The Beacon Hotel South Beach - Miami Beach

(1) Great hotel staff. The front desk really went above and beyond. A young gentleman and woman were especially helpful. The gentleman actually ran to the restaurant to get us a cup of coffee when we asked if the morning coffee was still available. They also didn't charge us for valet parking after we mentioned how rude the parking attendant had been. […] Which leads me to: (2) Incredibly rude valet parking attendant. He actually yelled at my wife when she asked him what he wanted the keys for (we were just checking in and didn't want him to take the car until we had unloaded). Upon leaving the next day, the new valet attendant seemed normal and kind. (3) Our particular room was in the "basement" location. It wasn't a bad room itself, but the window is painted and a second door opens to some type of dark, covered alley. There appeared to be only two bad "basement" rooms, so your chances of getting a good one are pretty good. Read more

Overall not a bad hotel... I would just suggest updating the beds to better mattresses. Would stay here again.

The hotel was very nice. Great location and the staff was great as well. Would stay there again anytime I am in Southbeach.

We got a last minute reservation and ended up in a windowless ground floor room. I don't recommend the restaurant out front. Their drink prices are criminal. Buyer beware.

Great location, helpful staff

My Husband and I were celebrating our 25th Anniversary and booked a room ahead of time with Hotels .com.We booked a ocean front room.When we arrived we were told there wasn't a oceanfront room available because the room we were supposed to stay in was occupied with luggage from the people who were supposed to check out.Those people came in that night […] late and stayed in the room.I asked them why they couldnt store the luggage and let us have that room.They said as long as the people had a credit card on file they couldnt remove their luggage.I was furious but given it was easter weekend we had no choice.....What a horrible way to treat customers...I would never recommend this Hotel... Wonderful experience!!! the Beacon is right SMACK in the middle of everything..LOVE IT!!! The room was very clean but a little tight but this is Miami..the front desk personnel were all wonderful..i got to meet them all arrived mid morning and left the hotel early morning..everyone was very courteous, kind and accommodating....the beds were very comfortable..the […] towels were amazingly soft and fluffy..i would go back there just for the fluffy towels:)...the staff were very attentive to our needs..loved the business center and available printer for check-in plane boarding passes. free wifi could easily connect...loved it!!!wish i stayed there longer but had to go back to reality...the free breakfast was great too..my family and i got to sit outside in the morning and enjoy the hustle and bustle of South Beach..if u stay here you won't be disappointed!! This hotel has excellent staff who show great interest in making guests feel comfortable. The room was cleaned very well each day, and maintenance seemed good overall. The location is superb for Miami beach and all the restaurants. Our room on the fourth floor was quiet every nite, though the music out front was loud. if you care about cleanliness, this place is for you. very clean hotel. but very small room. was expecting something a little bigger. i guess you are paying for location. close to parking garage and to many other restaurants and shops on washington and collins.

Beautiful hotel! Funky deco style, yet not kitchy like some of the others. Sophisticated. Room had marble floor which I thought is much more sanitary than carpet! Bed was a little too soft (down everything!) which is my only complaint! There was an outdoor seating area convenient to our room which was very private. Our room was right over the lobby […] and even though the Ocean Blvd crawl goes on well into the wee hours, the place is quite soundproof- I didn't hear a thing! Would definitely stay again! Husband surprising wife with a get-away weekend at the quintessential Art Deco landmark before a Bahama cruise was the best start we could have hoped for. Gus helped us find Grazie Italian Cuisine for a wonderful dinner, a relaxing night in a cozy room, and spending a day across the street at the beach , a bike ride around town before boarding the ship […] was all she needed to get relaxed. This hotel is in a great location- clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and let us check our things in early and our car out late (without charge). The breakfast (included) was excellent. I would definitely go back.

Arrived and were sent to a tiny room with an even smaller bathroom with a view of the adjoining roof vs the hotels description of an "ocean or garden view". Complained and were given an ocean view (tops of palms really) room that was very nice. Fun area and bar-in the middle of the S. Beach action. But make sure you get what you pay for! The ocean view […] nice rooms normally cost more. The "garden view" is a side view of a 5' garden between two five story buildings, but no big deal if the room is as nice as the front facing rooms. I love this hotel. Stayed here a few years ago and forgot how nice it is. Most of the deco hotels in this area are pretty crappy, providing minimalist features. This hotel is really well taken care of. The rooms are not only clean, but they give the feeling of real quality from the bathroom to the beds (oh how comfy). I've had to spend the better half […] of the day in the room for work, and I have really enjoyed it. My room is near the back of the hotel with no view to speak of, but I don't mind. It's quiet, comfortable, and I can walk out the front door to all that SoBe is. Nightlife and shopping galore. HAd breakfast here at the hotel outside this morning and it was great. Not close to a 4 star hotel. More like 2-3 stars. poor communication with staff. ( asked for coffee in the room, they stated they did not provide room service, but would bring it any way, then never brought it when we walked out of our room later down the hall near our room was a coffee stand it would have been wonderful experience if someone would […] have simple stated, " there is a coffee stand near your room by the elevator" then we would have had a much better stay. No one helped with luggage. I paid $20 for them to park my car, which was fine, but then had to wait 30 min. For them to return it. Bathroom was reasonably clean. Also there was an old lady who kept following us around and was periodically just standing outside our hotel room door. Interesting art deco decor. Beds were comfurtable. The room itself was nice enough and clean, though one bed had an older mattress which creaked and sagged a bit. But the staff were extraordinarily helpful in assisting us with our toddler, and the location was fantastic. Would stay there again, knowing not to expect luxuries.

The Beacon Hotel far exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect and right in the heart of South Beach complete with all the art deco trimmings. Our room was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Best of all, the hotel staff was extremely helpful, so polite, courteous and friendly. Exceptional value!

We were guaranteed a beach or garden view. Instead we got a view of a basement storage room -- literally. The hotel manager was totally unapologetic, said they did not write the descriptions, blame it on hotels.com. We won't be staying there again.

We were very pleased. Everything at the hotel was a pleasant surprise after reading many reviews for south beach hotels. The place was clean, the location is perfect and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again!

Location good if you want to be right on top of bars on Ocean Drive aka if you are looking to party. Building is old, rooms are maintained fine. If you are looking for a luxurious place, look elsewhere, but serves certain purposes well and staff was good

Superior location. Nice feel of art deco district and very convenient. Small, small rooms, which shouldn't have surprised us. Hotel service is average at best, however. Overall, a very good South Beach experience.

Excellent service and very friendly staff, especially, the front desk and the door. All of them went out of their way to be helpful all the time. A very pleasant stay overall.

We stayed at the Beacon two times last month and really enjoyed it. The property is a beautifully preserved and maintained 1937 art deco hotel on Ocean Drive. The staff is excellent and very welcoming, especially Gus at the front desk. While Ocean is a noisy street with lots of partying, we did not hear any noise outside of our room - one reason we […] choose the hotel. The beds were very comfortable. On our first stay, the double room was pretty tight. The next week, we received a larger room. One criticism I would have about the room would be the frosted glass bathroom doors. In a double room, privacy would have been preferred over trendy room design. The complementary breakfast was good at the sidewalk cafe. Beware of happy hour, the first drink was pricey at $25 with the second free. I wish we had been able to go in and out of the hotel without being accosted by the pushy restaurant maitre d to join them for dining, but all of the sidewalk restaurants are VERY aggressive to get patrons. If you stay in SoBe, try Havana 1957 restaurant's house special for dinner. Best meal ever. Beach is right across the street from the hotel. We had a great stay! Read more

The beacon is right on the main drag... All action and fun for a night or two. You do not hang in the hotel for long. The adjoining restaurant is harsh with wildly over priced drinks and bad food.

We stayed here on a layover and thought it would be fun to experience South Beach. The staff was super friendly and the hotel was clean, nice and looked like something from Palm Springs. The hotel restaurant out front was fun and lively. Its what you expect for South Beach. I read reviews saying it's quiet but if you're going expecting to have a quiet […] room make sure you request something not facing the ocean otherwise you'll hear the music below till about 1am. It didn't bother me since it was the last night of my vacation but if you're looking for quiet pick another location off of Ocean Drive. I wish we had more time than the one night to experience the fun neighborhood. Read more

I only stayed one night but next time I go to Miami I will stay at the Beacon.

Friendly staff; free printing and internet access in a convenient lobby situated business room; great location right across the street from the beach; a bit noisy on the strip, but not too bad

Location was great, but the new bathroom left a lot to be seen. The new frosted glass door was just that, a see thru into the bathroom and whoever was in it. Building was being maintained as we were there, new carpet, exterior painting, scrubbing the building, vacuuming, etc. Front deck personal was great, very friendly, hotel staff was quiet and reserved. […] The Place, eating establishment in the front of the hotel, was very expensive, but all of South Beach is. The Beacon Hotel is perfectly wonderful! Right from the start the management and workers were so helpful and friendly. This continued throughout the stay. The room was delightful and contained so many wonderful ammenities! There were the usual things, and then there were robes, beach chairs, beach towels, and even an umbrella in the closet! The king […] sized bed was so comfortable with lots of pillows and a soft comforter. The shower was great - everything clean and inviting. Breakfast is included - but not your usual continental muffin. We had a choice of delicious breakfasts cooked to order that were fabulous! There was also coffee and tea available in the second floor living area. The location is also wonderful if you want the real "South Beach" experience. It is in the best place for sidewalk dining, people watching, and beach recreation. We will definitely go back to the Beacon if we get to South Beach again. Read more

CHECKED INTO ROOM FIRST ROOM WAS 325, TOO MUCH NOISE. THE MGR. ON DUTY CHANGE MY ROOM TO 501 WHICH OVER LOOKED OCEAN BLVD. THEY HAVE BEACH CHAIRS AND TOWELS FOR GUESTS( NO COSTS). I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN. A FEW PROBLEMS WITH A LEAK BUT WAS TAKEN CARE OF.

I cannot say enough about this hotel...it was the best!! The staff was SO nice and so accomodating.
