We chose this hotel for its convenient location to the train station and the Duomo. That was about the only good quality of this place. The staff was not helpful for any bookings or questions. They actually seemed inconvenienced by any questions or requests. Our room was outdated and on a loud street.

A n amazing place to stay - actually an old palace turned into a hotel. Included a very nice breakfast buffet in a gorgeous room. Only three short blocks to the Duomo and the heart of Florence. A quality place with reasonable rates. I would go back there in a minute.

Lovely hotel rich in history, beautiful to walk through. Your internet is not included so make sure you are okay with that. We had to fight to get it free because we were staying for 8 nights. The reviews on here are generally accurate...the hotel is in a superb location between the train station and Duomo, short walk to either. Only 10-15 minutes to Uffizi or Accademia. All the rooms and bathrooms are different shapes and sizes, so what one guest gets doesn't guarantee size or quality for the next. Our room was big, but the bathroom was […] very, very small and no bigger than a closet. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The carpet is old, but overall the hotel is in decent shape...it's a centuries old building and definitely has a lot of character. The safe is very small and can't fit an iPad. We hid ours under the dresser. There is no free WIFI in the public areas as stated on Hotels.com. WIFI in the room is a very expensive €8. We got a weak but free signal from somewhere when we sat close to the window and had to stick the iPad and phones out the window at times to keep signal. Breakfast, and the breakfast room, are great and very enjoyable. The hair dryer is one of those large, old wall mounted ones the size of a small vacuum complete with vacuum hose. The worst part was the bed...our mattress seemed as old as the hotel. We nicknamed it "The Taco" as we rolled and sunk to the middle instantly. Every time you sat or laid on it you felt and heard the very old springs pop. Ugh. This is an average hotel with a decent price and superb location. For our one night it wasn't bad, but a longer stay would be tough. Read more

Our room was split level with the bathroom and tiny sitting area downstairs and the bedroom upstairs. The stairs were a bit awkward (especially for a middle of the night bathroom trip), but it was clean and suited our needs. We really liked this hotel. Wonderful stained glass windows in our room and beautiful paintings. However the hotel stated that there was a lift/elevator without stating that the traveler needs to climb many stairs to get to the lift on each floor. That was a real problem.

The hotel is typical of older European buildings, such as, lack of air conditioning in public spaces, uneven steps and hand held shower head. The airconditioner in the room worked fine. The best thing about the hotel is the location. It is within 5 blocks of the Duomo, so right in the center of things. Also, the front desk staff were excellent, reserving tours, booking tickets for museums and recommending restaurants. As far as location, this hotel cannot be beat. We were within walking distance of the Duomo and all the sights and museums. The lobby is charming and the staff friendly and breakfast is served in a charming room of this converted palace(s) and offered typical European options - sweet rolls, bread, ham, yogurt ++. The room was very large and looked exactly […] like the picture shown on this site, but it was supposed to be non-smoking and it smelled like someone spent a week in that room doing nothing BUT smoking. It is important to note that we did not mention the smoking room to management to give them the option of giving us a different room. We were travel weary and opted to stick it out hoping the air conditioning would help. It did not. It was very warm during our stay and the AC could not cool the room sufficiently with it's exceptionally high ceilings. We booked a triple and were pleased that our daughter did not have to endure a pull-out couch, but rather got a twin bed. They could do with investing in new, higher quality mattresses - my husband remarked that it was the least comfortable of all our travels in Italy. Read more

Overall we were pleased with our stay at the Hotel Paris. The location is unparalleled if your travelling via train--a very short walk right to the Firenze SMN train station and very centrally located in a nice neighborhood. Breakfast was great and so nice to have it complementary, they will even make you cappucino to order! There were a few small "cons": it being an old building, the walls were quite thin and unfortunately we could hear everything our neighbors were doing (everything they said and "ahem" did if you know what I mean...). I would suggest bringing noise cancelling headphones. The beds themselves were small and not very comfortable but I also believe that this is probably what you get in the area for the price you pay. We had a problem with the faucets running one evening but the hotel staff were trying to fix it and did as promplty as they could. Overall, I would recommend it and certainly stay there again. My husband and I LOVED this hotel! It was perfectly located right in the downtown neighborhood of Florence and everything was in easy walking distance. Everything was within a couple blocks of the hotel, including the train station. No need to find any kind of transportation here...you're far too close to need it. The staff was great and helpful. Everything was clean, nice, and orderly. The free breakfast was an actual breakfast, they had choices of cereals, breads, fruit, yogurt, etc, and plenty of drinks; and they all tasted great! The room was cute and small and we loved that we had two levels. The only drawback was that the crowds from their national holiday were very noisy and we could hear them through our windows, and it was very hot at night because the heat would rise to the loft where the bed was located. The windows did an excellent job of shutting out the light...just not the noise. The bed was kind of hard for our preference (and their idea of a double bed is two twin beds pushed together), and the bathroom very small, but we didn't expect much, and we got more than we expected!
