"Liked the Hotel."Reviewed by Mack of "Ajax, Ontario" on Jan 29, 2012
No complaints about the Hotel or Staff. There is a nice 24 hr Deli across the road. Room was about what I expected for the price. The imediate neighborhood was a bit dirty but I felt safe enough. I wouldn't recomend it for families with young kids. I would stay there again. It's a bit old school but that was kid of cool too. I do Love NY.

It is well situated for one to get around New York.A short walk or cab ride, to most places that you would want to see in the City. For the "urbanite" the subway is about a block away. Only 6 stops from SoHo. To really enjoy this Hotel get the Bigger rooms/Business suites on the higher floors. Some of the views aren't great but the layout is worth the few extra dollars. F.G. "Vincci Avalon Hotel - Great Location So So Hotel"
Proceed with caution. The Vincci Avalon is not as advertised or as shown in the photos. I was sharing a room with 3 friends and we are all on the same page with this rating. Our experience with the Vincci Hotel was not a great one. It was in fact quite disappointing. I will start with the good. The location was very good. I could almost say that it […] was excellent. Located between 5th and Madison it was close and within walking distance to all kinds of landmarks. An excellent starting point to our discovery vacation. The room was quiet and the air conditioning worked well. The large bathroom was perfect for three women. The beds and bed linens were clean and comfortable. There were however no body pillows or bath robes as was advertised. And this is the start of the disappointments. The mattress of the bed chesterfield was not usable. Very warn and thin. You could definitely feel the springs. So if you are counting on using the bed chesterfield bring your own foamy. As we had to pay for the 3rd person this was not good value. The hotel is in desperate need of repair and updating. The furniture in the room and in the common areas was shabby. The common areas were in desperate need of fresh paint and a really good cleaning. There was never enough towels left by housekeeping. We had to call every day for additional bath towels, hand towels and face cloths. There were not enough hangers for a group of people. Thank goodness we had brought our own. And the complimentary coffee and pastries were definitely not as advertised. The story on the coffee differed every day. Some staff said that coffee was available from 6:00 am to 7:00 am. Some staff said that coffee was available from 7:00 am to 7:30 am and then from 11:00 am to 11:30. I only found coffee available one day out five. Fortunately there were coffee shops close by. And complimentary pastries? Non existent. The bottom line is proceed with caution when making your decision . For this group it was definitely not very Read more
"Stay here!"
Loved this hotel! Had a king room, which was reasonably priced and HUGE by NY standards! Great location, comfortable space, lovely bathroom, 2 flatscreen tvs, free internet and fridge in the room. Would absolutely stay again & recommend it to anyone.

"Great Location"
Make sure you arrive early and state specifically to get the type of rooms you want. The location is great, just few blocks to different subway lines.
"Vincci Avalon - good detail, would go again"
We were pleased with the Vincci Avalon -- quiet, clean, spacious room & bathroom, good location. The room was a bit warm (we opened the window one night) and we could never figure out the room temp. controls, but we didn't spend much time on it. The wireless connection was slow, and I had to wait for a while one night for one of the two computers on […] the main floor. We didn't try the breakfast buffet -- we got breakfast around the corner for one third of the price. Read more

"Great hotel"
LARGE rooms for NYC, great people.
"comfort, cleanliness and hospitality"
I've stayed at quite a few NYC hotels, and while this hotel might not be the coolest or hippest design or decor, it is very nice- more classic/traditional design and decor. I have stayed here twice for business and have been struck by the courtesy and helpfulness of the front desk staff. The rooms have both been very nice and comfortable w/ a good amount […] of room (junior suites for 2 people, each needing their own beds). It is in a good central location- below the park, above SOHO or meatpacking, so it works well for needing to get uptown and downtown. Did not use the restaurant, but not trouble finding food around the area, of course. Read more
"The Hotel Vincci Avalon"
This hotel was very comfortable and clean. Our beds were very comfy and the room atmosphere was perfect. My daughter and I went to NY to shop for her wedding dress, and finish our Christmas shopping. The location was perfect and the neighborhood and restaurants were great. However there was no coffee pot in the room and the comlementary coffee was not […] available until 11:00 am. That was a little too late for my first cup of coffee. They also didn't have any washclothes which I thought was unusual. They said they ran out. So the whole week end we had no wash clothes. Other than those two things it was a very nice place and I think we would return, only this time we would bring our own washcloth and coffee! Read more

"Vincci Hotel in New York"
Great location! Good price. Great Service. Comfortable, clean, and spacious rooms!!! Highly recommend it.
"Vinnci in the heart of Manhattan"
Near the #6 train, good delis and one of the best French Restaurants, I've eaten at in a long time called "Serge" on Madison Ave. Delighful staff, meal and dessert. Very international! The hotel was very clean, could use some updating, but that's a sign of the times and it was refreshing to not be in the cookie cutter Marriott or Hyatt for a change. Near […] Madison Square Garden, Park and walking distance to all the good stuff in south-central NYC. Read more
"Clean!"
The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. My only negative is that there was a lot of street noise in my room (room number ended in -02). I was concerned about falling asleep, but earplugs did the trick. Would definitely stay here again, just might request a room that wasn't next to the elevator or ending in -02.
"Not recommended"
I would never stay here again. As mentioned in other reviews the front desk staff should not be allowed to speak with customers- they really seem to resent them interrupting their internet surfing. ABSOLUTELY do not eat the "restaurant" especially for breakfast. When I complained that the "bacon" looked very weird and processed, the waitress told me […] it was regular pork bacon. Then when the hostess ran over to correct her, she admitted that it was not pork but a processed turkey product. She said they dont serve any pork since it is a "Mediterranean" restaurant. I explained pork is probably the single most popular meat in the mediterranean, but she finally admitted that the restaurant is owned by Muslims and that was the real reason. Fair enough. But tell people that especially in NY where bacon is bacon. The hotel is nothing special and as I said the front desk people should choose a different line of work. Read more

"Upgraded"
Purchased a night stay in N/Y City for our anniversary and reserved a junior suite. At check-in, they upgraded us to a full suite which was very comfortable. Jacuzzi bath was fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay. Would recommeed again. Price was comparable to others we considered.
"Looks can be deceiving"
I booked a junior suite with two double beds specifically because I was sharing the room with a co-worker. Upon arrival I was told that because another group didn't leave, the room was not available so I was being "upgraded" to a "deluxe" suite. The room only had 1 King bed. I was told we also had a sofa bed since we didn't want to share a bed. The […] "deluxe" suite appeared to be the exact same room as a junior suite (according to online pictures) but with a bigger bathroom and 2 tvs. No fridge, no microwave, no frills. The furniture looked like it had fallen down a staircase and when I bumped a lamp table, the rickety thing nearly fell to pieces. The sofa bed mattress was about an inch thick with metal bars under it so I called for a rollaway. So after paying for a "suite" I got to sleep on a hard rollaway bed. This place is alright if you get a great deal (which we didn't). Just don't believe the pictures and know that a "suite" is really a big room with minimal crappy furniture and no frills. Oh it did have a snack center with a $4 candy bar. Read more
"Spacious!!!"
This was a great and unexpected change to the tiny rooms of NY. Situated in the village area and close to a subway, making NY easy access
"Great location"
The location was great. The hotel was very nice. I noticed that in hallways several lightbulbs were burned out and the Loveseat in our room was filthy looking. Other than that every thing looked very clean.
"Nice hotel but..."
Nice hotel, comfortable room that worked well for me and my friends but lacked some amenities like coffee in the morning you could take to your room, a fitness center, a printer in the "business center" (a computer in the lobby)...
"Dont stay here"
Outdated. Checked in to find the room was not what I reserved or paid for. I reserved a junior suite with 2 beds, the put me in a room with a single double bed (not even a queen) and tried to convince me to sleep in the same bed with my business partner. The front desk clerk said "it's only one night". The folks at Hotels.com were kind and found me […] a room right away at another hotel. Read more

"Big rooms for the price"
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Vincci Avalon. The Junior Suites were very large and comfortable. The only negative was that we made a reservation for 2 double beds and were given a queen. They stated they don't guarantee the type of bed available at check-in.

"Hotel Vincci"
The hotel location is great and 2 minutes walk to the Empire State building. Apart from this the hotel is very dated in need of refurbishment. I checked in after a long flight and was put in a smoking room. The smell was disgusting, and the furnishings and net curtains were yellow and stained... I requested another room and they said there was none […] available. Not until i said i was going to check out, a room suddenly became available and i was changed. I also nearly got charged for missing items out of the mini bar, even though i had never opened it. I asked for my invoice to be changed, and was looked at liked i was telling lies. If you want a nice hotel in the same area, stay at the Hotel Chandler. Read more

"This place is PERFECT"
My wife, daughter, and myself had a great NY vacation. The location makes it easy to walk or take a cab anywhere. We did Central Park, Times Sq, Broadway, Little Italy, ChinaTown, Empire State Bldg, etc. and we either walked or took easy cab rides everywhere. The East Side Ferry is a few blocks away too. The room was big, clean, had 2 TV's and the mattresses […] were great. We didn't have a view but the room was bright anyway. The bathroom was big and the tub was big. The lobby is modern and well furnished and there is free coffee and free internet off to the side. There are 10 places to get morning coffee and bagels right outside the door. The staff was very friendly. You get a very international flavor here as most of the staff (and guests too) are from other countries. Everyone is knowledgeable about NY and how to get around and everyone there is courteous and treat you like they are happy to have you stay with them. We were there all week and it was awesome! Don't hesitate to book it. Read more
Unusually large pleasant space for Manhattan.
"Fantastic, definitely stay here again"
Great place if you're looking for a large comfortable room to sleep in in NYC. Not the type of hotel if you're after luxuries and pampering. Stayed with 3month old, staff v helpful, allowed early check in. Room enormous, very comfortable, big bathroom. Amazing for NYC. Furnishings tired and worn if you're being really picky but who cares, it's not […] like you stay in hotel all day. Even if you did want to, plenty of space. Am very happy we found our hotel in NYC, intend to stay here next time we come. EXCEPTIONAL value for money (they also had a special offer when we went -stay 3 nights, get 20% off). Well located in terms of taking cabs/subway to other parts of manhattan. Area quite touristy (next to empire state) but fine. Good restaurants in surrounding Koreatown. Read more
"Gross Bathroom, MOLD top to bottom"
This hotel looks good but the bath rooms had mold in the shower from the floor to the ceiling. Also, I was appaled that we did not have a coffee pot or access to a free cup of coffee, especially at the price I paid. The hostess was very rude when we ask where the coffeee center was. They advertise free coffee but it is after 11A. The first day we had […] to pay a whopping $4.50 for a cup!! After that we went somewhere else. Read more
"Vincci Avalon - great hotel and location"

"Vincci Experience"
I just returned from a week at the Vincci. It was very close to the client I was working with, so I thought I would give it a go. Overall, it is a nicely appointed hotel. Spacious room (suite) for Manhattan and the adjoining restaurant was excellent. My only complaints were small, but in mass - they made the stay not nearly as pleasurable as it could […] have been. Air conditioner - malfunctioned. TV/Cable - didn't work correctly, which they corrected, partially. Shower - poor water pressure. They cleaned my room even though I had the Do not disturb sign on my door. Car service they arranged - didn't have my reservation, luckily had plenty of time. Again..small things and hopefully isolated incidents. Read more

"Weekend Stay at Vincci Avalon"
I was very satisfied with the hotel. I checked in early and upon checking in I was upgraded to a double suite room. The room had two flat screen TVs and a pull-out sofa-bed that we never used. In all, the room was very clean and comfortable and well worth the extra price we payed.
"Horrible check in....but great location."
Flew all day, tried to check in, and they didn't have a room for me. They wanted me to go 8 blocks away for a night. I was a tad upset, said no. They then found a hotel two blocks away for one night. I had booked two weeks with this hotel. To not have a room for me was unacceptable. I do however, love the location and they upgraded my room. That meant […] it was bigger, that's all. I won't stay there again, but I love Midtown. Read more

I have been going to Vincci for the last 3 years. Every room I've had was comfortable and spacious for the area and $'s.

The Hotel was nice and clean. Wood floors were a nice change. Unfortunately - no hot water the last morning and the front desk didn't seem to care much.

"Vincci Avalon Hotel in New York City"
My stay at the Vincci Avalon was more than I expected. The room was very clean, free wifi was available, and it worked well. The room was very comfortable and quite. The hotel is very close to the sights and shopping in New York. I would stay again.
"Hotel Vincci Avalon great for families"
We booked the junior suite which was very large for a NY hotel, and far below the price of comparable hotels. It had 2 beds plus a pull out couch that was actually comfortable. Plenty of room for 3 teenagers and 3 large suitcases. The hotel is very close to lots of great restaurants, the Empire State building and Herald Square Macy's. There over Thanksgiving […] and it was an easy walk to view the parade. Read more
