Room was not ready due to a leak in the ceiling comming from the roof A/C chiller above. The staff worked very hard to correct and left a bucket in the room to catch any dripping. The hotel staff was very appologetic and couterious. They gave me a refund for half the price of the room which was very kind. I would recommend them to anyone. "Prompt, friendly service"
Though check-in wasn't until 3:00 pm, we were in the area around noon, so we decided to drop our car off in the parking garage. I went in to the front desk to see how we could possible check in early at all. The clerk, without hesitation, said, "I'll check you in right now." We found everyone - from the valet to the bartender - to be equally friendly […] and accommodating. Though the room isn't glamorous, it was certainly comfy - and the deep in room jacuzzi was quite awesome. A great stay all the way around. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Shower in room was old. Should be remodeld. Happy hr food was good but had to flag down bartender to get a drink when the bar was empty... $5 "historic preservation" fee charged at checkout after we already paid hotels.com before arriving. "Gem of a hotel in the heart of Milwaukee"
The hotel overall was great. My only regret was being on a low floor overlooking the parking garage and the dumpsters. The garbage pickup is loud and early. Would have given the hotel a perfect score if not for that issue.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, excellent service"
I stay at the Hotel Metro whenever I'm in Milwaukee. The location - at the East end of downtown - is ideal for lakefront activities, restaurants, shows, etc. I've stayed in a variety of rooms and they are spacious and relaxing!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great downtown hotel"
Stayed two nights over a weekend in June. Room wasn't ready when we arrived. Hotel gave us free drinks in the bar while we waited. Nice touch. Short walk to Art Museum, Third Ward, Lakefront and many good restaurants.Genuine Expedia guest review
Deluxe room was truly deluxe; service was fantastic. Didn't try bar or restaurant, but room service food was excellent. Pricey, but worth it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice couple weekend getaway"
The hotel staff were friendly and very accommodating. The service at the restaurant and bar was very slow and they had somewhat of an attitude. Eat somewhere else, great restaurants around the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything in the hotel was great it was close to everything I needed and the staff was very helpful. I enjoyed all if the amenities the hotel had. When I go back to Milwaukee I will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"How can it be more than two stars???"
All I can say is WOW!!! The hotel must use their profits to pay people to write better reviews. I travel a ton and have stayed at 2 star hotels that are nicer. Bathroom was dirty, room was oddly shaped, very expensive and if you stay on the second floor you'll agree the hotel feels like its going to fall down. The whole hotel shakes!!! Not easy to sleep […] when you think it will collapse. Historic YES, worth the money, NO. I'm truly shocked.. Don't book!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couple of issues"
I have been several times previously, love the location, love the hotel, the bar and resteraunt. This time, my room had some issues.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a couple issues but they were handled promptlyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I spent two nights on business in a "Spa" suite. The suite was spacious and well appointed except for the notable absence of a usable desk.. WiFi was free and fast, but he TV channel card was a joke as very few of the channels listed actually worked as they appear to have been not subscribed to. The room was clean, save for the enormous cobwebs in the […] ceiling corners. Admittedly it was a very tall ceiling, but when one lies down on the bed the predominant view should not be cobwebs. The shower head was faulty as was the room Air Conditioner, which was totally incapable of lowering the room temperature by one (1) single degree. This was particularly annoying since it was an unseasonably warm 80+ degrees in Wisconsin that week. On my way to breakfast in the hotel, I advised the desk clerk of the air conditioner problem and he said he would advise maintenance. If anything was done, nothing they did solved the problem - another night without AC for me. The first breakfast (around 7:30 AM) took nearly an hour to receive a rudimentary omelet. Clearly, there was a staffing issue, as none of the other patrons were served in that time as well. Fortunately, my meeting in Racine was not on the early side and the food was good once it got there. I'll save my commentary regarding the room service pizza I ordered upon arrival as I should have known better, but it was apparently the ONLY item available at 10:30PM. "Wonderful weekend getaway"
The rooms in this hotel are lovely. They have a partitioned bedroom/living room and a huge bathroom with a two-person tub. The art-deco interior design is really pretty as well. The hotel staff are fabulous--friendly, helpful, and knowledeable. The hotel has a "London Cab" that took us to our dinner reservation so that we could leave our car in the […] garage. The driver knew so much about the city, that the drive turned into a fun event too! Overall, a wonderful experience to stay at the Metro. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for couples and business."
It was lovely. There were interesting elements of new, modern upgrades, mixed with a few older looking things (carpet), but not in a way that put me off. It actually felt both comfortable and a fancy, in a way that I really feel at home in. I didn't see a whole lot of kids, which I appreciated.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not if you want to Sleep"
This was the noisiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Bar outside played so long you could hear the words until 3 a.m. and then the snow trucks, and the hot water pipes banging. The bed was like a rock. The idea was to be retro, but the furniture was just dated and tacky.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff went above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The London taxi is a great way to see the city and get to your destination.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel, just not our room."
The hotel was quite nice and the staff was absolutely wonderful. However, our room (which was quite clean and laid out nicely) was somewhat beat up. The rugs were worn in places. The furniture a bit worn...and our room faced a parking garage. My sense was that we were given that room, because we booked online. They kept saying at the front desk, 'oh, […] your room was booked through expedia!' Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Metro We take pride in our property and guest rooms, and as such we are constantly updating our rooms, carpeting, and furniture in order to keep up with the high traffic a busy hotel experiences. We welcome all of our guests as VIPs no matter what outlet we receive a reservation. The room type mentioned, our Deluxe Suite Queen, is our most economical room, and every room of this style faces the same side of the building. We do offer other room types on the other side of the hotel such as our Deluxe Suite King that offer a wonderful street view that are priced marginally higher. We do note the best that we can which rooms have a view, and which do not.
Greeted by a helpful and friendly valet. The room set up was nice with a living room area and separated bedroom. Complimentary internet access. The room was clean with the exception of the top of the bureau which was very dusty. The bar was good in terms of both service & food/drinks. However, I was overall disappointed esp given the hotel description […] and price. I will stay in another hotel during my next visit to Milwaukee. Issues with the tv which we had to have serviced and still had some problems, there was an occasional but consistent banging of the pipes which prevented a good nights sleep. The key cards had to be replaced twice because they didnt work. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Reto Hotel"
It was over all a wonderful experience. Was a bit surprised about the $4.99 historical restoration fee. Response by Hotel Metro We appreciate the feedback, and love to hear from our guests about their experiences as it helps us to grow and improve. Our Historic Preservation Fee is a nightly fee applied to all guest reservations that goes towards an endeavor to maintain the historic Mariner building that houses Hotel Metro. We like to be transparent about all additional costs for our guests, which is why it is not included in the room rate. We do however take care to clearly list the fee on all booking outlets, confirmation pages, our website, and registration materials at check in.
"Outstanding Customer Service"
This is the second time I stayed at Hotel Metro. I had such a great experience the first time that I wanted to come back again. This time, I feel topped the first. It may have been because of the special person I was staying with but I thoroughly had a great time. The rooms here are huge and the soaking tub is ENORMOUS! But I think hands down more than […] the cool rooms, the Customer Service is outstanding. I always feel taken care of when I'm there. This stay especially. The Concierge staff went above and beyond with getting a pair of my beloved boots buffed and shined. Hotel Metro doesn't offer this service in house but they were extremely happy to help me by finding a nearby location and handling all of it to the end when they kindly dropped the boots off at my room. Thank you! I also really like the bar/restaurant. They have an outstanding breakfast/brunch which is great if you've spend some time enjoying the delicious Sangria's the night before. The last thing I want to point out is that they have an incredible spa area on the rooftop. If you have time, make sure to enjoy it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great Boutique Hotel. Very personable staff. Had Brunch in the hotel resturant on New Years Day, rather hetic and a very long wait for service, but otherwise would strongly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Couldn't sleep and it only got worse"
After a night out on New Years we came back to sleep around 3:am but woke up around 4:am to a loud and constant banging noise from the heater register. Called down to get a new room and was move at 5:am to get woken up by the cleaning lady banging on the door at 9:am. Complained and the response was "did you have your do not disturb sign on the door"? […] (wasnt thinking about that at 5:am and who cleans a room at 9:am?) Thought we would try the New Years Day brunch but after waiting 15 minutes to get seated, even though nobody else was there, we decided to walk over to the Pfister hotel and enjoyed much better service and regretted not staying there in the first place! "Relaxing spa tub"
The whirlpool tub in the Spa King Suite was wonderful. The Egyptian Cotton bedding was very, very comfortable. Although the little chocolates on the pillow were nice with the turndown service, I would have foregone this to get a bit more coffee in the morning (there were two cups worth in the room). Also, parking was a tad expensive.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very nice room loved the fireplace and hot tub. Close to all the places we wanted to go.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place. My only comment is that because of the open design of the two bedroom suite, there is really very little privacy in either bedroom--visual privacy, but no audio privacy. A tv on in one room or a phone conversation, etc can easily be heard in the other bedroom even though it is separated from the other bedroom by the living room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good desk help and loved my stay.."
great room...super large...great price...great design ..and the help and resturant servers were very polite and effective...knew how to serve food, during our MOrning retirement Party breakfast....food was ok...Pancakes were a bit strange...but all else was fanatastic...I would stay there again..my first choice actually...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location and clean."
Great location able to walk to bars, restaurants and theater. Clean room very spacious. Added a $50.00 historic preservation fee to bill that we were not aware of when making the reservation. Also $27 overnight parking. There is street parking available however. Staff is friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Metro We appreciate the feedback , and are very fortunate to have such a prime location in the Milwaukee area. Our Historic Preservation Fee is $4.99 per night, and goes towards an endeavor to preserve the historic Mariner building that houses Hotel Metro. While not included in the room rate, we do take care to list this fee on all booking outlets, and at the initial hotel registration. As a small boutique hotel we offer the highest quality of service possible, which is why the hotel only offers a valet service as opposed to a lower priced self parking option.
When I arrived the hotel recognized my reservation was paid in full but asked for a credit card incase there were incidental charges. We stayed at Hotel Metro after our wedding. They picked us up from the reception in the old fashioned London cab and waited for us even though we were late for our scheduled pickup. "Good for a one night stay downtown"
Older hotel with some nice updates. Stayed in a Queen suite. It was small and not what I expected for what I paid. It was a nice room, but I wouldn't spend the extra money on the suite next time - not worth it. Hotel staff was very very nice!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was very nice and the staff incredibly friendly - but the little things were off. The bartender was pleasant but the drinks were awful. The menu was diverse but food prepared poorly. "Beautiful Hotel and friendliest staff"
I loved the room. It was spacious and comfortable. The "free" London cab ride was a major perk and made our trip "stress free." That is such a great thing to have for the guests. All of the staff was friendly and very personable. It made our stay very pleasant and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bathroom has mold and mildew in all corners in shower and outside area near the shower. Shower itself is narrow. And I'm a smaller guy. Service was very helpful and the shuttle is very convienent and friendly. Great location. Could use a coffee shop/cart.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Metro Hotel Metro's large and unique bathrooms are one of the reasons the hotel is rated so highly across the world. As such, we are in the process of updating all of the bathrooms, removing guest room showers and replacing with bigger all glass showers that are easier to maintain.

"free bike + best location = no need for car"
If you are going to Milwaukee for business or pleasure you cannot do better than Hotel Metro for convenience & comfort. I stayed 5 nights & took full advantage of all there was to enjoy even while attending conference. That's because Hotel Metro is so close to everything and the bikes are free & Milwaukee is so flat that you can get everywhere quickly […] and safely. You can go by foot if you prefer or, in the evenings, take advantage of the courtesy London Cab. I was pleasantly surprised at every turn by Metro and Milwaukee. The rooms were super clean and spacious. coming from NYC I was not used to a tub AND a shower, nice. Also kinda impressed with Milwaukee's Art Museum. Bike trails are the best around the lake.
