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Hotel is nice and small"
The location of the hotel was nice since in downtown. Yes parking was expensive but my car was located in a safe spot. The room was clean with no disappointments. the staff were nice and quick. Over all it gave us a great view of the city.Genuine Expedia guest review
""Good Location/Dated Hotel"
"I did not enjoy my stay at the Mayfair Hotel in Los Angeles. The lobby area will lead you to believe that the room will be okay. However, I found the room to be very dated. I will not recommend this Hotel to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very old and outdated"
We literally had to throw our shoulder into the door to open it. It felt very outdated and dirty. The bathroom door had a punch hole in it. Room 808. It just felt very uncomfortable. The staff however was very helpful and friendly. We needed a cab and the front desk staff was very helpful and called one for us.Genuine Expedia guest review
Worst hotel ever. I had no cold water and they would not refund me. The hotel looks room was small and smelled I would never stay here or suggest anyone to stay here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for"
The hotel is in very poor conditions. Very old, but that is not bad. The cleaningness of the hotel was not done properly. The staff was nice. Parking for the entire day is also charged at $14 dollars the night. Breakfast in not complementary. It's $12 per person.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One night in LA"
We needed to stay only one night in LA. The hotel rates were tempting, and it offered a good breakfast. But it wouldn't be a good option for a longer stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"For the price, it's a great stay."
Was there for a 2 night stay on business. Very centrally located. Great hotel if you don't mind that it's not going to be modern. Could use a little up-dating, however I'm not fussy.Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff was incredibly rude, both the night shift and AM shift. The carpet in the room was completely nasty, with stains everywhere. The bathroom was so small that you had to get on top of the toilet to close the door. Also, bathroom floor and tub was incredibly dirty.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel with nice buffet breakfast"
My experience was great. We had free breakfast every morning before we went to our convention. Rooms and beds were small but comfy. My colleagues and I enjoyed our nights and bell boy was very helpful when we needed a cab. 👍Genuine Expedia guest review

"You get what you pay for"
We got the infamous room with the burned iron mark in the carpet. I hate to leave a bad review but this hotel was scary. The only positive thing was the linens in the bathroom and bathroom. All the lights run off little brown extention cords that I'm sure aren't up to fire code. It's too bad no one has remodeled this hotel. The lobby is charming. The […] neighborhood isn't one I would walk around in and there's not much to see anyway. If you want to stay in the downtown area expect to pay at least $150 a night for something decent. The pictures misrepresent what you are actually getting. The rooms are nothing like how they say they will be. The tiniest hov tv ever. The refrigerator smelt like rotten food and it didn't even get cold.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in bad neighborhood"
Positive: Nice room (old fashioned), very nice lobby, clean, pleasant and helpful staff. Negative: run down, dangerous seeming neighborhood, no good restaurants nearby, very poor wifi service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"it was awesome"
This hotel was amazing. .I guess people expect so much out of hotels that's why the ratings are a bit low...but it was close to the convention center for anime expo. I only needed it to sleep. Great hotel!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The group of 4 was put in a room with two queen size beds. The sink was constantly clogged from Day 1 for an unknown reason but it was fixed the next day. However, the shower was not fixed (it had sufficient hot water but no cold water, so no warm showers) and the AC was leaking. If you order a room with a fridge and microwave, only 2 things can be […] plugged in, or powered: the fridge, microwave, and T.V. They offered a room to switch out of but the offered room had only one full sized bed and not microwave and fridge. For those with fear of elevators, it makes loud noises going up and down, and occasionally shakes but it is pretty fast. Parking is 14 dollars a night with in and out privileges. Internet is horrible if you are on the upper floors and you would need to go downstairs. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

concierge and housekeeping were excellent. Reception Staff need to be trained how to deal with guests, no save box inside the rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not the best part of town, but there is garage parking available for $14 per night with in and out privilege. Room was clean, but very small. Bathroom was extremely small. Hotel staff was friendly. Reasonable priced for what you get.Genuine Expedia guest review
I have read endless reviews about the historic mayfair hotel. Well here's my review. When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted by the staff, I went to the counter told them I wanted to check in. The deposit is $100 no getting around that!. I got my room meet and took the elevator to my room. I was pleased at the halls although it can use a little paint. […] I used my key door and walked in to the room. My room was spacious. I had a nice size bed, a chair, and table. I turned on the AC and it worked fine. The Bed was nice and clean. The carpet had a few spots and could be upgraded, but no complaints. The room could use a new paint job. I had a nice small closet. The Bathroom was small but nice. The floor could of used some re-grouting and caulking. Overall the bathroom was great. Overall: this was a nice hotel, I would defiantly stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This Hotel should not even be advertised by Expedia.. This is a dumpster the room stunk and was creepy looked like roaches would be joining you. The gentleman that checked the room even said the room was stinky, like mildew the other rooms they showed me were exactly the same.. "Better than the reviews"
First off I was not sure what to expect, after reading the reviews. There are some issues, however all hotels have issues. This is an older hotel, that is being remodel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The ladies do and excellent job keeping the rooms clean. My family didn't have a complaint. We stay for four night, the breakfast could better, the […] charges could be cheaper. Again everyone has issues. If i'm ever in this area again I would not hesitate to stay again. Thanks too the Management and staff for doing the best that can be done at this time. I believe that it will get better as they finish the remodeling. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
